Happy New Year 2017

This is the last day of 2016. I always use this time of year to reflect over the past year and pray about the coming year. Since Ray is working tonight (New Year’s Eve), we prayed together last night to ask for God’s presence to go with us into the new year 2017, His protection Love this? Read More...

Declutter your home and heart for the new year

My husband Ray has been to Haiti on mission trips about 5 times, to help our pastor friends Jay and Linda Threadgill of Fishers of Men Ministries International, including after the 7.0m earthquake in 2010 when he set up a medical clinic treating 200 to 300 injured and ill patients a day. On his third Love this? Read More...

A candle in a dark world

Tonight is Christmas Eve. I just went to our church’s Christmas Eve service. It was beautiful. The church sanctuary was decorated for Christmas with soft colored lights and a Christmas tree. We celebrated the Lord’s Supper (communion), partaking of the bread and wine (grape juice in our church!) that represents the broken body and the Love this? Read More...

My new theme. The cherry tree.

At the end of every year–and sometimes several times during the year–I get restless and want to change my website theme. It’s usually a fast and unexpected decision, too. Like tonight, for instance. I didn’t even know I was going to do this and suddenly I did! The truth is that if you have a Love this? Read More...

Create beauty each day

“My mother created a beautiful home environment, which helped me to learn how to see and how to live. Writers have to find their own voices. I had to learn how to see. Mother’s innate aesthetic sense affected everything she did. When I think back to the meals we ate together as a family, I Love this? Read More...

Joyful surprise: My sister Maria and her kids are visiting!

I am SOOO excited because my only, younger sister Maria and her three children, Nicholas, Brandon, and Katie, are visiting me and our family this Thanksgiving! In fact, she’s on her way RIGHT NOW, just an hour away! She’s never driven this far so intercessors and I have been praying for her whole trip! I […]

Are you hiding your talents?

Are you hiding your talents? While I don’t believe in fortunes, I do believe in God and that He can speak however He wants. (Remember the adorable movie, O God II about God (starring George Burns) appearing and speaking to a little girl, Tracy Richards (Louanne Sirota), in a Chinese restaurant? He wanted Tracy to […]

Hot chocolate with marshmallows and such

Golden Hues “Autumn brings cooler days Effusing fiery golden hues.” ~ Copyright 2012 Joseph May I have a new addiction this fall: pumpkin spice cappuccino. Between that and Sonic grape slushes, I’m not doing a very good job of conquering my sugar addiction, so please pray for me! (Yes, seriously, pray.) Below is a picture […]

Write from your heart

In response to another writer’s post today on Facebook, I made this video quickly to encourage her and all writers to not let perfectionism, procrastination, the lies of the enemy, fear, or anything else hold you back from writing your book. When you’re worried, pray and thank God

It’s a lazy Sunday afternoon, and I’m drinking a pumpkin spice cappuccino, thankful for the quiet at home (Ray is at work). My plan today is to finish my Bible study on The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer, the woman who starred as the mom in War Room. Recently I had a book signing and […]
