New Policy + WIF Camp Registration

Right when I think I’m figuring out this blogging schedule thing, a smack to my physical health happens. I’ve been dealing with a hitch in my steps due to tightness in my lower back. Thankfully, I think the episode is nearly over, as my mobility is much better and my pain and discomfort levels are decreasing nicely.

The required rest to heal has been helpful in more than one way. My body has been recuperating, but in practicing listen, my One Word for the year, my spirit has found the restful...

Under Contract

Friends, being under contract for writing a book is new for me. I’m really excited about the opportunity to write another story that will be available to readers at a near-future date, but there are adjustments to be made. My inspirational calendar’s message for February is “Consume Less; Create More,” and I’m finding that to be a true statement in my life these days.

I’m currently still able to carve out family dinner-and-TV time, but I may have to trim that back a bit once some editing jobs...

New Book, New Contract

Friends, I have some pretty exciting book news to share.

New Book

My second book, Seize the Love, will be available tomorrow, February 14, 2023.

What makes this news extra fun is that my mom, Faith D. Cox, has a short story in the anthology collection too. It’s so great that we’re being published together! Honestly, I’m tickled pink about this. My mom and I started writing screenplays during the same year (if I remember right, it was within weeks of each other), so the fact that we’re g...

Christmas Movie Wrap-Up

Yes, this article was supposed to come your way in December. So sorry about the delay!

Still, it’s fun to extend my favorite holiday season of the year a bit and share the movies I most enjoyed watching during the month in which we celebrate our Savior’s birth.

In Theaters

There were actually a few movies my family went and watched in theaters. The following ones were the cream of the crop.

Devotion

While not a Christmas movie, I did see this one during Christmas break.

This t...

Favorite Book Quotes 2022

A few years back, I posted an article about my favorite book quotes for the year. During 2022, I tried to remember to make note of favorite lines with such an article in mind. I know there were more that I forgot to jot down, because I’m still dealing with some memory issues. But here are some of the book quotes I enjoyed last year.

Things We Didn’t Say by Amy Lynn Green

“Sometimes showing grace breaks us before it heals us. Forgiveness can feel like a betrayal of justice. We want other...

One Word for a New Year + WIF Camp Registration

Hello again, my friends! Happy New Year!

December scooted on by without my posting a single blog article. I had such great intentions on getting ahead with scheduling, but life and work sprang up and got busy on me. I am trying to get on a good, solid schedule with blogging again this year, but as you can see, I already missed the first Monday.

How was Christmas for you?

Mine turned out to be really busy and delightful and special all at once. I praise God for the time I got to spend wi...

Recommendations: Christmas Books

Hi, friends. It’s the busiest time of year for me, so let’s keep this short today.

Here are some Christmas books I’ve enjoyed and highly recommend. Some of them are Christmas themed, while others had only one Christmas scene, but they were all rather good reading experiences for me. I hope they will be for you too, if you try any of them.

Note: If you’re a weeper like me (emotional, moody reader), then you’ll want to have a box of tissues near at hand. Honestly, I wouldn’t know what to do ...

Writing Update November 2022

Where has the time gone? I feel like November was but a blink. How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was joyful, praise God. I had the full week off from work, so I considered it a staycation of sorts. During the week, I spent time with my parents and sister, saw three movies in theaters (including my favorite Christmas movie of all time; be sure to come back for next month’s Movie Wrap-Up, because I’ll be talking about that film, and other movies too, in that article), met several new reader friends ...

Movie Wrap-Up November 2022

These are just a few of the movies I’ve enjoyed lately.

Ticket to Paradise
starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts

This movie featured a divorced couple attempting to prevent their daughter from making the biggest mistake of her life while dealing with the results of their own.

While this movie was not completely clean, I found the plot to be charming and sweet as well as romantic and humorous. It was a fun romp, though there were moments that felt silly and inappropriate. I especi...

The Lost Melody by Joanna Davidson Politano

FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.

This was the most atmospheric, immersive book I’ve read all year. It held a Gothic overtone throughout, which lent a creepy harmony to compliment the Victorian melody of the tale set in Hurstwell Pauper Lunatic Asylum. The musical aspects of the story played well against the madness within. It was a beautifully intricate tale that was exquisitely discordant in all the right places. I was mesmerized from t...
