The Easter Bunny and the Info Bill
Info (Secrecy) Bill is passed. Easter Bunny, arrested by the Hawks for not telling where he he hid the Easter eggs.
The protection of state information bill falls short on safeguards to avoid South Africa becoming "a society of secrets". The bill defied the constitutional imperatives of openness and transparency by placing national security, as a cause for classification, above these.

ANC's Top 6 - Unity in Diversity - Pro or Against Zuma
Zapiro's Easter cartoon shows diversity in unity among ANC's top six. The week before Easter, the ANC put up a sham of a unity show, parading the "Top Six" leaders before cameras to prove that these leaders are united and that they love each other; that they work wonderfully together; and they are not involved in infighting for positions ahead of their elective conference in Mangaung in December. However the Mail & Guardian reported that that a war of words broke out between the ANC top brass hours before Tuesday's press conference. The rare media briefing was intended to dispel perceptions that the party was in crisis and that the ANC Youth League was running the show at Luthuli House. Modise and Phosa were infuriated at being informed about the media briefing only shortly before the meeting of the top six, scheduled for 3pm on Tuesday. They confronted Mantashe and reprimanded him for failing to inform them on time and for forcing the press briefing on them. There was also drama when disagreements ensued over the emotional tone of the initial media statements and Modise and Phosa threatened to boycott the intended briefing if it was not toned down. Mantashe obliged and the harsher parts of the media statement were taken out.

At a centenary celebration at Wits, Malema said, “It is under President Zuma that we have seen the youth of the ANC being traumatised, being expelled from their own home. It is under President Zuma we have seen a critical voice being suppressed. We have seen under President Zuma, democracy being replaced with dictatorship. We have seen an intolerance....people, who become impatient with the youth....” In consequence, at a meeting on 2 April 2012, the NDC decided to suspend comrade Julius Malema’s membership of the ANC with immediate effect in accordance with the provisions of Rule 25.12 (c) of the ANC Constitution,”
