The cops want us taking care of business before they have to. The politicians want us cleaning up old messes before they splatter all over the news. As long as we don’t screw up in public too much, we’re golden.”
“Sounds like a great life,” Vinnie said.
Pete snorted. “Right up to the point where something eats your face. This job is fun, sometimes, but it’s not really safe.”

JUNGLE CRUISE is absolutely ridiculous-looking. I’m thinking about seeing it.
Well, I might have books for Galactic Con after all!
Yes, it was up in the air. But, the books are on their way and should make it here in plenty of time for the convention — which will be, blessedly, indoors. I have virtually everything I need for Galactic Con at this point… except for somebody else to sit the table. I have just belatedly realized that I’m probably gonna need to either eat or use the bathroom at some point…

“Depleted uranium.” Pete held up one hand. “Relax! It ain’t radioactive.” Much. “It’s just real hard. Dense, too. Rips through wards like nobody’s business. And body armor. Bodies, too.”
“Shit. How do you get it?”
“You gotta know a guy who knows a guy in the Army who might have had a problem with blood gremlins in the Pentagon. Why those idiots made it five-sided… anyway, it ain’t just expensive. It’s for special.” Pete cocked his head. “Liches normally count as special, but this one is kind of… weak?”
“Fuck you,” said the lich. “There ain’t no classes for this.” It definitely sounded like a lich, at least, at least in the voice; all hollow and booming. Although there was more of a whine in it than Toledo Pete was expecting. “I was working it out.”

PS: I remember the first year these guys went to Pennsic. They played everywhere they could. EVERYWHERE. The work ethic was inspuring.
Amazon buys MGM for 8.5 billion…
…presumably. The antitrust folks are already starting to go a little pop-vein on the subject, and while such issues are beyond the scope of this blog now they’re still there. And understandably: with MGM’s library Amazon can compete in the Streaming Wars, and it’s in an unique place for selling you physical stuff while it’s giving you access to said library. I don’t know how much that’s worth, but it’s probably worth something.
Other than that, my earlier opinion stands: meh. Somebody’s gonna buy MGM’s library, and I already have Amazon Prime.
So, I’m fiddling with Pinterest tonight. (Yes, help would be lovely.)
And I can’t help but think that I am doing Pinterest precisely wrong. I normally don’t feel like I’m in my fifties. Truly, I do not. But I’m feeling it tonight!
