Can we skip to the good part?
Are you struggling right now and finding yourself asking “Can we just skip to the good part?”
Seasons of illness, poor relationships, hard parenting, tough jobs, dark mental health – the list goes on.
Sure, the easy route would be to skip to the good part, get past all this angst, and finally feel like things are good.
But what if you are in a good part right now and don’t even realize it? What if it’s all about perspective? What if, with some supports in place – like counseling, medica...

What is the downside to hustle?
I was cleaning up my home office, reorganizing piles of papers and cleaning off surfaces. As I cleaned, my eyes fell on the bulletin board hanging above my bookcase. The space serves mostly as a vision board and a holder of family memories and little notes my children have written to me. As my eyes roamed the various pictures, quotes, and phrases hanging there, I stopped when I spotted the card.
Written in a bold font on a bright colored background it read: “You ...

The best direction when making plans

I’m sure she thought it was a good idea. It looked safe, she had done things like this before and it had worked out.
Why should she wonder if this time it would not be safe?
But I could tell. From my vantage point – it was not a good idea.
A robin built her nest on a low branch in our yard. It was tucked well into crook of the tree, secure from wind and rain. In theory it should work.
But that tree sits close to the sidewalk and sees high schoo...

What to do when life is out of control
Today on the blog I am sharing my friend with you! How to celebrate Seder
For those who celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, this is a very special week.
Easter. There are several different ways to approach this holiday, but we will get so much more out of it if we are intentionally preparing our hearts as we walk through this week.

how to address anxiety, feelings of failure, and lack of purpose
My first memories of anxiety go back to 3rd grade. I’m sure many of us can come up with something that we worried about when we were young. However, the worry that I had, even from a young age, ruled my life. It kept me from sleeping, dominated my thoughts throughout the day, and stopped me from doing things a normal 10 year old would do. I was worrying so often and so much that I was diagnosed with ulcers.
This type of behavior continued into my high school years. It ...
