Happy Halloween from the Bookanistas!
Hey y'all! Today a few of us Bookanistas are talking about our favorite scary books.
I don't often read scary books, but there are a few that have stuck with me. Most recently, I've gotta say
Second Verse by Jennifer Walkup
It's got such great suspense and the ghost/murder elements were truly spooky.
Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake
I haven't had a chance to read the sequel yet, but it's definitely on my list. This book was so creepy and awesome. I loved it!
3:50 by Gretchen McNeil

Open Call for Street Team!
Hello hello!
My next book, SHATTERED VEIL, will be coming out in February 2014, and I'm looking for enthusiastic folks to help me spread the word!
SHATTERED VEIL is super special to me. I wrote the first draft when MAJOR HOTSAUCE was deployed, back in 2010. Maybe not surprisingly, it began as a story about a girl who didn't know how to survive while the love of her life was gone to war...because those were the feelings I was tapping into at the time.
Since then, and through many, many revisions...

Bookanista Review: Second Verse
Hello my lovelies! I hope you're having a good week. Mine's been insane, which I guess is par for the course for a work-from-home mommy with an about-to-walk child and a husband studying for midterms.
STILL. I am bringing you a VERY exciting review today!
From Goodreads:
Bad things come in threes. In Shady Springs, that includes murder.
Murder Now

Release Party! QUIET KIDS by Christine Fonseca
Today I'm helping fellow Bookanista Christine celebrate the release of her newest nonfiction title: QUIET KIDS. As an introverted writer, I can DEFINITELY see the value of this book...and wish it had been around when *I* was a quiet kid!
I'm going to turn over this post to Christine, so she can tell you more about the book - and her awesome giveaway! Take it away, Christine!

I am so happy to announce the official release of my book, Quiet Kids. This book, in addition to being the book I wish...

So, a while back I gushed to y'all about Susanne Winnacker's intense IMPOSTOR. Don't remember? Check out my review here.
Good news...IMPOSTOR has a sequel, coming June 2014 from Razorbill!
Even better? I've got the title AND gorgeous cover to share!

Why I Chose to Self-Publish
Okay, so the following post is super long and probably rambling. Proceed at your own risk...
gratuitous picture of my adorable child
I’ve been thinking about the indie versus traditional debate a lot lately. Everyone seems to have an opinion, and those opinions in many cases are completely different than they were six months, a year, five years ago. I know my opinion on the subject has changed.
Right off the bat, I’ll say that as a reader, I love both traditionally and self-published books. Thes...

Bookanista Review: Untraceable
I know, I know. It's been a while since my last Bookanista review. I hate how little time I have to read! One thing I DON'T hate?? Untraceable, by S. R. Johannes! In fact, I LOVE IT. :-D
I've been hearing about the Nature of Grace series for a while, and given that the books take place in the wilderness of NC - and I both like the wilderness AND live in North Carolina - they seemed right up my alley. So I decided to check out Untraceable, the first in the series.
16-year-old Grac...
