Happy Festivus!
Everything is actually fine. No particular grievances. But it’s still a funny bit!

‘Chanukah Song.’
12/22/2024 Snippet, TIMMY AND THE BAD PLACE.
Ah, my old friend/enemy in media res.

This wasn’t the first time Timmy had to run away on a wet winter’s night. It wasn’t even his — fourth, fifth time? He wasn’t really sure. Timmy got chased a lot, in this kind of weather. That’s why he wore boots that wouldn’t slip in the snow. You never knew.
He didn’t like being chased, but at least he knew how to do it now. You kept your eyes open, and your ears even wider. And you didn’t run faster than you had to, either. You did that, you lost your breath fast, and then you were caught.
Timmy figured he was gonna get caught at some point anyway. But that was why you kept your eyes open. You only cut and run when you want to find a good place to turn, and fight. Or at least a better place.
You didn’t waste your breath whining, either. That’s why he didn’t even mutter, “Where’s the garbage cans?” as he ran. He just thought it real hard.
Just like he thought about how Frostvile Pines absolutely sucked.

Baby Jesus will be born in three days’ time. I know He wants me to be good. So I will only say: no, I did not photoshop that picture.

Patreon Microfiction: The Foyer.

I would like to tell the story of what happened when we showed up at the Amalgamation’s welcoming center, only to discover that it was an abattoir and so was the rest of the Galaxy. Alas, that’s the story, right there. Everybody was dead, and none of the discoverers were never going to figure out why. So we’re left with stuff like ‘The Foyer.’ Frozen moments of horror, suspended in time forever.

‘Men of the Sea.’
Yeah, I was looking for something else but never mind this is fine.
Men of the Sea, from To Drive the Dark Away by The Broadside; and if you can find it on Amazon, let me know.
Alternate Fermi Resolution Maps: 2807 AD (Dawn of the Third Age).
Also the day the War started, which is not a coincidence (Don’t forget to sign up for notifications and the Launch Party for the Fermi Resolution Worldbook Backerkit!).

In retrospect, the Dominion picked a really bad time to have a succession crisis and civil war. It wasn’t just the loss of their Deseret conquests; the Imperium Orci was allowed to conquer south largely unsupervised. By the time the Dominion reasserted full control over the Imperial Court, missionaries had already begun spreading the good words of Christianity, civics, and the Enlightenment.
Moral of the story? I dunno. Don’t try to take over the world?

Book of the Week: Hogfather.

I have a powerful urge to sit down and read me some JRR Tolkien and Terry Pratchett. No, I don’t know why I’m not doing that, right now. Maybe because I think I’d need to get some cocoa going, first, and it’s a bit late for that.
At any rate: Hogfather by Sir pTerry is excellent. But hopefully you knew that already. I just wish they’d stop saddling his books with such awful covers…

Happy Solstice!
I for one am glad that the days will start getting longer now. Admittedly, I still have to suffer through three months or so of bad weather, but that’s life in a temperate climate. I don’t think I’d like living in the tropics all the time, either.

‘Little Drummer Boy.’
I don’t care what people think; this is my favorite Christmas carol.
