White Walker $68

This vase pays homage to one of my favourite television series, that captivated me right until the rushed and disappointing ending, Game of Thrones!

I present to you the raku pottery vase ‘The White Walker’, rising up from the snow covered ground.

The White Walkers were an ancient race of formerly-human ice creatures who came from north of the wall. As the books and tv series progress, they become humanities greatest threat. Think icy zombies.

This vase celebrates the defeat of the Night King at the hands of Arya Stark, which resulted in the complete obliteration of the Night Army. Which, in case you don’t watch the show, is a very good thing!

Too bad the ending of the series was not such a good thing. At least we have the final books to look forward to!

Who will be your victor? Be sure to get your vote in BELOW!

Their fate is now in your hands!

We will share the winner (and update from last week!) next Thursday!

Well . . .it’s certainly easier than this!

“Wesley was always outraged when he woke himself up with a screech in his sleep, and he blamed me. He would whip around to face me with an intense librarian’s stare as if I had broken a cardinal rule.”

― Stacey O’Brien, Wesley the Owl: The Remarkable Love Story of an Owl and His Girl

The Alchemist’s Studio is proud to now guarantee that our Raku Owls will not screech at you while they sleep.

and that is a promise we can definitely keep.

*PLEASE NOTE: If it does start screeching,
we think you may have a larger problem on your hands.

Happy Tuesday!

Change & Finding Opportunity

How do you navigate change?

This year, most have us have had to navigate through changes. With a global pandemic and so much upheaval in the world, it would be hard not to be affected in some way.

The outside of the studio, before and after an exterior facelift!

As many of you know, I have been renovating my studio since last year. As I moved into the interior of the studio to begin my renovations there this Spring, getting building supplies became more complex and delayed, (not to mention kiln parts) and of course that limited my ability to create, which has been frustrating to say the least.

Studio interior, mid renovation. My old wheel, which was on it’s last legs!

But within frustration is opportunity. 2020 was the kind of year I had to let go of all my expectations and plans. So eventually I did, and here’s what happened:

The new studio isn’t quite finished now, but it’s back to the point where I can make beautiful things, so stay tuned. It turned out better than I could have ever dreamed, and it really is like walking into a new building. Perhaps it was through slowing down, letting go, and finding the possibilities in change that allowed this transformation.

In what surprising ways has 2020 brought change for you?

In the meantime as we get fired up again, why not take a look at some of our raku vases. Have a wonderful weekend everyone and don’t forget to sign up for our Newsletter to keep up to date on our journey.
