Monitor

The University of Canberra Monitor has featured Ingrid in its latest edition, highlighting her upcoming young adult novel When the World was Flat (and we were in love).

The article begins:

Why do we say someone just walked on our grave when a shiver goes down our spine? Why do people see ghosts and what does this mean? If you get a flat tyre driving to work in the morning would it change the course of your life?

Author and University of Canberra graduate Ingrid Jonach has always asked questions...

Review: The Radleys

I think I have been blood-minded by this book because I could not put it down (I am not expecting you to understand that reference unless you have read the book)!

I feel a lot of affection for the Radleys. Yes, Mr and Mrs Radley have committed a number of heinous crimes in the past (again ‑ you will have to read the book!), but they are paying their penance.

A New Year! A New Diary!

A new year! You know what that means? It means I can buy a new diary! What a coup for a stationary-aholic!

This year I decided to purchase my diary online, after an hour of wandering between stationary and department stores.

Here are the gorgeous diaries that were in my top five:

Delfonics

This diary combines two of my favourite things – Japan and Deutsche. Huh? These Japanese made diaries seem to have a few language options, including this version which translates as: A HISTORY ONE LIVES. Ummm…...

Fare Thee Well 2012

It has been awhile since I have blogged, for good reason. I have been busy getting hitched and honeymooning!

2012 has been a very big year for me, probably starting when we bought a new house in April. I am not even exaggerating when I say it is a fixer-upper. When you walk through the front door you have to navigate a gigantic hole in the floor, which holds an enormous rusty spiral staircase. It has taken us until now to get the new plans drawn up for approval. I bet you can guess what we wil...

The Next Big Thing!

I was tagged to respond to this meme by the talented Laura Lam, who has a brilliant book coming out next year called Pantomime.

What is the title of your book?

When the World was Flat (and we were in love). Feel free to add it to-read on GoodReads!

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I originally set out to write a modern day Pride and Prejudice, being a total tragic for Jane Austen. I added in the science fiction elements after the first draft, using the theory of parallel dimensions as a...

When the World was Flat in PICTURES!

I stumbled across an embroidery of a heart-shaped map tonight, which made me think of WHEN THE WORLD WAS FLAT (AND WE WERE IN LOVE).

As a result I Googled the three words: WORLD, MAP and HEART and found a lot of pretty pictures! You can see them all here on my Pinterest!

Review: Pantomime

Um… where do I start? Brilliant. Magical. Unique. Shocking. These are the words that come to mind when I think about this utterly gripping and deliciously bizarre novel.

There is not a lot I can say here without giving away the twist (and trust me your jaw will DROP), but I will say that Laura Lam handles a complex and emotional issue in a mature and accessible way.

The love story is endearing – as are the motley band of characters: circus freaks and performers, and the bourgeoisie.
