Cover Reveal: All the Lost Places by Amanda Dykes

When I first read the short story Tin Can Serenade, I knew Amanda Dykes was an author who was here to stay. She had a fresh yet old-world voice that the market didn’t have, a voice that was lyrical and expressive and exquisite. My thoughts were happily confirmed with Up from the Sea and Whose Waves These Are. Those were fantastic stories that melted my heart and made me weep.

Now, I have tried to read Set the Stars Alight, but the timing was bad for me. I was dealing with post-Wu...

Cover Reveal: The Blackout Book Club by Amy Lynn Green

Last year, I ordered a couple of books by Amy Lynn Green that I had been eyeing for a while. I’d seen the cover for Things We Didn’t Say floating around on Goodreads for quite some time, and I’d noticed that the first couple of sentences of the blurb for The Lines Between Us sounded like that story would be right up my alley. Due to a busy schedule with two jobs and the complex and numerous post-WuVi symptoms I’ve been dealing with for just about a year now, I have not yet read these two...

The Girl Who Could Breathe Under Water by Erin Bartels
Lost friendship was a strong theme in this novel. I can’t help but think of my best friend in Kindergarten. I loved playing with Mandy and taking turns riding her pony, and we even dressed alike for Twinkie Day at school that year, making sure we brought along our matching Rainbow Bright dolls, and securing the Twinkie treat for dressing up like twins. We lost touch after that one magical year, when she switched schools (I would do the same thing a few years later), but I have c...

Life Flight by Lynette Eason
I’ve decided to try something new this year. Instead of just posting book reviews, I’m going to also chat about one of the themes from the book. This “Theme Chatter” section will usually be fairly short, but hopefully it will be something you enjoy. If you have thoughts to share about any given theme under discussion, please make good use of the comment section.
Theme ChatterOne theme in Life Flight by Lynette Eason for me was being completely surprised. I’m not typically one who love...

Random Updates and an Invitation
I don’t usually post on Sundays, but there’s a really good reason why I am today. Keep reading to learn more.

FIRST WIF CAMP
I reached my goal at WIF Camp November 2021.The debut Write In Faith Camp (WIF Camp) went better than I expected. Over thirty Christian writers came together to write stories. But we did much more than that. We had a blast writing and/or editing our stories, encouraged each other, and enjoyed fellowship with sisters and a brother in Christ. It was my joy to h...

Q&A with Katherine Reay
Katherine Reay has stopped by for a visit!
Andrea Cox: The London Houseis in the new-to-you genre of time-slip fiction (featuring contemporary and the historical eras covering the years 1928-1941). While I’ve adored your contemporary stories and look forward to reading your single nonfiction title, I’m especially intrigued by this WWII-soaked book, as that’s one of my favorite genres. What drew you to time-slip for The London House? How did you decide ...

Write In Faith Camp: An Invitation
For nearly a decade, I have enjoyed participating in virtual writing camps. These have been great for helping me keep focused in my writing. They’ve aided me in blocking out specific times of day to dedicate to creating stories that someday will be shared with the world. Beyond that, they’ve helped me find online communities of writers, and I’ve built some beautiful friendships through these writing camps.
At this point in my writing journey, it makes the most sense for me to share my love for wr...

Enjoy a Hike Responsibly {guest Lauralee Bliss}
Enjoy a Fall Hike! How to Do It Safelyby Lauralee Bliss
There’s nothing better than a hike in the woods at the peak of fall color. The air is crisp, the colors of the changing leaves brilliant, and the expectation of fun and enjoyment in the great outdoors. It is proven too in these years of strain on our bodies with various illnesses that outdoor exercise strengthens the immune system and provides immune-boosting Vitamin D from the sun.
With that in...

Why We Fought by Jerry Borrowman
FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book. These are my honest thoughts.
This is a really great WWII resource. I enjoyed every chapter, because they taught me things I didn’t already know in a way that was easy to absorb the information. The author voice was great and easy to understand. Overall, this book was fascinating and absorbing.
Here are my personal summaries of each chapter’s heroes:
Virginia Hall, amputee spy who defied the odds as well as the Nazis.
William Sebold, ...

A Midnight Dance by Joanna Davidson Politano
FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book. These are my honest thoughts.
This was my most-anticipated book of 2021. I’m not sure yet what I think about it.
In one way, I feel very misled by a couple of things. The back blurb and meet-cute both indicated a certain romance was going to take place, but the story took a weird turn on that front. While I grew to enjoy certain aspects of the romantic thread and rather adored the finale, it wasn’t anything like what I’d been led to b...
