The Liberating Fetters by Arundhati Sahoo

A collection of lovely poems from a girl about girls for girls. There are many sentiments portrayed in the poetries about female foeticide, family, childhood, etc.

The poems are straight from the heart and unassuming, unlike the multifaceted rhyming verses which are sometimes hard to grasp.

Loved it!

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition and Paperback.

Benjamin’s Hidden World: The Twins, The Journey, and The Tablet by Maria Groseanu

This book will take you to a completely new world.

Benjamin is a scientist working to find out a world outside the earth and he gets stuck in the new world. This new world has different types of creatures and Ben joins them on their adventure.

It’s a fun and engrossing read. The only tricky part is that there are many characters in the book and if you read it in a rush you may lose track. So take your time and read it at leisure.

Waiting for fir the next part excitedly.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition.

What do you mean?

I was furious at Mr. Husband this morning. “Why do you never read anything that I recommend?”

“I do but they are super boring.” He tried to defend himself.

“Really? Ok, so what did you try recently?” seething I asked.

“That Naagin Book.”

Any idea what book he was talking about?

‘IKIGAI’
Do you know what is the relation between Naagin and Ikigai?

If you know, enlighten me as well, I have no idea how these two are related.

A Brief History Of Time: From Big Bang To Black Holes by Stephen Hawking

I was today years old when many of my questions were answered about this universe.

The thing that came to my mind was this book should be included in the schools’ curriculum. The language is simple and straightforward and as you go reading you get to know how small we are in this huge universe.

It also has some history about great scientists like Galileo, Newton, etc.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition, Audible Audiobook, Library Binding, Paperback, Audio CD.

Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

This book has a lot of real places and facts and it took me to the Vatican tour. No doubt the description of churches and museums was captivating.

The only downside I felt was the action was dragged at many places and the jumping off the helicopter was just unreal.

Otherwise a good engaging story.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition, Hardcover, Paperback, Mass Market Paperback, Audio CD, Audio Cassette.

Not My Fault

I was a young girl, just 15 years old,
This incident turned me shy and cold.

He came and groped my breasts,
I stood there stunned, hiding my chest.

He ran, turned, looked at me grinning,
I felt like a mess, my head is spinning.

I went home and informed about this,
I was told to keep quiet and dismiss.

I kept blaming myself, my heartache,
Being a girl, was it my mistake?

I kept silent for many days,
The incident poked me like nightmares.

One day I looked up and thought, enough,
This is not fair, I am fed up.

I am the gender that nurtures,
and not just light kitchen burners.

The following day I enrolled in the karate class,
and promised me, no one can dare touch me and pass.

Deception Point by Dan Brown

One of the Dan Brown’s where I felt it was dragged for no reason. The Episode at Goya, sharks, fight on the boat, boat drowning, was too lengthy and it took away my interest after some time.

I loved the first half about the discovery of meteorite and how NASA and the President are projecting it in their favor but the suspense where opened was too confusing and not an acceptable end. It seemed like just wanted to give something different.

Compared to other books of the author, this was an OK read.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition, Hardcover, Paperback, Mass Market Paperback, Audio CD, Audio Cassette.

Just a “Mother”

Mothers are often tagged as stay-at-home or working and that for me is like the casteism of mommies; where each group is trying to justify why they are being so. But let me tell you all, don’t try to rationalize because you are ‘Just a “Mother”’.

When I was pregnant and working, I was told you are not focusing on your unborn child.
When I was on Maternity leave, I was told I am enjoying my paid vacation.
When I re-joined work, I was told I am being ignorant towards my kid.
When I quit the job, I was told I am being unjust to the effort I had put behind my career.
When I became a stay at home mom, I was told I am fooling around doing nothing.
When I started to do my own, I was told I am losing focus on the kid.

I have been through phases of being a full-time working mother to a stay at home mother to a person trying to maintain her identity while balancing the kid and family needs.

So, I just want to say, to all my fellow mothers.

Whatever you do all day; house chores, meeting project deadlines, cooking and feeding or paying EMIs; or anything else. In your heart, you are still ‘Just a “MOTHER”’.

A Mother who gets tired of running behind a toddler the whole day ensuring safety.

A Mother who is exhausted finishing her critical assignment at hand making sure she reaches home on time before nanny leaves.

A Mother who is putting all efforts to get the best and tastiest dishes but heartbroken when the munchkin rejects it.

A Mother who is worried if the day caretaker fed the meals on time or just put it away, lest are they maintaining appropriate hygiene.

A Mother who had suffered mastitis but still managed to breastfeed her baby for 2 years.

A Mother who had to give up breastfeeding due to unavoidable medical conditions.

A Mother who exercised well and maintained a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy still had to cut herself up for a C-section.

A Mother who endured labor for fifteen hours and teared herself up to pushed the baby out.

A Mother who is managing limited finances but still meeting all needs.

A Mother earning loads but anguished to leave the baby with another woman for a few hours.

This is just an iota of what a Mother can be and there are tons of pages to add and will take ages to read if I go on.

Whichever type you are, the heart is always heavy when the baby cries in pain, despaired to see their cuts and scratches, miserable if they are unwell, dejected when they are away from your eyes be it some minutes or hours.

But captivated when you hold them for the first time, delighted with their million-dollar cute smile, thrilled to see their first walk, allured by their clingy hugs.

This heart is full of mixed emotions, coz at the end it’s the heart of ‘Just a “Mother”’.

Origin: (Robert Langdon Book 5) by Dan Brown

The story revolves around two questions, Where have we come from? and Where are we going?

While answering the first question, a very important topic gets discussed if God exists and if He is the real creator of Humans or if it is just science, a mix of chemicals and physics that evolved in humans.

For the second question, it can be a spoiler but it speaks that technology is eating us up and that is where we are heading.

It’s an engaging story and leaves you thinking what if it comes true.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition, Audible Audiobook, Hardcover, Paperback and Audio CD.
