Strangers — Contemporary erotic romance

So I just completed this book by Barbara Elsborg a few hours ago. Strangers is the title and as the blurb states, the story starts when two characters meet in the ocean, both of them planning a one-way swim.

While I have purchased one other book by this author in the past, it's in a pile and I never opened it (but you can bet I'll be digging it out ASAP). When I first read about Strangers I was hooked. The concept of two characters, both depressed enough to seriously contemplate suicide...

The Regency Rambler – June & July

I wanted to share one of my favorite things about Tumblr – how it archives your posts. Here's a quick visual of my posts for June and July:

I think I'm learning I'm more of a visual person than I'd realized because the archive feature here delights me to no end.  Click anywhere on the pictures if you want to learn more.

Forget The Bed Bugs — It's The Mattress That Will Get You

Imagine my surprise when I realized our less than 8 year-old mattress, the one with the 15 year warranty (ha!), was contributing to if not outright causing daily back pain. Every morning when I woke up, my back felt worse but within an hour or two, it would improve and I finally realized it was my mattress.

After doing just a smidgen of research, I learned that since 2007, all new mattresses are loaded down with even more chemicals. Oh goody. Just what I didn't need to hear, given my...

Sales Goals – Setting & Reaching

In her book on self-publishing, Zoe Winters talks about the importance of setting goals. A few weeks into this endeavor, I decided I would love to reach 1000 copies sold on one of my books. My goal was to reach that goal (pardon the goalie duplication :) ) and then set another.

Talk about a wonderful surprise when I calculated July sales data. Not only did two stories pop over that 1000 copies sold (since their release) magical mark I'd hoped for, but I surpassed another goal I hadn't even...

Confessions of a Confused Author

Over the weekend, I updated my website and added a page I always love visiting on other author's sites. You know what I'm talking about–the page that describes what they're working on now. What books we as avid readers can expect to get our greedy little hands on soon. :-)

As some of the information I allude to (specifically the class I'm currently taking and uncooperative manuscripts) are topics I plan on blogging about more in the future, I decided to go ahead and share part of that new page h...

Writers Leaving Reviews – Good or Bad Idea?

Howdy! On this hot summer morning, I've posted a short article on whether or not authors should leave reviews about books they read. Chime in with your thoughts and join in the discussion at author Amber Skyze's blog where I'm a guest today.

WRITING STATUS:
After a rough spell mentally, trying to analyze what wasn't working with a recently completed novel, I've had a bit of a breakthrough which I consider cause for celebration. Hmmm. Brownies later today? Another attempt at making...
