Dust Short Film: ‘Six.’

I know I’m supposed to feel bad for Charlie…

…and I do, in a detached way, because of her dietary choices. But, honestly? The government’s got the right basic attitude, here. There’s room for precisely one species at the top of the food chain, and that’s mine.

Also: I get the vibe that maybe somebody’s trying to pitch this as a longer show. …I’d watch it. As always, DUST does good work.

Happy Daylight Savings Time Day!

Daylight Savings Time: loudly reviled, cordially loathed – and never, ever changed. I’m sure that there’s some obvious reason why as to the last, but danged if I can figure it out this morning. Clearly I need more coffee…

Open thread, I guess. Not that I really enforce that, anyway.

Movie of the week: Firefox.

That’s the ‘Just fly the damn plane’ Firefox, of course. I’m not sure if I actually want to watch it again, though. You know how it is: the movies that were important when you were young don’t always hold up.

Plus, it turned out that Soviet materials science was horrible. Big shocker, there…

My Mini-Review of THE BATMAN.

Short version: the director liked ARKHAM CITY as much as I did! Oh, and THE BATMAN Did Not Suck.

Slightly longer version: very Gothic. Very, very Gothic. They cut way back on some of the super-gadgetry, and put that energy into mood instead. Everything is dark, dirty, cramped (or overstuffed); I wasn’t entirely sure about Robert Patterson, but he wore the suit well. I didn’t really notice the long watch time, and I think it built well for a sequel.

That being said: this is never getting into the DCEU. Never. The very idea is absurd.

Books of the Week: DAGON/THE CALL OF CTHULHU (For Beginning Readers).

R.J. Ivankovic’s DAGON/THE CALL OF CTHULHU (For Beginning Readers) are, of course, for my youngest child. Something new to read to him at night, you see. Yup. Of course. Surely this is obvious?

So, I’m thinking of getting one of those hanging banners for conventions.

I have artwork that I can use, all of which I explicitly bought with the understanding that I could use it for advertising my books and my site. And it’s not too expensive to buy a hanging banner to attract the eye. The question is, which should I use?

I’m inclined to these three:

All suitably cropped and positioned, of course. Does anybody have any thoughts on what might look best? I like the one in the middle, but I dunno if it’ll sell the most books.

Back from dinner!

Like, a real one. At a restaurant, with hot food and everything. My wife and I had gotten out of the habit of doing that, obviously; but now that things are approaching normalcy again we can start eating out again. I’m looking forward to it. I missed having people around, shockingly.

Tweet of the Day, This Is Extremely Cyberpunk edition.

Also, it’s horrible that this has to exist. But then, Cyberpunk is at bottom horrible. And considerably less fun in real life:
