Hi everyone, I'm a first-time writer whose book was published this year.

A couple of caveats about Please Open in the Event of My Death:

1) In spite of its somewhat morbid title, the book is meant to entertain and be funny, which is hinted at by the deliberately long and unwieldy subtitle "A Father's Advice to His Daughters In Case Something Horrible Happens (Which Hopefully It Won't But Just in Case...)" which oh geez that sounds really terrible sounding too. Just trust me that it won't be depressing.

2) It is an book of advice addressed to my daughters, but geared toward adults. The life lessons from a 20+ year New York City litigator are not corny or blindingly idealistic and um, occasionally have profanity.

In deciding that I would write a book of advice for them and in essence a Manual for Life, my inspiration and motivation was completing this before an untimely and premature death. There is no more pressing mandate than this. Also, it was much more fun to do this creative writing as opposed to the legal writing that I normally do. (less)
