Celebrating Moms

Happy Mother’s Day, folks! I hope you have plans to spoil your mom over the coming weekend. I’m planning on taking the day off work to do that very thing with mine.

Today, let’s take a look at the mom characters in my published or soon-to-be-published stories.

#1 Sarah Mae in Any Thing

Sarah Mae is a harried widow with five rambunctious children and a disapproving mother-in-law. She misses her husband and loves her children and wants nothing more than to raise them to have the upstan...

Editing Through the Storm

Friends, the other day, there was rain all day long. Not only that but thunderstorms came and went a couple of times. Since my laptop no longer holds a charge, I was nervous about whether or not the electricity would go out (it sometimes does in thunderstorms), because I had to edit 60 pages that day.

So I prayed and made sure my battery pack was fully charged and near at hand, in case I had to make a quick switch with my laptop’s power cord.

Thankfully, God gave me peace while I was worki...

Springtime in Surrey Bad Description Game

Let’s play a game!

Fellow Springtime in Surrey author Rachel Leitch has created bad descriptions of each novella in the collection. They are listed below in random order. There is also a title bank below so you’ll have all eight titles with which to work. The titles are given in the order in which the stories appear in the book, but this is no hint about the order of the bad descriptions. There is one description per title.

To play, leave a comment with your guesses of which bad descrip...

Reflections on Resurrection Day

I hope everyone had a happy and blessed Resurrection Day yesterday.

This time of year always has me reflecting on my Savior, Jesus Christ. Not only did He die to save us all from our sins and bridge the gap between Earth and Heaven, but He also lived the most exemplary life prior to that moment.

The thing that stood out to me the most during my reflections this weekend was that Jesus was selfless. He served others instead of Himself. He put others first in thought, word, and deed.

This ...

Writing Update March 2024

During the new 500 Words of March challenge, I have worked on a few different projects.

Melting-Pot Thanksgiving has been returned to me by beta readers, and I have done revisions. This story is being submitted to Wild Blue Wonder Press for consideration for their upcoming Novelists in November anthology. One of my favorite things about this story is the diversity of Sarah’s family. It was fun to explore a couple of cultures that were different than my own.

The outline for Merits of Grief ...

Y’all, I don’t typically participate in blog tags, but I was tagged in this bookish one, and it seemed too fun to pass up — especially since I have FIVE works-in-progress (WIPs) right now.

I’m using my WIP Merits of Grief for this tag.

Here are the rules of the blog tag:

Letter to the Remnant

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ, the holy Son of God, Who keeps watch over you by day and by night.

I am Andrea, a born-again daughter of God, a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, saved by grace at the tender age of seven and strengthened through trials and testings throughout the years since.

Take courage, dear ones, for your faith is not spent in vain. Paul taught us in Romans 11:5 (HCSB) that “In the same way, then, there is also at the present time a remnant chosen by grace.”...
