Stories of Birbal: 5 in 1 (Amar Chitra Katha) by Anant Pai

As a child, I was crazy for Birbal’s stories, all for his wit and intelligence in any situation. I learned being observant was the key to deal with any petty or profound matters of life.

Feeling joyful that I was able to revive my childhood reminiscences with this 5-in-1 collection available on Kindle. No wonder these stories are not meant only for kids but adults too.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition, Hardcover.

Soaring Ambitions: Diary of a non medical student by Shefali Arora

It’s a cute and short book, straight from the heart of an engineering student calling herself non-medical all the time, I found this part the funniest.

Although I didn’t appear for any of these entrance exams, still it made me nostalgic with the memories of my engineering course. Loved it.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition.

101 Panchatantra Stories by Dreamland Publications

I just picked up this book for a refresher so that I can narrate a few stories to my son. Most of them were the ones that I had already read as a child so it felt nice to read them again as an adult. The illustrations of the book are top-notch.

It was a good collection of stories but the disappointing part was that they were not all Panchatantra stories. The stories in between seemed to be taken from Non-Indian children’s books. Also, a few of them were repetitive with a slight change of character or style with the same moral at the end. Felt like they were rescripted just to get to the count of 101 stories. There is one story with a moral that good deeds take you to heaven, I disapprove of the inclusion of this story since the target audience of this book is too young to understand heaven and hell of sorts.

Overall it is an OK book. Had the stories been one on a page it would have better readability.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition, Audible Audiobook, Paperback.

The Museum Of Perfect Scenes by Kirran Thompson

It’s a unique story.

Imagine a museum where you can go and find the lives of people exhibited, the scenes from their life on display. Interesting, isn’t it? This book has it all. Another fascinating part of this book is Betty’s collection of coins in a whiskey bottle that is actually her count of mistakes. Why does she do that? Read to find out. Absolutely loved the idea oF living in a pencil-shaped apartment.

I admire the author’s imagination and creative thinking. Smartly crafted and simple language. Would love to read more from her.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition.

A Man Called Ove: The life-affirming bestseller that will brighten your day by Fredrik Backman

I was in tears when this book came to end. I could not take it that it ended. I just wished to stay in the residential area around those people.

Ove’s wife Sonja passed away due to cancer and Ove has already given up on life. Life has no purpose anymore. The only thing he wants to do is take his life and go to her beloved Sonja. But there was something or the other coming up every day from a neighbor who is a lousy driver, his pregnant foreign wife, old couple friends, youngsters working in the cafe, one adamant journalist, a cat who stayed outside his house, etc etc. They always had something for Ove pertaining which he had to delay his suicide plan each day which goes on for years until the day when death itself comes to take him.

There are fun elements carefully placed in the story. It’s an emotional story but certainly does not depress you. I admire Fredrick’s writing style and surely going to check out his other books.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition, Hardcover, Paperback, Mass Market Paperback, Audio CD.

I loved this book. It’s super funny.

Suppandi is getting fired from each of his jobs but the simplicity he maintains is too good. I am falling in love with Suppandi.

Until Then There’s Coffee: Every coffee has a story, a decision, a longing and a hope by Saranya Dhandapani

I am a coffee lover and the title intrigued me to pick up this book and I am not disappointed.

All 25 stories in the book are beautiful, they are unique and each story has an essence of distinct emotion. I am unable to select one favorite out of them but I would like to appreciate one story which was actually a summary of all the stories (not directly but it is penned wonderfully)

Saranya has done a great job in picking up the stories. Recommended.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition, Paperback.

Stranded: Cetacea Chronicles Volume 1 by Aramis Williams, Feather Chelle

It’s an interesting story. Dolphins and whales are escaping their place to save themselves from a deadly virus. The journey is thrilling and you start feeling for them.

Apart from the story, what I loved most was the information provided at the end of the book about marine life, types of dolphins, and whales. Would love to see more illustrations in the next one.

It is available on Amazon Kindle Edition, Paperback.
