The Plague continues.

To the point where our weekend visit to the in-laws took a spoke to the wheel. Aggravating, but what can you do? My father-in-law is over seventy, and we as a culture now frown on the idea of exposing them to respiratory diseases. Including something like this one, which seems to be steadily mutating to a new, mildly annoying variant as it jumps from family member to family.

In unrelated news: about forty Rhesus monkeys escaped recently from the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center in South Carolina. …Damn, but that is precisely the name I’d pick if I needed something that sounded alarming for my biohazard apocalypse novel. Not that these monkeys did that, unless they were being used to research biological time travel. No, I don’t know why you’d use monkeys for that, either. But then, I don’t know why you’d want to research time travel in the first place. You might screw up, and figure out how to actually do it.

There is plague in the house.

The kids brought something home. Fortunately, it’s probably not Covid, since the tests are coming back negative. But it’s going around, and I’m not entirely sure I missed it. Pretty much nothing got done today, honestly.

So, last night I discovered BACON STEAK.

It tasted exactly as good as it looks, with a wonderful smoked-sweet glaze, and so rich I could barely finish half of it. This is a four-person appetizer. Maybe six. One person should not eat all of it at a setting.

The question is, what do I do with the rest? I suggested putting it in soup, and the very thought horrified my wife. But I have to do something with it today, or else freeze it and hope I can come up with an idea. Thoughts?

I gotta decide on Awesome Con.

$375 for a table for three days. It’s expensive, but the foot traffic is insane there. Rough calculations are, if I sell 16 books a day, I should basically break even. I’ll need to maybe turbocharge that crowdfunding the RPG thing I was thinking about doing via Backerkit, get the money together to have it at the sale, if I want to have something new. And then there’s the chance for increased Kindle/KU sales. But that’s a good hunk of change that we’re talking about, here. And higher sales than I normally sustain.

I will need to decide this in the next couple of days.

Today is a very important day!

It’s my wedding anniversary. Oh, and Guy Fawkes’ Day, which wasn’t intentional. I hear there’s some other stuff going on, too.

I wasn’t really surprised when the knock on the hotel door came, except that it took so long. I hadn’t been joking when I told Lucas that trouble followed guys like me around. Heck, this time it had even waited until I had gotten a glass of wine around me. Wine! It really was a vacation.

So it was with only a little bit of an eye-roll that I got up to answer. “Look, compadre,” I started saying as I opened the door, “whatever you’re up to down here, it’s nothing to do with me—”

And that’s when the gal tried to slap a mickey on me.

The upcoming “The Secret World- North America” Kickstarter.

It looks like they’re actually giving the game line some support: The Secret World- North America looks like it’ll be both 5e and Savage Worlds, too. I will almost certainly be grabbing it for the latter. I’m sorry, but 5e is a clumsy fit for a lot of game worlds: which is to say, ones that were not designed with D&D 5e in mind.

But never mind me.

And yes, I know that THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM is anime. That’s one of the reasons why I want to see it. I think the aesthetic is a good fit.
