Getting new pieces from the kiln

When I have a moment to relax, it’s always a nice boost to my mood to look over each piece and follow the colours and shapes to see what interesting journeys they may take me on.

Recently we were able to complete a raku firing which means theis beautiful new work will soon be coming to the site for sale, but before they do, I would like to invite you to be among the first to view this new artwork!

Here is a sneak peak! For me, the colours and bubbles on this vase evoke a primordial soup or volcano. But more importantly, what do you See? and how do you like our latest addition to the vase Family?

Hello. I know
you’ve missed me.Adding a little culture to the club!

I, Chairman Meow, have been busy preparing for the holidays because the humans are not doing it to my satisfaction. I am much more effective than they are – but they don’t ever admit it. One day they will take over this place when I am bored with it, but until then I will continue giving them my newest lewk.

Trading (More Than) Faces

Like any skill, raku pottery takes learning and practice

Which means taking a look at old work and learning more about what I like and do not. This helps me to further define my artistic practice.

The sun is out this morning (with plans for a bisque firing!), so before getting set up I was taking a look at this vase called Madame Pele’s Flow and taking a few pictures to share with you In this piece, I love how the colours almost look like a volcano. Read her full story here

‘Madame Pele’s Flow’ tells the tale of a sometimes beautiful goddess who was right at home in the flames of raku. Not only could she sometimes appear as a beautiful woman, but also a white dog, even an old woman, but also a lava flow.
