Fifty Shades of Grey
A friend of mine just got done reading the popular book by E.L. James so I asked her to give me her review of the book and all the hype surrounding it. I don't plan to read the book but I will go to the movie when it comes out. Anyway, here's what Stephanie had to say for those of you who are interested.
She said that overall the book was good. She went out and bought the second one. That in spite of the hero treating the heroine like a cherished possession, he was really good to her. They didn't even have sex for the first time until page 166, 166 folks! It's a long book. Stephanie thought the sex scenes in the book were not much more than vanilla sex to her. The spanking scenes were anticipated with mixed feelings for the heroine and basically she didn't enjoy them.
So I asked her, what did she feel all the hype was about? Her opinion? That someone who was someone read it and then plugged it and it took off from there. She said she thinks E.L. James just got lucky. What luck, huh? Good for her!
From the reviews I've read about Fifty Shades of Grey you either love it or you hate it. I've heard a lot of complaints about all the errors with grammar and sentence structure that riddle the book but Stephanie said she didn't notice any, of course she wasn't looking for any either. She's not a professional reviewer. So please remember that if this post prompts you into going out and buying the book.
Stephanie is just a friend sharing her take on the book as she sees it.

DUST of My Wings Tour
Hey everyone we have a guest with us today. Please say hi to Carrie Anne Ryan and leave a comment for a chance at a wonderful prize.
Hi! Thank you so much for having me here today!
Where and what were you doing when you realized you wanted to be a writer when you grew up?
That’s a funny question because I didn’t think that as a kid. I had always wanted to be a scientist. And for a while, I was! And then two years I started writing to get some stories in my head on paper. It wasn’t until last year that things came together for me while I was teaching for me to actually do something that I didn’t know I needed. I love it.
Who's your hero and why?
Oh that’s a hard one! Um, my dad? He’s a military man who I hadn’t thought would support me in writing erotic romance, but boy was I wrong! He is so proud of me that sometimes I can’t believe it.
What inspires you?
Everything and anything. I’m a character writer, so if I see or hear something that sparks a character trait, it helps.
What genre haven't you written yet but would like to one day?
I have a contemporary series lined up in a couple of years and I’m excited! But I need to finish these 4 or 5 paranormals of mine first!
What's your least favorite holiday and why?
Hmmm…Christmas. It’s the one time I actually get to see my family! Since I grew up all over the world b/c of the Air Force, I didn’t get to collect a lot of knickknacks and keep real traditions. Everywhere we lived we had to do something slightly different, but we tried our best to keep things family oriented and sparkly. LOL
Favorite writing spot, clothes?
In my kitchen! LOL I have my office in the corner of it and I can keep from getting distracted. And I prefer writing in jeans and a t-shirt. LOL No jammies for me. If I don’t get dressed and showered, then I don’t want to start the day and will read all day if I can!
What are your pet peeves?
People being late! Being on time is not showing up at the exact time, but being early! I’m an Air Force kid at heart LOL
What are you working on now?
Too much! I’m working on edits for Charmed Spirits, the first book in the Holiday, Montana Series, revisions on Enforcer’s Redemption, Adam’s book in the Redwood Pack series, writing Santa’s Executive, the second book in the Holiday, Montana Series and writing Blurred Expectations, a Redwood Pack Novella that will be out next year!
Who is your favorite author?
I have so many! But Nalini Singh just tugs at my heartstrings and imagination. I love her.
Diamonds or pearls and why? Diamonds! They're my birthstone!

Dust of My Wings by Carrie Ann Ryan
BLURB:
Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?
Neat freak lab tech, Lily Banner lives her life as any ordinary human. She’s dedicated to her work and loves to hang out with her friends at Dante’s Circle, their local bar. When she discovers a strange blue dust at work she meets a handsome stranger holding secrets – and maybe her heart. But after a close call with a thunderstorm, she may not be as ordinary as she thinks.
Shade Griffin is a warrior angel sent to Earth to protect the supernaturals’ secrets. One problem, he can’t stop leaving dust in odd places around town. Now he has to find every ounce of his dust and keep the presence of the supernatural a secret. But after a close encounter with a sexy lab tech and a lightning quick connection, his millennia old loyalties may shift and he could lose more than just his wings in the chaos.
EXCERPT:
The motorcycle vibrated beneath Shade as he pulled off the side of the road and parked. The rain pelted him, the cold seeping into his bones, but he shrugged it off. He was in northern Washington and this seemed to be the norm in terms of weather.
He lifted his leg and got off the bike, ignoring the stares of the women around him. They watched him stroll, his powerful legs leading to long strides. He’d tucked his wings into the slits into his back to hide the fact he was an angel, but he couldn’t hide his face or the fact that women seemed to fawn over it.
It had been a long time since he had a woman. Not since that were jaguar a century or two ago in a night of deep depression and loneliness for him. But the heat, claws and desperation and only served to fill a physical need that left him even lonelier than before. From then on he left his carnal needs up to his hand. Before the jaguar it had been even longer, but he didn’t want to think about her. The one he’d lost. She was long since gone.
Carrie Ann will be awarding Dust of my Wings "swag" packs to one commenter at every stop, a $25 Amazon GC and necklace to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour and a $10 Amazon GC to the host with the most comments (excluding the author's and the host's).

The Mirage
He was sexy as hell. Tall, dark, and built like the Viking on the cover of the romance novel she was reading. She was glad to see he was wearing a boxer style swim suit. It emphasized his powerful thighs and brought attention to his six-pack abs. And the bulge at the front of his suit was impressive, revealing he didn't need one of those tight and tiny suits to bring attention to it.
She began to drool as his long strides brought him closer. His bare feet kicked up sand as he walked just at the edge of the water. And his eyes were hidden behind dark sunglasses. A smile seemed to be playing on his sensual mouth, drawing her hungry gaze there.
God! He was sex on a stick. Eye candy she wanted to taste and lap up slowly. Savoring every lick, and bite. She wet her lips with anticipation. He was almost upon her. She could feel her heart begin to race. And glanced around to see if anyone else was near. She didn't want an audience. Her friend Lucy was next to her but she had a towel over her face.
Her Viking stopped at the foot of her lounge chair and gave her a huge, sexy grin that said come and get me, beautiful. She smiled, barely able to breathe. The awareness zinging through her body hotter than the Florida sun.
"Are you here for me, handsome?" she asked him.
"Who are you talking to?" Lucy asked.
She glanced at Lucy, to see that she was peeking at her from beneath the towel. Then glanced back at the foot of her lounge chair.
No one was there.
The End

New Book Cover!
Whoohoo! Look familiar? I couldn't resist using the same art work that's on top of my blog for this hot book cover. I'm hoping to get Up in Flames released soon.

James White doesn't have a crush on his receptionist. He wants her, its as simple as that. He senses there's a real beauty hidden beneath the granny glasses and professional suits. And he plans to find out how hot she is as soon as the chance presents itself.

Release Day!
Here it is folks!
LIQUID SILVER BOOKS
There’d been something brewing between John and Sammy twenty years ago when they were teenagers. Only good girl Sammy had been too afraid of his bad boy image. Besides, in those days all he'd wanted was sex. She opted for his safer and more predictable brother, Pat. And when they get married, John disappears.
They’re reunited during a family reunion, and the years disappear in the blink of an eye. Seeing him now, as the successful, sexy man he's become, reminds Sammy that they're both free to pursue their attraction for each other that had never fully extinguished. Only giving in to a weekend of hot anywhere, anything goes sex isn't the only thing Sammy faces. She has to come to terms with loving him.

The other day I was in the post office, and for the first...
The other day I was in the post office, and for the first time I felt myself getting nervous. I was in a long line, in a fairly small room. After looking around I realized there was only one way in and out. Then my mind went there. Oh yes it did. I started thinking, what would I do if I looked behind me through the glass doors and saw a gunman approaching? Where would I go and what were my options? There really wasn't any, other than jumping over the counter. Since the counter is more than halfway up my short height and with my back and leg problems, I knew I'd never make it. Even in an emergency. The only door was off to the side and I could tell it was locked.
What a terrible feeling, and I have no idea why it popped into my head. Except that maybe I had too much time to think. Usually I'm in and out at the post office.
I know it stemmed from the recent movie theater shooting. It's not the first time I've taken a good look around me and noted where the exits were. Or, developed some kind of survival plan in my silly head.
But, am I being silly? Sad to say probably not. I know I can't live in fear and always waiting for the worst to happen, but everything I see on TV just shows me that we all have to be more observant and proactive in our lives.
My daughter and her husband are going to see the new Batman movie tomorrow. They're going at the noon showing.

LOOK WHAT I JUST BOUGHT!
I used to wear these kaftans all the time, and didn't even know they still made them. They are so freakin comfortable. So I went on eBay and found a brand new one with the tags. The same one I found on another site for double the price. Now that I have time to spend a lot more time writing I might as well be comfortable. I can't live in my jammies. I mean, jammie day is Saturday! LOL

My Favorite Bird
For some reason I don't see them as often as I used to. They come down to Florida for the winter. But when I do catch a glimpse of one it makes me so homesick for Maine. So, what is your favorite bird?
