Friends, do you know about #GivingTuesday? After two days of getting deals, today is about giving back. I hope you will support the causes closest to your heart. S.A.Y. Detroit (http://bit.ly/saydetroitalbom), a group of nonprofits started in 2006 to help improve the lives of Detroit’s neediest, is close to mine.
Let’s use the power of Facebook to build awareness and to manifest the generosity I’ve been so blessed to know from you. Morrie Schwartz told me something that still rings true to me today. He said “If you don’t like the culture, don’t buy it. Create your own.” We all need to find out what moves us, inspires us and makes us feel good about who we are and how we are with other people. We all need to find our own way to be good to one another.
Mother Batie’s Kitchen is just one of Detroit’s stories, and a glimpse into the work S.A.Y. Detroit does. I’m proud to call Detroit home. I’m proud of the work Detroiters do every day to bring our city back. Please watch at http://youtu.be/1wzKd9DAU7Y
Today’s contributions will be announced during our 15 hour Radiothon on December 5.
S.A.Y. Detroit, and say something good. I hope you will, too.

Friends, many of you ask me to write messages in their book for someone else--it got me thinking I could call that person as an even more special gift. Would you like to give the gift of a personal phone call from me just before Christmas? I'd be happy to do this if it meant something to someone and maybe brightened their holiday. Send us a video response to The First Phone Call from Heaven (you can include who and why you’d like me to call), and you might be one of two winners. Details here: http://bit.ly/albomvideoreviews

From the Detroit Free Press: Hoke's gutsy call may have failed, but it was the right one in this instant classic
No guts, no story. Michigan took a giant chance in the dying sunshine of Saturday afternoon, trying to rewrite its season in the final paragraph. Having just scored to pull within 42-41 of undefeated and third-ranked Ohio State, the Wolverines pushed all the chips to the middle of the table, ignoring a game-tying extra point and going for the victory with a two-point conversion.
There were 32 seconds left.

Friends, as long as the subject is phone calls, would you like to get a live call from me? Record a 1 minute (or less) video review of The First Phone Call from Heaven, and you just might.
Hey, no writer is crazy about critics, but I love seeing reviews from fans and long-time readers. What you think is most important to me. I have been surprised and humbled to have already received a number of wonderful video reviews, three of which you can check out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihFWQ8RFsWk&list=PLzDsvqLz55ozAZ9xoIL6Y6K-w8DaDR4jd
These got all of us thinking…are there more out there? So we're inviting you to submit your video responses to #TheFirstPhoneCallfromHeaven. Be creative and have fun, but NO SPOILERS PLEASE! Load your video to youtube, and submit it to http://bit.ly/albomvideoreviews by 12/15.
