SWORDS OF THE SERPENTINE: new shipping date, price warning.

SWORDS OF THE SERPENTINE is Pelgrane Press’s sword-and-sorcery GUMSHOE game, and I’ve been looking forward to getting it. I’ve also pre-ordered it, so the news about the price change is only vexing in an academic way:

The ink issues have been resolved with updated files, and the printers have gone back to work on the print book. They’ve got some backlogs at the moment, and their expected ship date is mid-May. We’ll send out an email before they ship out to confirm pre-orderers addresses. If you haven’t pre-ordered your copy yet, you may be interested to know that, due to increases in the print costs, we’ve had to push up the MSRP of the print book to $59.95/£49.95; however, it will remain at its existing $49.95/£39.95 for pre-orderers.

Yay, inflation! And this is just going to get worse, folks. Now is the time to lock in sales prices.

Hey, it’s Saint Patrick’s Day!

:sigh: Fine. Like Canute, I see the futility of commanding the sea not to rise.* Just try not to get too drunk tonight and stay off the damn roads. …That’s directed at people who aren’t long-time readers. I know y’all who are, are too smart to do something that dumb.

*You will be utterly unsurprised to discover that there is some argument over whether Canute knew he couldn’t command the seas, or if he even ever tried to command the seas at all. The whole damn universe is waiting for us to discover the chronoscanner…

Tweet Thread of the Day, This One Is My Favorite edition.

I don’t know if any of these are real Space Force patches, and I refuse to find out.

GHOSTWIRE: TOKYO out soon,

GHOSTWIRE: TOKYO is coming to the PS5 and PC on March 25, which means that at least we won’t have to listen to many complaints on the console side (PS5s are still insanely expensive*). Still debating on whether to get it. It’s supposedly a pure shooter, and I don’t do well with those. But it looks really pretty, though.

…For given values of ‘pretty.’

*So expensive I won’t even link to them. If you have $1,200 for a gaming console, you have $1,200 for a real computer.

Kevin Feige somehow surprised Sam Raimi wanted to do DOCTOR STRANGE 2.

This is a joke, right?

In a recent interview with Empire, Feige explained how Raimi’s name ended up on the list of directors: “Our executive producer, Eric Carroll, and Richie Palmer were calling around to see who was interested, and Sam’s agent said, ‘What about Sam Raimi?’ We thought, ‘That would be incredible, but there’s no chance of that.’ But he wanted to come in and meet. And in the first meeting, it was amazing to reconnect with him, and see his enthusiasm to jump back into this world.”

Kevin. Bubbeleh. What did you think Sam was gonna do, not take your call?

Look, I’m not saying that Kevin Feige is the most powerful movie mogul in Hollywood, because I haven’t done the research on that. I am however reasonably certain that he has a standing invitations to all of their parties. Producers with that kind of pull tend to get to have even absurd things, and there’s nothing absurd about Sam Raimi doing a superhero-sorcery flick with heavy overtones of horror. Especially when he’s already been credited with one of the best superhero flicks ever.

Feige’s just too good for this world, I’m telling ya.

One week to go on the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter!

We’re back in the inevitable rut, because that’s how these things go. But it’s going well! It could just be even better. So if you know anybody who hasn’t backed my new post-apocalyptic high urban fantasy pulp detective novel TINSEL RAIN, now is the time for decisive action.

Shamus Tom Vargas from FROZEN DREAMS is back! And this time he’s dealing with murdered mages, shadowy conspiracies, and a new Sidekick to train up in Cin City! He’s very excited about it all, really. If only there wasn’t a new Archmage to deal with…
