Why We Need Feminism in 2021 #25

Day 25 of #whyweneedfeminismin2021

Can we just go ahead and simply accept the fact that cooking is just a basic life skill. It is needed, but it does not define you, specially when you are a woman.

I am sure you know what I am talking about, the stares, the glares, the frowns when one hears that a woman does not know how to cook, or they put in front of you, a half-baked-half-burnt pie. Oh, forbid!! At times it is just humorous, and at times plane drab.

Also, have you noticed that cooki...

Why We Need Feminism in 2021 #24

Day 24 of #whyweneedfeminismin2021

Juggling responsibilities has been a constant confusion. I wonder why!

Oh, so many roles, mother, daughter, wives, daughter-in-law, sisters, chef, cooking, cleaning, pick up the child, drop them to school, visit friends, show up at every functions, look good, don’t be tired.

It is all unrealistic, all inhuman.

#qotd Do you fit into this superhuman category?

#aotd I don’t. I sulk around for hours even if I am home after a shopping spree. Me, lazy!...

Why We Need Feminism in 2021 #23

Book cover revealed!

Resignation of an Angel
Coming soon.

Because most girls are still raised with the concept of adjusting and compromising more in the household. What if the parents told them that no they don’t need to adjust or compromise, they don’t need to make themselves unhappy, that they are there for them, come what may. Just saying. There is a possibility we would have happier, healthier women,  a result of which would be happier, healthier homes.

We understand that life is not...

Why We Need Feminism in 2021 #22

Something’s brewing?

This is brewing!!

Because I wrote a small book on it, a collection of poetry. Okay, just kidding. I mean yes there is a book, and that is the reason why we still need feminism but along with there is another reason too and that would be body-shaming. Yes, being healthy and fit is important, but a person’s shape or size does not stand for his health, not always. And even if it was, no one has the right to touch on these topics when talking to someone else. They prob...

Why We Need Feminism in 2021 #21

“Girls who are smoke aren’t good girls.” You translate this sentence into any language you like but it is always there. “लड़किया सिगरेट  पीते अच्छी  नहीं लगती”

No. Its not about a gender. Cigarette smoking is injurious to health, irrespective of any gender. And if someone is still doing it, it is by choice. Same goes for consumption of alcohol, doing late nights, preferences in clothes, eating unhealthy, any simple and small wrong habit. Nothing specifically sticks to women. It is gender neut...

Why We Need Feminism in 2021 #20

Pink tax is definitely one of the reason why we need feminism. Illegal or not, it is wrong. How come the same products when targetted for women increase in price? How come the same shampoo, conditioner, razors, swimsuits, become so expensive when they are not targetted towards men? What is this gender based price discrimination? Also, how the contraceptives used by men and sanitary differ in prices so much? Where is the underlying need?

#qotd Have you ever noticed these discrimination?

Rea...

Day 19 of #whyweneedfeminismin2021

Because It still remains a rarely discussed topic.
Still is frowned upon.
Only 36% of menstruating population use sanitary pads even today.
A study stated that over 71% of girls had no information or misinformation on menstruation.
There are households around the world which still refer to menstruation as impure and ask them to not touch anywhere, do not let them enter the kitchen or make them sleep on the floor along with other superstitions associated.
(You sho...

Why We Need Feminism in 2021 #18

Now this one is my favourite, I cannot wait any longer to put it out here.

Yes, not all men! YES, NOT ALL MEN!! I get it. What I don’t get is why do I have to keep listening to it as rote whenever I talk about feminism, or equality, or about someone glaring at me. Clearly, I am not talking about those ‘not all men’ then why does suddenly a row of defences storm towards me? Why is there a need to defend? And who are we defending anyway? I don’t start defending myself when I hear about a woman chea...

Why We Need Feminism in 2021 #17

Ever been in a situation when a man asks you out, and you tell them ‘No’ and then they assume it to mean ‘try harder’, or ‘use other means to pursue us’. This goes on until you tell them that you are seeing someone, that you have a boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, and then they very politely but with admitted dejection back off.

Yeah? Same!

Clearly, men respect other men more. How come a no is not simplified while the fact that you are already with someone is? A NO means NO! What other language is...

Umm, bra strap!

I am just going to leave it here and go actually. How does a bra strap become such a shhh-shhh topic. Bring me one person who hasn’t been eyed for that strap showing up or that eyebrow raise for a little bit of cleavage.

Clothes or skin does not account for respectability and worth. It is about comfort. What needs to be shushed and closeted is the glaring eyes that embarrass someone.

#qotd Have you ever been embarrassed or eyed?
