Can You Believe It? (Jill’s Book Blog)
5/5***** A great resource for children!
Now more than ever, it’s so important to be able to spot fake news articles. There are many lies on the internet and children have so much access to technology, the internet, and fake news. It’s important to teach children critical thinking so they can find reliable news sources.
This book is a helpful guide for kids (and adults) on how to identify fake news to stop it from spreading.

Can You Believe It? (J.L., Goodreads)
We need resources like this that teach us to look at media critically and question everything.
Easily digestible with lots of info packed on pages that are broken up with illustrations that are never cluttery, this is a much-needed resource for any library, classroom, and home.

Can You Believe It? (A.B., Goodreads)
I look forward to purchasing a copy for my classroom library in the future!
…the pictures and images are interesting and feature chat bubbles, web browsers and profiles as part of telling the story and giving information. I think this book would be great for teachers and families of children in the 8-14 age range.

Can You Believe It? (S. T., Goodreads)
A must-have for school libraries, classrooms, and homeschool families
…a well written and organized book that would fit perfectly into a social studies or library curriculum at the elementary school level.

Fun with fake news at WOTS 2022!

Thank you to everyone who played “Post or Pass?” with me yesterday at Word on the Street Toronto. As we saw, the kids were vastly more skeptical than the adults–who apparently would have spread fake news far and wide if their kids didn’t stop them!
Thank you also to the #DreamTeam at Kids Can Press, who wrangled authors–and cats! Michaela and Kathleen, you are superstars. Thank you!
Next up is the launch of Can You Believe It? on June 25 at 1:30 at A Different Drummer Books in Burlington. Hope to see you there!

Happy book birthday to CYBI?
June 7, 2022 was the official date for Can You Believe It?!
We posted a sparkly GIF, created by Kathleen Marcotte, on social media and so many wonderful people responded. Thank you to everyone for the likes, the shares and the well-wishes! It may be a pandemic, but we could feel the warmth of our friends and readers online. Thank you!
One exciting moment—in a day of many—was seeing a “Congratulations!” comment on Kathleen Marcotte’s Instagram post from writer and actress Mindy Kaling. It was very exciting! Of all of the celebrities that I’d want to like a book I’d written, she would literally be at the very top of the list. (Of course it had nothing to do with me—it was on Kathleen’s Insta, lol!)
