Spent the evening working on site maps.

The event’s Saturday. We need to have a map of the site – where the official tents go, where the unofficial tents go, guide rope issues, that sort of thing – by Friday night, so that we can get the big tents up then and coordinate the smaller ones on Saturday. So I spent the evening scribbling away on the computer. Fortunately, the site is dead easy to draw.

It’s funny. Everywhere else, my ability to make maps on the fly was subject to at least mild respect and approval. I never had anybody gasp, but they were impressed. But in the SCA, it’s… expected, really. After all, we all learned it the same way: via D&D.

The CRUELLA PITCH MEETING.

There are mega-spoilers, mostly (I suspect) so that you don’t actually have to watch CRUELLA after this. Not that you had to in the first place, obviously. But if you needed to know the plot for some reason, well: here you go.

MORGAN BAROD is off to the editor!

Huzzah! Many thanks to my long-suffering wife and alpha reader, and the considerably less suffering beta readers, for their opinions and reactions. I dunno how long the book’s gonna be in edits, but hopefully we can hit a summer release date. The cover is likewise being worked on right now, and is getting pretty close to done.

In other news: Galactic Con is still a thing, although I’m still trying to figure out how to factor in bathroom breaks. TINSEL RAIN I start working on tomorrow, and I’m not entirely looking forward to it, honestly. There’s a lot of stitching that has to happen. And I would like to do a bunch of writing this summer, now that school’s winding down. But note the italics.

But enough of that. The book is at the editor’s! That means it’s not my problem until corrections start coming back! Huzzah!

Have a good Memorial Day.

It’s a nice, sunny day here on the East Coast. Enjoy as you like, and be thankful for the people who made sure you could enjoy it in peace. …If not quite ‘quiet,’ thanks to the cicadas.

Quote of the Day, Oh F*CK No edition.

And I say this as somebody who uses Amazon to publish my books.

Amazon Sidewalk is a shared network that helps devices like Amazon Echo devices, Ring Security Cams, outdoor lights, motion sensors, and Tile trackers work better at home and beyond the front door. When enabled, Sidewalk can unlock unique benefits for your device, support other Sidewalk devices in your community, and even locate pets or lost items.

Click the link above to see what Amazon products you suddenly don’t want in your house. Although a quick-and-dirty rule of thumb there would be anything with the word ‘Echo’ in the product name.

Willem Dafoe to reprise Green Goblin role?

That’s the rumor. They’re supposedly going to Sinister Six it, which makes sense. Doc Ock and Electro were already announced, complete with the actors who played them in past Spider-Man movies. Never saw THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN movies, so can’t speak to Jamie Foxx; but Alfred Molina was solid as Doc Ock and Dafoe — well, as Weird Al once noted, the dude was even scarier without the mask on. So… I’ll allow it.

I have a Patreon! It’s nifty! There are people who will tell you that!

There has never been a better time to sign up for my Patreon! …Admittedly, that’s still going to be true next month, and the month after that, and so on and so forth. But it remains true now.

Patreon Microfiction: ‘Back of Back of Beyond.’

100WS-Back of Back of BeyondDownload

Bismarck once said that if he heard the world was ending tomorrow, he would immediately move to Mecklenburg – because everything there happens fifty years later. “Back of Back of Beyond” has that energy. Some places just don’t react much to current events.
