Blog Tour: Interview

Ingrid chatted with My Bookish Ways as part of her Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour.

Excerpt from My Bookish Ways:

Hmmm…an SF love story based on Einstein’s theories…I’m in! Will you tell us more about your upcoming novel, When the World was Flat (and we were in love), and what inspired you to write it?

When the World was Flat (and we were in love) is my debut young adult novel, which is told from the perspective of sixteen year old Lillie Hart, who is completely confused by her feelings t...

Blog Tour: Judging a Book by its Cover

Ingrid stopped by Ladybug Literature to talk about judging books by their covers as part of her Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour.

Excerpt from Ladybug Literature:

I admit that I do judge a book by it’s cover–literally. I have many books on my shelves with shiny covers or covers that screamed ‘touch me’ because they were covered in cloth or embossed. But what about their contents? I hear you ask.

Read more at Ladybug Literature.

Blog Tour: Identity in Science Fiction and Fantasy

Ingrid has spoken to Jet Black Ink about identity in science fiction and fantasy as part of her Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour.

Excerpt from Jet Black Ink:

I believe all science fiction and fantasy novels challenge our sense of identity by taking us to other worlds that are so close and yet so far from our day-to-day worlds. Think Brave New World and Children of Men.

Think Harry Potter. Each of these novels provide us with an alternative view of the world, whether it is a futuristic world...

Blog Tour: Top Favs

Ingrid has stopped off in Canada at the blog Chapter by Chapter to talk about Top Favs as part of her Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour.

Excerpt from Chapter by Chapter:

You’re home alone, there’s a fire! Top 3 things you’d grab and save from the fire.

Aside from my husband and my dog…

1. My laptop.

My laptop is my life (or my life is my laptop?). I back it up on an external hard-drive at least once a month and also do interim back ups on a thumb drive just in case, seeing as it holds all my s...

Blog Tour: Art Imitating Art

Ingrid has shared the inspiration behind When the World was Flat (and we were in love) with the blog Unputdownable Books as part of her Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour.

Aldous Huxley took inspiration from Shakespeare when writing Brave New World. And, in a case of art imitating art, Conan Doyle modeled Sherlock Holmes on C.

Auguste Dupin, a fictional detective created by Edgar Allan Poe. Stephanie Meyer has said that Eclipse was inspired by Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (even though s...

Blog Tour: The Road to Publication

Ingrid has shared her road to publication with the blog Me, My Shelf and I as part of her Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour.

Excerpt:

April 2009 – I started writing When the World was Flat (and we were in love).

Except it was not called that yet. I actually called it Teen Romance, which was definitely a working title. It was basically a description of the genre I was writing (this was before I decided it would be science fiction).

July 2010 – I finished When the World was Flat (and we were i...

The Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour

I have been very busy these last couple of weeks setting up the blog tour for When the World was Flat (and we were in love).

I can now announce that it will be held from 1 August 2013 to 19 October 2013 and has been dubbed the Around the World in 80 Days Blog Tour! The title is obviously a reference to the famous novel by Jules Verne, but is also a play on my own title.

I thought it was very apt for two reasons:

The bloggers participating in the tour live in as far flung places (for me anyway) a...
