When Should I Start Marketing My Book?
This is a common question I’m asked by authors-in-the-making, “When should I start marketing my book?”
My answer is, “Optimally, before you even write the first word.”
A lot of people are shocked when I say that. Probably because they’re scared to start marketing something they haven’t even begun writing yet. What if they aren’t able to do it? What if they say they’ve got a book coming and they can’t get it done? What if they look like a fool in the process?
You don’t have to actually announc...

Facebook Retargeting: Low Hanging Fruit
Facebook advertising is a great way to stay in front of your existing audience and to widenyour following, but many people are overwhelmed bywhat’s involved with Facebook advertising. You may behesitant to dive in fully. If so, start with the low hanging fruit. Don’t let it die on the vine.
Your existing prospects, customers and site visitors are easy to reach through Facebook. These people already know you. They have engaged with you in some way. They may be on your mailing list or they may...

Should I Write a Book?
Most likely you know you’re not going to get rich on a book. Let’s face facts, we can’t all be J.K. Rowling or Eckhart Tolle. But a book does lend credibility to your work and it’s a great way to introduce people to what you do so they will buy your other products and services.
Books are extremely helpful for landingspeaking gigs, and they initiate back-of-the-room sales.Your bookgives people a way to “take you home with them” after hearing you speak. Your book builds the know, like, and trus...

Labels, Trump & Global Identity Crisis
Am I the only one or does anyone else feel like we live in a swirl of nonsense? Seriously, how much of the information thrown at us today really matters or is even true? And is our never-ending quest for self-discovery simply a symptom of a global identity crisis caused by listening to the media’s increasingly distorted ideas about what we’re supposed to think, feel, believe, value, look like, act like etc?
We’re constantly taking quizzes and assessments; trying to be the same, yet different;...

Lose Yourself to Find Yourself
There are a lot of things we can lose in this world, but in the end they are just things. The truly frightening thing is to lose yourself. To wake up to the realization that you aren’t the sum total of your experiences and accomplishments. When everything is stripped away – the stuff, the dreams, the skills, and abilities, your health, and all you’re left with is you, you cry out to God, “What else will you take from me? I’m not even me anymore. Who am I? What am I?”
At last you remember: “I...

What Does Marnie Marcus Do?
When people ask me what I do, I usually say, “I help people share their knowledge and expertise in books, information products, and social media marketing so they can leave the legacy they’re here to leave. I also help companies use social media to educate their customers and increase sales.”
But I know that may send alot of folks scratching their heads, wondering what I do on a day-to-day-basis. So for my family members, friends or anyone else who may be interested, I thought I’doutlinewhat...

Valuing What You Have to Offer the World
I have noticed that people with something important to share often do not value their own story or their message. They may feel as if there’s nothing new in what they’ve been through or they may not see that other people would care to hear what they have to say.
These can be core beliefs developed over a lifetime. Many individuals believe things like:“I’m not good enough” or “I don’t matter” or “I don’t have anything valuable to contribute.”
It’s amazing what happens when I show peoplehow to...

Finding Meaning in the Mistakes
I’m ready to let it go. I’m tired of examiningthe old story, the mistakes, the sins, the absolutely idiotic choices I’ve made. I’m sick of trying to figure out how they happened or why I did them or why other people did what they did.
For whatever reason, I seemed hell-bent on making self-destructive choices … like a runaway freight train barreling over a cliff with no mechanism to stop the inevitable. Perceiving myself as the cautious, level-headed “good girl” for most of my life, I have bee...

Quest for Love: Angels Intervene
Facebook reminded me that 1 year ago today, I was in a car wreck that resulted in about $5,000 worth of damage to my only car. I remember that morning well. I was in the throes of a whirlwind romance. It was one of those all-consuming, instant, chemically-magnetic relationships.
I’d been up late the night before skyping this man who lived 2,000 miles away. In fact, I’d spent literally 60 hours in the previous week talking with him. I know, it sounds insane, but we were both off work for Chris...
