Urban Fantasy Recipes
If you are here from Tiktok, Youtube, or Instagram looking for my fantasy recipes you are in the right place!
The best Harry Potter themed item I have ever put in my mouth.
IngredientsFilling
1 cam pumpkin puree
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cardamom
1/4 cloves
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1/3 cup sugar
Pinch of kosher salt
Icing
1 cup powdered sugar
1 lemon’s juice
Crust
Pre-made pastry crust
2 tablespoons melted butter
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Combine and mix your filling ingredients (trust me on the unusual spice choice. It’s not so much heat as glowing warmth, like you taste buds are sitting by a cozy fire in Hagrid’s cabin on a winter’s night.) Combine and mix your icing ingredients. Add a little water to get a runny consistency if needed. On a lightly flowered surface lay out your pastry crust and cut into circles with a cup. Brush with melted butter and spoon a little filling in (about 2 teaspoons for my cut out size). Fold the circles over and seal with a fork. Vent the tops with a small slash (bonus points for a little lightning bolt) and brush the outside with the rest of the melted butter. Bake for 12 15 minutes or until golden brown. Cool and drizzle with lemon icing. Enjoy!

Sinfully flaky and deliciously indulgent – it’s like your favorite bagels grew up and got all sexy.
Ingredients1 tube croissant dough
1 egg
1 pinch cinnamon
1/4 cup Sugar
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut the croissant dough into four equal pieces and fold into long rectangles. Form circles and firmly pinch the ends together. Add to water with a slotted spoon for 15 seconds, then flip and boil 15 additional seconds. Place on greased baking sheet and brush with beaten egg (watered down slightly as desired). Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and bake for 15-20 minutes. Enjoy plain or with your favorite bagel toppings.

This is exactly what the paranormal community in Chicago needs to keep their bellies full and their weapons peace tied.
Part 1: A Day Ahead… make the picked red onions and jalapenos.
Ingredients1 red onion (skinned and sliced)
5 jalapenos (wear gloves and DO NOT touch your face or anyone you love)
2 cups white wine vinegar
2 t coriander seed
2 t mustard seed
A generous pinch of salt
1 cup sugar
4 cloves garlic
Combine vinegar, coriander, mustard, salt, sugar, and garlic over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Add onions and jalapenos and bring to a boil for three minutes., stirring to coat your veg. Remove from heat and cool. Plop everything in a mason jar. If you have a wide mouthed funnel, that’s great. If not, maybe hungry fairies will pick up what you spill. Refrigerate overnight (or up to 5 days, if they last that long.)
Part 2: Steak Sandwich with Fuego Pickles & Black Garlic Aioli
Ingredients1 clove black garlic (it’s like magic jammy honey roasted garlic. Treat yourself, I literally eat this stuff neat)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Thin cut steak
Salt and Pepper
Olive oil
Tomatoes (halved cherry or sliced larger)
Good quality Rolls
Fuego Pickles (recipe in part 1 above)
Peel and mash your black garlic with a fork. Stir into mayonnaise.
Heat a skillet on medium high and add olive oil to coat. Pat your steak dry with paper towels and salt and pepper each side. When your oil begins to shimmer add to the pan and get that nice caramelization on each side of the steak but be careful to only leave it on briefly so you don’t over cook. Pull off heat and rest a few minutes.
Build your sammie: black garlic aioli on both sides, fuego pickles, then steak, then tomatoes. Eat like a king, or at least like a hard boiled supernatural detective.

Much more delicious than described in the Southern Vampire Novels, this smoothie is full of blood red fruits, topped with molasses, and jollied up with a shot of bourbon.
Ingredients2 cups frozen cherries
1 cup strawberries
2-3 small, peeled beets (these give the deepest red but if you don’t like them, leave them out)
1 inch piece of ginger (peeled)
1 cup orange juice
2 cups cherry juice
1 shot good quality bourbon
2 Tablespoons black strap molasses
Put the fruit and juice in the blender and blitz. Pour into a fancy glass. Add bourbon. Top with blackstrap molasses. Enjoy with your friends, human or otherwise.

These super easy pancakes are deliciously sweet, mouth wateringly light, and tangy. Lift would love to steal them!
IngredientsAngel Food Cake Mix
4 Eggs
Passion fruit syrup (available here, but any tangy fruit syrup or curd would work)
Oil (to grease the pan)
Heat the pan while preparing cake mix by first adding water and then eggs. Stir until combined but DO NOT over mix (the batter should still be light and foamy.) Test pan by dripping water on. If the drips sizzle off, you are ready. Grease with oil and ladle pancakes on. Flipping takes a little finesses – these tend to stick – but be patient and make sure they are golden brown on the bottom before flipping. Enjoy warm with fruit syrup (and a shard fork if you have one.)

Here’s my super easy version of Ambrosia: salty sweet and addictive, hitting that butterscotch and popcorn flavor described in the book.
Ingredients1 packet Jello Butterscotch pudding mix
1 teaspoon corn powder (or more to taste) – NOT corn starch. See on Amazon here.
Small pinch high quality finishing salt
Prepare Jello according to package directions. After boiling, when mixture starts to thicken, add corn powder and mix thoroughly. Remove from heat and allow to cool to a comfortable temperature. Sprinkle with finishing salt and serve while still warm. Enjoy!

Love From My Fans
The reason I write is to share excitement and joy with you and there are so many cool ways you guys make me smile. Thanks for that
If you’re here because you love my books and want to help make more, come hang out at
The Fox Den: my creative reading group on Facebook! This is an awesome little club for my beta readers, fans, and anyone who wants more of my flavor of books in the world!

Have a theory about a link I never come out and confirm (ahem… Megan?) Do you have any idea what urban legend Morty came from? What did Lovecraft’s note say in Lapine, anyway? Go!! Add your details, guesses, and questions while geeking out with other people who loved this series!
You’ve heard on Elf on the Shelf now get ready for Golem…. something that rhymes with golem?
Tupperware in There? I haven’t nailed down the name yet but one of my readers made me a replica Tupperware golem and it is amazing! It traveled with me to Vegas and helped hand out cookies at my book sale. I have big plans for Elf on the Shelf style photos to share with you all this holiday season. I’ve had several people ask about more stories for the Tupperware golem and I’d like to do some because I think this little critter has more evil fighting awesomeness left in him. Or maybe those are left over cookies. Either way, here he is in all his glory.
