Rien Gray: A Sapphic Fiction February Interview

Welcome to the third day of Sapphic Fiction February! It’s almost the weekend, so you’re all being treated to an interview with Rien Gray! Rien is the author of hot, twisting LGBTQ+ romances, such as the Fatal Fidelity series, the most recent of which is Love Burns Bright (pictured). But that’s not the only exciting thing happening today… today is also Rien’s birthday! (Don’t tell them I told you… just scoot over to their Twitter to wish them a happy birthday, okay?) And enjoy this interview!
I...

Hayden Quinn: A Sapphic Fiction February Interview

Further to Jae’s interview yesterday, Day Two of our Sapphic Fiction author interviews is with the wonderful Hayden Quinn ! Hayden is a woman of many talents – she writes YA, horror, short stories, novellas and novels… oh, and she has an MSc in Psychology on the side! Quite frankly, as someone who very nearly did a degree in Psychology, Hayden is an inspiration to me, and so I was ridiculously excited to interview her!
Hi Hayden! Tell us a little bit about you - who are you, and what do you do?

Jae: A Sapphic Fiction February Interview

If you’re even slightly familiar with the Sapphic Fiction genre, you will undoubtedly have seen or read something by Jae. She is the author of twenty-three bestselling romances between women who love women, such as Just A Touch Away , Wrong Number Right Woman , and Chemistry Lessons . She also organises lots of Sapphic Fiction events, such as Sapphic Book Bingo (which you can read more about here ) and, starting today, Blind Date With A Sapphic Book . All 80 of the books included are either discounte...

I wrote a(nother) book in my teens... how did that happen?!

Well, at least I meant to, this time around.
If you’ve read the blog post I wrote about the evolution of The Silent Chapter, my debut novel, you will remember that it was never meant to exist. It started off as a short story, and just sort of grew and grew! At least, with The Summer We’ve Had, it was intended to be a novel, right?
It’s my lockdown baby. Just like Olivia Bratherton Wilson with her wonderful historical lesfic ‘The Lives We Left Behind’ (which I highly recommend), I started writi...

An Interview With Sabrina Kane

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I love doing collaborations. A few months ago, I interviewed Chloe Keto (author of Ransom To Love and now Even Fairy Godmothers Need Help, its festive companion novella) on my newsletter, then on my blog. Now, I’ve done the same with Sabrina Kane, author of the sweet and steamy Carlsbad Lesbian Village and Cornish Lesbian romance series! My newsletter subscribers got to see this interview first, and now I’m sharing it with everyone. Becau...

I'm Happy Like That: how Mat and Savanna Shaw got me through lockdown and beyond

We all explored new avenues in the first coronavirus lockdown in Spring 2020. Some of us took up writing, some cross-stitch, some banana-bread-baking. (Okay, I think most of us did the latter.) But not many of us posted a hastily recorded cover of Celine Dion’s and Andre Rieu’s The Prayer on Facebook for their family and friends, only to have it take off and launch them into the world of online – and soon general – fame.
Luckily, Mat and Savanna Shaw did. Savanna – 15 at the time – dragged her ...

What is Dissociative Identity Disorder, and why did I write about it?

One of the first writing tips most people hear is ‘write what you know’. But I’ve never been very good at sticking to that.
Perhaps it’s my appetite for learning, for stretching to place myself in the shoes of someone different to me. It’s what I did in ,The Silent Chapter, after all. I’ve never lost someone close to suicide, or lost a child, or indeed been married. I’m not even straight, like almost all the characters are. But with a hell of a lot of research from endless sources, I think I go...

I am titanium: FIVE THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT SCOLIOSIS

Some of you might remember that I wrote, a few months ago, about my experiences becoming bionic.
Okay, that may be romanticising it a little bit. But I do, in a way, have an artificial back. It is held together with two titanium rods, fourteen 2.5cm-long screws and a number of hooks. And all because of this possibly-genetic spinal condition I have, called scoliosis.
I go into more detail about my personal experience with scoliosis here. That's my spine in the picture. But, in a way, I feel I o...

Review: ABBA Voyage has one hell of an ABBAsphere

It’s no surprise that this concert is taking the world by storm.
After all, ABBA told countless people, countless times, that they’d never be seen on stage again. I don’t blame them – they certainly went through the wringer together, one way or another. It’s no wonder they parted ways in the 1980s and declined to reunite until the late 2010s. But what they’ve come up with has made the long wait worth it. Two words: ‘ABBA’ and ‘Voyage’.
I went to see their digital concert for the second time l...

An Interview with Chloe Keto

Welcome to the first in what hopefully will become a series of interviews with some of my favourite authors! And who better to start with than the wonderful Chloe Keto? Chloe is a fantastic beta reader, Twitter goddess, lesfic author and friend who I had the pleasure of meeting at the South Coast Lesfic Hang-Out in May, and a couple of months ago we interviewed each other for our newsletters.
Unfortunately, some people aren't subscribed to my monthly newsletter. (I know, I know, they're crazy. ...
