Early night tonight…

…tomorrow I have to be out the door by 7 AM to make it to the event site by 8 AM. We need to walk the place, figure out where we’re putting everybody. The recent relaxation of gathering restrictions in Maryland means we can triple attendance, and that’s obviously going to affect where the tents and list fields go, and whatnot. After that, my day is free.

PS: I’m supposed to do something on Monday, I think, but damned if I can remember what it is. Maybe hold the fort while my wife goes for drinks with her sister and cousin. Lord knows she needs some face-time with people, too.

“Liches Get Stitches” is up on Patreon.

Link here. There might be more stories there. I’m not sure.

Also: I have a Patreon! I flatter myself that it’s cool. A buck a month to join, too. Check it out!

Book of the Week: The Illuminatus! Trilogy.

Why? Because Shaenon Garrity mentioned Illuminatus! on Twitter [fnord!], and danged if I can think of a better choice. It’s been a weird week. I wonder if it’s all due to the looming ending of the pandemic [fnord!]; I am stretching out, and some of my mental muscles feel stiff and unused…

Regal, other theaters drop mask policy for the vaccinated.

Just in time, too: my two-weeks is up tomorrow. And, brothers and sisters: I cannot wait to go to the movies this summer. Now that Regal is back up and running I’m giving serious consideration to buying one of their monthly tickets. I’m also considering not, because they’re gonna need all the revenue that they can get for a while.

Moe Lane

PS: I say nothing about wearing or not wearing masks. But I am fully vaccinated, I am not worried about catching or passing along the disease, and if you disagree about the risks then you may wear a mask without a hint of disapproval from me. I ain’t the one living your life.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

…I’m mostly spending it in meetings and walk-throughs, myself, since a lot of stuff got scheduled for the next three days because it was easier that way. Admittedly, it’s meetings and walk-throughs for fun things. My SCA barony is doing its first in-person event in a year and a half, and we got only another week to go before it happens. So I gotta walk the site, see where the tents and list field will need to go, and make little maps. I figure if I do that, I can take it easy for the next event, which will be later this year.

So I guess it’s not so bad, after all. I’ve had better weeks, though.

The ‘They Should Have Put This In Theaters’ INFINITE trailer.

I’d have watched INFINITE in theaters. It looks pretty damned intense*. But I’m not getting another streaming service just to watch this one movie.

Moe Lane

*It has a very… Player Character mindset when it comes to solving problems, too. Maybe I’ll get it when it comes out on DVD.

Some poor fool gave a negative review to PADDINGTON BEAR 2.

I ain’t gonna link to it, because there’s a 40% chance that this is gonna lead to a social media lynch mob and I don’t want any of that on my conscience. But PADDINGTON BEAR 2 had a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and now it has 99%. And it’s precisely this kind of meaningless change that fuels the aforementioned social medial lynch mobs.

That poor bastard (he said, as he draws the shutters and locks up the storefront)…

The books are here!

I will have something to sell at Galactic Con. Bit of a relief, that. The books went from “I dunno” to “They’ll be there tomorrow” with a somewhat unseemly haste — but I took a quick look and everything looks in order, so no worries, right?

Well, aside from the usual ones. Book sales have been, alas, awful this month. Not that I can really complain, since the Kickstarter funded – but to heck with it, I wanna complain anyway.
