From the Detroit Free Press: Remember Dumars for his best, not this Pistons mess
Remember Dumars for his best, not this Pistons mess
Joe Dumars, I'm told, might step down this week. There should be applause. Not the cynical applause of critics who think Dumars is why the Pistons have sunk in recent years. Applause for one of Detroit's most intelligent, talented and decent sports legends, who is ending nearly 30 years of service because he still stands for what this franchise was, and likely can't stand what it has become.

From the Detroit Free Press: Mets player right to be at baby's opening day
Mets player right to be at baby's opening day
At some point, most kids ask their fathers, "Were you there when I was born?"
I know my father was. I've heard the story many times. Dad drives Mom to the hospital. He sits in the waiting room. Doctor comes out, takes one look at my father and says, "I see where he gets his ears."
Every kid should have a delivery story. And now, a newborn named Noah Murphy will have one, too.
Noah's father, Daniel, a second baseman for the New York Mets, missed Opening Day this past week to be there for the child's birth.
From the Detroit Free Press: A perfect ending
Mitch Albom on Tigers' Opening Day
A perfect ending
Time to forget the harsh winter;
old and new deliver a grand day
Mitch Albom
The manager's hair is no longer white. The starting lineup now includes an Ian, a Nick and a Rajai. The second baseman is new, the third baseman is new, the first baseman is no longer a bearded Prince (although he does have a contract fit for a king). And, until the game started Monday afternoon, very few people knew who was playing shortstop.
But they knew it by the end.

If there are more songs inspired by my books out there, I’d love to see them. Send me your links.
