Grateful for Busyness

Right now, life is quite busy. Deadlines abound, yet I remain happy and content.

More than that, I am grateful.

Being busy is a blessing. So many good things come out of it. Things get accomplished, and goals get met. And in the midst of it all, God meets me.

Yep, God meets me right in the middle of the busyness.

It’s amazing how He sends me just the right encouragement or a note from a friend or a specific verse or a beautiful sunrise or sunset when I need a nudge to power through a tough, busy day...

Meet the Cast of MPT – Brother and Friends

In only a few short months, Novelists in November will be published. My story in this book is called Melting-Pot Thanksgiving (MPT), and I can hardly wait for you to be able to read this story that features themes of embracing family, struggling through dysfunction, and cherishing one’s culture.

This is our last introduction to the various characters of MPT in “Meet the Cast of MPT” articles. We’ve already met Sarah Jones, her foster kids and their biological families, and Sarah’s parents.

Today, ...

Prayers for the Gaudreaus

The hockey world, and this hockey fan, were rocked over the weekend with the news that Johnny Gaudreau, known as Johnny Hockey, and his younger brother, Matthew, were killed by a drunk driver.

I’ve been a hockey fan since 2012, and I remember when Johnny Hockey came into the league and took it by storm. He quickly became beloved in the sport. Years later, even as a fan of an opposing team, I had to admire the amazing talent that Johnny display...

Come, Lord Jesus!

Friends, in the midst of the ugliness obstructing the world right now, I choose to remember that this planet is not my forever home. By faith and the grace of God, we shall one day reach Heaven, which shan’t have a single bit of ugly.

Won’t that be wooonderful?

As I was closing my Bible at the end of church service yesterday morning, I paused on the last page of Revelation to reread an underlined verse. It gave me such beautiful hope once again. Maybe it will do the same for you today.

The Christmas Catch by Toni Shiloh + a Flash Fiction Contest

Friends, have you ever read a book that felt like a confirmation of something God’s been doing in your life lately?

That recently happened to me.

Theme Chatter

Toni Shiloh’s The Christmas Catch had this line: “I know you want my trust, and You have it. I just don’t trust myself. I want to trust I hear Your voice and not my own. Help me to know it’s You.”

Y’all, I had to read that line three times because it went exquisitely with my One Word of prayer this year. Not only with prayer b...

Shifting Gears

This is the last week of a Year of Springtime in Surrey blog tour. Visit Kellyn Roth’s blog for more details about the tour and giveaway.

For me, this week signifies a changing of the guard, a shifting of gears. The thing is, shifting gears from The Cottage on the Hill was anything but easy for me.

You see, I fell so completely in love with this sweet romance of a story that I couldn’t get it out of my head. More than that, it had infused itself into the fabric of my being. Separating i...
