Born in Hampshire in 1954, Mark Probert has spent most of his life as a mapmaker. After twenty-eight years working for Ordnance Survey, he set up his own company in 2003 and spent the following seventeen years travelling extensively overseas. Now retired and living in rural Shropshire, he spends his time writing, walking, cycling and motorcycling. That's when he isn't catching up with the domestic 'jobs list' his wife Jan has finally managed to give him. His second book, due in 2021, is another travel memoir that describes a coast to coast backpacking adventure across India.
