2022 Maggie Award of Excellence Finalist
Even before my publishing career began, I followed the Maggie Award. Each year, I would read every book on the finalists list that caught my interest. It’s absolutely surreal that Ensnared by Innocence is now on that list. I’m honored beyond words.
We won’t know the winners until the Moonlight & Magnolias Conference in October. It’ll be hard to sleep until then.
You can find Ensnared by Innocence anywhere you buy books. This historical paranormal romance includes sexy lion shifters an...

WHAT BREED IS JOSIE?
When I announced that Mr. Lyons and I decided to join the Land of Canine and get our first-ever dog, I never could have guessed how many people would email and ask what breed Josie was.
In the weeks since, I’ve learned that it’s a natural dog-related question, as when I meet people who have dogs, that’s what I ask first too.
We knew she was a “Golden Retriever mix”, but beyond that had no other knowledge. We’ve now learned from three different dog-obedience trainers, working to cur...

Our Kitties Would Like You To Meet Josie
I’ve been super busy. Writing of course, but also with our new puppy, Josie! (I know, because my ADD brain and “current events” don’t already provide enough distractions.) But after living in the country for over 20 years, I finally convinced Mr. Lyons that a big dog would be a great addition to the family. Oops – he came home in the dead of winter and the fence wasn’t finished yet. So of course, Texas had another cold snap just days after we got her. One morning’s temperature was a balmy 8°. ...

Researching the regency: Men’s Fashion, heraldry, Word Choice and more
Ensnared by Innocence
As I work on my regencies, researching things every page or two, I’m always astonished at how very many websites I visit. Not that long ago, I saw where another author kept track of that sort of thing via a blog post, a very detailed blog post for each specific book that impressed me mightily. But more than that – given how I have a tendency to “bookmark” every single page of value, and my bookmarks are numbering in the thousands, I think this might prove a super helpf...

The Allure of the Regency Romance
Why Jane Austen’s Regency period so compellingly invites readers to visit—and return again and again—and how one author discovered the treasure trove to be found.
Before we visit London, England, circa 1810-1820, let us hearken back a decade or three, when the first big chain of used bookstores made its way to Texas.
Prior to this occurrence, I’d grown up reading every romance book I could get my hands on: things like Silhouette First Love—teen romance my mother approved—and the more adult...

Roaring Rogues Regency Shifters
They’re back! Ready for a roaring great time with my steamy Regency shapeshifters?
Heck, I never know whether it’s “Shape Shifters”, “Shapeshifters” or simply “Shifters”. But either way, if you like the thought of a sexy Regency gentleman shifting into a sexy lion, you’ve found the right place.
Ensnared by Innocence (Late Summer 2021)
Deceived by Desire (Fall 2021)
Tamed by Temptation (Summer 2022)
While the first two books were published back in the day, when I was with Ellora’s Cave, my...

Mistress by Morning
Hi! If you’re looking for the Regency novel originally titled Mistress by Morning, the book got so long that I split it into three, under the Series Mistress in the Making.

The Mistress in the Making trilogy brings you Regency-styled historical romance brimming with emotion, humor and sexy romps. For a true historical feel, the stories are written using period-appropriate slang (known as cant) and words used during the early 1800s. The Regency hero stutters and avoids talking rather than ...

Coffee and Laughs Giveaway
Texas Coffee
I didn’t start drinking coffee until my early 40s (I’m dating myself here – so pretend like you didn’t just read that last sentence). But once I started, I quickly noticed the difference between organic versus plain Jane cheapo from the grocery store. My husband recently discovered Texas Coffee Roasters, from Far West Texas, and we can both really tell the quality and the smooth, robust flavor, especially when we’ve been drinking the cheaper stuff and switch over.
We recently gave ...

Chocolate and Cats Giveaway
Spirit Cats
I first discovered Nicole Piar’s Spirit Cats when perusing tarot decks over at Amazon. When I found her calendar, I was hooked. From the way she names the days of the week (Monday is Moon for example) to the poignant sentiments expressed on each page – not to mention the glorious watercolor cats, this quickly became one of my favorite calendars ever.
And when I saw the upcoming 2021 version? Oh my! Looks so much like my sassy girl! I was delighted and knew I wanted to share this cale...
