Blog Swap Information and Schedule
Hello, friends. It’s time to celebrate and spread the word about my newest book, Springtime in Surrey, the debut anthology of Wild Blue Wonder Press. One way my coauthors and I are doing this is by participating in a blog swap.

The authors in the group who have blogs have written and swapped articles to post on one another’s blogs. These will be posted throughout July and August (I think we might have had one of them in June, but I was too busy copyediting the book to get this introduction...

The Cast of The Cottage on the Hill
The publication of Springtime in Surrey is one month away. Seriously, just a single month. That means that very soon, you’ll be able to read eight novellas by some talented Christian authors.
My novella in the collection is The Cottage on the Hill. It features a cast I swiftly fell in love with, one I hope you’ll come to cherish as well.

A quick little note: Stay tuned after the following introductions, because there are ...

Pre-Order Springtime in Surrey + WIF Camp Registration
The fretful times we live in remind me that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (see 2 Timothy 1:7). Faith in God is the most important aspect of my life, as I believe it should be for every Christian, and I cling to God in these dark times, seeking His power, His love, and His soundness of mind.
The verses that keep coming back to mind are Ephesians 6:12-13, which say, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities...

Choosing to Write (Instead of Read) + Cover Reveal
Reading has been one of my favorite hobbies since before I can remember. There’s a picture that hangs in my parents’ living room that shows me as an eighteen-month-old or so with a book in hand and focus in my eyes. I highly doubt I could read at that age, but my fascination with books remains the same now as it was then.
My mom recently asked me if I ever get tired of reading. The simple answer is no. I love reading. I will likely always love reading. Paperback, hardcover, ebook, and audio a...

Entertaining Research

My favorite research for The Cottage on the Hill was watching clips of Charlie Chaplin and Fred Astaire. I could — and did — get lost on YouTube for hours watching those two creative geniuses at work.
What made Mr. Chaplin and Mr. Astaire stand out from the other entertainers of their time?
That was my main question when approaching the rainy teatime scene in Cottage. As I watched clip after clip, I discovered exactly what it was about those guys that I wanted to capture in Adrian. See...

Listen… During Daily Life
Hi, friends. We’re well into the year now–can you believe summer is pressing in, nearly ready to explode onto the scene? I’m already feeling the heat here in north Texas; we’ve hit the upper eighties and low nineties several times in the last month.
So far this year, my One Word of Listen is going along fairly well. God’s whispers and nudges have come quite regularly in the past four-plus months since I hung my new calendars, and my gut instinct virtually every time has been to say, “Okay, Lo...

Outlining a Book: Chapter by Chapter
First of all, there’s a special weekend coming up here in the States. To all the moms out there, and especially my own, thank you for all you do to raise your kids and support them in the dreams God plants in their hearts.
From my perspective as a daughter, it’s really incredible to have that maternal support as I pursue my writing dreams.
From my perspective as a tutor of middle schoolers, that support is something beautiful to behold, when “my” kids’ moms cheer on their babies as they ...

What I Would Tell You by Liz Tolsma
Searching for one’s identity was a key theme in the contemporary thread in this book. It is such a comfort to find my identity in God and on the pages of His Word.
I am a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).
I am a child of God (1 John 3:1).
I am redeemed (Ephesians 1:7).
There are loads of blog articles that list out various aspects of who Christians are in God’s eyes and because of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the grave. (One such article is th...

Title + Blurb Reveal!
Friends, I have some fun book news to share with you today.
My publisher, Wild Blue Wonder Press, has given me permission to share the title and blurb for my novella that will be published in their debut anthology collection, Springtime in Surrey.
I’m in the midst of revisions right now, and I’m finding that challenging in a positive way. I will admit to being quite overwhelmed at times through this process. Tears may have splashed onto my cheeks on more than one occasion. Struggling throu...
