Megyn Kelly Mocks Zohran Mamdani, AOC as Privileged ‘Cosplayers’ With Fake ‘Street Cred’ | Video

The Bronx tough talk, the eating with the hands – it’s all fake, says Megyn Kelly, who called out “cosplayers” Zohran Mamdani and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for exaggerating their humble backgrounds to gain a foothold with voters. Both, “The Megyn Kelly Show” host said Monday, are actually pretty privileged.

Zohran, the democratic socialist nominee for New York City mayor, is “out there cosplaying like a third-world person, because he lived in Uganda for the first seven years and then moved here. He’s 33. This video of him eating with his fingers is circulating while he’s talking about how he understands the third world.”

Kelly was referring to a viral video of Mamdani eating a meal with his fingers – or possibly a piece of bread. In any case, “that’s not how somebody who’s an American eats, but it’s him cosplaying third world person and understanding third world even though his mother is a multi-millionaire film director and his father is a chair professor at Columbia!”

Kelly noted that Mamdani’s mother is the acclaimed Indian‑American filmmaker Mira Nair, best known for directing films such as “Monsoon Wedding,” “Mississipi Masala” and “The Namesake” – which she reportedly passed on a “Harry Potter” film to direct.

“[Mamdani] talked her out of doing it in favor of directing something that was more akin with their values, and that made $20 million,” Kelly said. “This is the guy who’s going to be our economic steward in America’s greatest city? Once you forgo the billion-dollar film for the $20 million film, because it’ll make me feel good about myself.”

As for AOC: “She’s a liar. She’s another cosplayer,” Kelly said. “Anyone can do what she’s doing. You look at your circumstances and talk about them in the most dire terms possible, to make yourself sound tougher than you are, to make it sound like you overcame more than you did, and, in her case, to make it sound like you have street cred when you try to fight the oligarchy. Honestly.”

Kelly pointed out that while Ocasio-Cortez lived in the Bronx until she was 5, she was mostly raised in a tony neighborhood in Westchester: “What she wants to do is to inflate the five years of Bronx living when she was a toddler, into her actual origin story.”

Kelly used her own upbringing as an example of how someone could make a fairly privileged life sound less-so.

“I could sit here and say I was raised by a single mom who was a nurse, who put me through college with their own blood, sweat, and tears. It’s true. All of that is true, except there’s some context,” she said. “For the first 15 years of my life, I had an intact family. My dad was alive and well, and was a college professor … And we were double-income family, and my mom was within nine credits of getting her PhD, and was eventually a nursing manager, and then my dad died suddenly, and my mom did have to put me through college with my dad’s insurance money. So yeah, we had some knocks, but you see what I’m saying, leaving out the other part would lead you to think I had a much tougher childhood than I really did.”

Watch the entire thing in the videos above.

Paul Feig Donates $100K to National Immigration Law Center, Calls Trump ICE Policy ‘Unconscionable and Unacceptable’

As ICE raids and anti-immigration crackdowns continue to escalate nationwide, writer-director Paul Feig made a $100,000 donation to the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), he shared with TheWrap Monday.

Founded in 1979, the NILC advocates and fights for low-income immigrants and their families throughout the country. In a statement to TheWrap, Feig called the heightened persecution of immigrants in Los Angeles and beyond “inhumane and cruel.”

“The inhumane and cruel persecution of immigrants in our communities is unconscionable and unacceptable,” he said. “In Los Angeles and across the country, the hardworking people we interact with every day are sincere in their desire to build a rewarding life in the U.S. for themselves and their families. Their pursuit of the American Dream is precisely what our country was built on. After all, what’s more American than trying to make it in America?”

The filmmaker then called on the country’s leaders to embrace the immigrant experience.

“Instead of stoking fear and resentment, our country’s leaders should pursue immigration policies based on a fundamental truth: immigrants make us stronger,” he said.

Before he was elected, President Donald Trump vowed to increase pressure on deporting undocumented immigrants as a significant focus of his campaign. Since his inauguration in January, United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids have occurred publicly and frequently, with documented and undocumented immigrants alike fearing for their safety from the often-masked agents.

A University of Southern California graduate, Feig made a name for himself when he created the cult classic comedy series “Freaks and Geeks.” He directed a number of episodes of successful comedy shows following “Freaks and Geeks,” including “The Office” and “Arrested Devel0pment.” From there, he launched a successful career in film as a comedy writer/director, helming such projects as “Bridesmaids,” “Spy,” “A Simple Favor” and 2016’s “Ghostbusters.” Most recently, “Another Simple Favor” premiered in March.

Feig’s NILC donations follows a $300,000 contributor The Trevor Project, Translifeline.org and It Gets Better — all queer advocacy organizations — earlier this year. In mid-June, the filmmaker took to social media to condemn the Trump administration’s shuttering of suicide prevention services for members of the LGBTQ community.

This is unconscionable. Truly. The level of cruelty from this administration knows no bounds. https://t.co/dFdKLYDyM0 via @NYTimes

— Paul Feig (@paulfeig) June 18, 2025

LA recently found itself at the center of national conversation, as Trump deployed the national guard to stem protests against ICE activity. In June, the Los Angeles Dodgers committed $1 million in donations to immigrant families.

In a statement to TheWrap on Feig’s donation, Kica Matos, the organization’s president, said, “Now more than ever, we need Americans from all walks of life to step up and fight to support vulnerable immigrants. Not only are they under attack, but the path to authoritarianism is being built on their backs. We are grateful for Paul’s generous support, as it will help continue to fuel our advocacy – not just in support of low income immigrants, but also our democracy.”

The Ankler first reported the news.

Ariana Madix Assures Fans ‘Love Island USA’ Is Not Rigged: ‘Don’t You Start Making Up Conspiracies’

“Love Island USA” Season 7 host Ariana Madix told TheWrap she’s stepped into a new role this season: conspiracy debunker.

While the hostess and self-proclaimed superfan enjoys engaging with fans’ content online, often reposting and responding in the comments, Madix said she will not tolerate fans calling the show “rigged.”

“You can have whatever opinions you want to have about the show itself, but I will tell you: Don’t you start making up conspiracies,” she told TheWrap Monday. “I’m not a conspiracy theorist, so I’m the debunker.”

The Peacock reality series has garnered 623 million video views to-date on TikTok as of June 23, up 232% since last season. The former “Vanderpump Rules” star it’s been exciting to see that growth since joining at the beginning of Season 6. She added she regularly tears up seeing fans attend watch parties across the country and making edits of their favorite couples.

In passionate online chatter about this season, hot takes run wild. Some fans have been stumped by the lack of romantic connections forming nearly a month into the series. Madix credits this hesitation to couple up to the cast skewing younger in age.

“When they say online that Gen Z is a little bit more reserved or nervous to be considered cringe, I did notice that,” she said of hosting the series the past two seasons. The host noted that once the Islanders first arrived and even the first night in Casa Amor the cast seemed nervous and took a little extra time to warm up.

Her advice to the Islanders — if she was allowed to speak to them candidly in the Villa, she said — would be that none of it’s permanent and they can always change their mind, especially if they refuse to be “closed off.”

“As an elder millennial, I just want to tell them that to be cringe is to be free,” she added.

To the critics that say the show feels more gamified this season, Madix said the series always has had an element of that. Even she, who has a front row seat to the drama, can never predict what will happen. But the reality star herself said that it’s impossible to calculate appearances for the camera 24/7.

“As much as someone might try to gamify the show for themselves while they’re in there as an Islander, you cannot for 24 hours a day,” she said. “It’s nearly impossible to really be able to fully keep that mask on at all times.”

“If America does feel a certain way about certain Islanders, they do get their say,” she said, encouraging fans to vote online in the show’s final two weeks. “So if someone is trying to super gamify everything, and if they find out that they’re in the bottom, they’ll be like, ‘Wait, oh.’”

The reality star turned Broadway actress said hosting the reality series feels like embodying another character. She enters the Villa to a countdown track. She dresses to the nines, but the reality star said that one of the hardest parts is staying unbiased when interacting with the Islanders.

During Friday night’s heated recoupling at the end of Casa Amor, Madix said she had some advice she wished she could have given to Olandria Carthen after her longtime partner Taylor Williams chose a new bombshell over her four weeks into the experience.

“I really wish I was able to talk to Olandria and tell her like, ‘This is for the best,’” she said. “We still want Taylor to find love too. I want Clarke to find love too. But I also want Olandria to find love with someone who, like isn’t breadcrumbing her, isn’t sure if they’re attracted to this goddess of a woman.”

The host joked she tried to “telepathy all of that to her brain,” while keeping her composure.

“I almost wish I could have just said, ‘I know this is hard right now in this moment, but trust me, it is a redirection to what is meant for you,’” she said. “But of course I can’t say that.”

“Love Island USA” Season 7 airs every day except Wednesdays on Peacock. The season finale is Sunday July 13.

Moncler Teams With Donald Glover for an Ojai-Inspired Clothing Collection

Moncler teams up with Donald Glover for an Ojai-inspired collection, Regen Projects presents Kevin Beasley’s “What delineates the edge,” FIFA celebrates the debut of its ready-to-wear brand in Beverly Hills and Eleventy Milano opens at South Coast Plaza

Luxury fashion brand Moncler has teamed up with Emmy-winning actor and Grammy-winning musician Donald Glover on a new Genius collection inspired by Gilga Farm, his creative hub and retreat located in Ojai, California.

Titled Moncler x Gilga Farm, the collection reinterprets Moncler’s alpine heritage through a Californian lens, blending the brand’s mountain wear DNA with Glover’s focus on functionality, comfort and everyday usefulness.

The collection includes quilted jackets, technical linen canvas, wool-cashmere knits, lightweight ripstop windbreakers and a standout burnt orange suede jacket. Other key pieces include oversized workwear-inspired layers, shorts, cotton tees and a convertible duvet jacket that transforms into a sleeping bag — a reference to Moncler’s original sleeping bag product. The pieces are designed to be wearable in transitional weather, balancing practicality with relaxed style.

Colorways are inspired by the Ojai Valley landscape and Gilga Farm’s surroundings, featuring washed pinks, creams, oranges and pale blues. Natural-feel fabrics are used throughout and orange fiber — a nod to Gilga’s citrus groves — is woven into select garments. The orange also appears as a recurring motif in logos and design accents.

Footwear includes a simplified version of the Moncler Trailgrip Vela sandal, made from cotton ribbon and leather and finished with a pale pink Vibram sole.

The collaboration also introduces playful design elements, including patches, comic strip graphics and a reimagined version of Moncler’s Monduck mascot, shown as a farmer character across the collection. Animated care labels — voiced by Glover — reference the Monduck tag found in his first Moncler jacket, blending personal storytelling with brand heritage.

“Functionality is key — it’s something that connects the world of Gilga and Moncler,” Glover said of the collaboration. “We both create for real-world usefulness.”

The campaign features a short animated film in which a cartoon version of Glover falls asleep at Gilga Farm and dreams of a Moncler alpine landscape, illustrating the merging of both worlds.

Moncler x Gilga Farm is available now at select Moncler locations and online at moncler.com.

Source: DiorA new book and exhibit explore Christian Dior’s floral inspiration

A new book titled “Dior Enchanting Gardens” explores the central role that nature, gardens and flowers have played in the creative universe of Christian Dior and the legacy of the house he founded.

Published by Rizzoli, the volume traces Dior’s lifelong fascination with the natural world, which began in his childhood home, Villa Les Rhumbs in Granville, and extended to other private residences including the Château de La Colle Noire in Montauroux and the Moulin du Coudret in Milly-la-Forêt. These locations and their gardens are presented chapter by chapter, offering insight into how they influenced both Dior’s personal life and creative output.

Flowers were a key inspiration for Dior from the start — notably in his 1947 New Look collection, which featured the Corolle line, and in the creation of Miss Dior, his first fragrance. The book connects these early inspirations to the work of Dior’s artistic successors, including Maria Grazia Chiuri, showing how floral motifs have remained a defining element of the brand’s aesthetic through decades of couture and fragrance design.

Alongside text contributions, the book features rare archival documents and photographs by leading fashion photographers such as Henry Clarke, Patrick Demarchelier, Brigitte Niedermair and Paolo Roversi. Garments are shown alongside Dior’s most iconic fragrances in a visual and historical survey that spans from the original femme-fleur silhouette to contemporary designs.

Dior Enchanting Gardens” includes a preface by Jean-Paul Claverie, an introduction by Brigitte Richart and essays by contributors including Philippe Deliau, Amy de La Haye, Vincent Leret, Barbara Jeauffroy-Mairet and Coline Zellal.

The book is a companion to the exhibition of the same name, running at the Musée Christian Dior in Granville, France through Nov. 2.

Regen Projects presents Kevin Beasley’s What delineates the edge “Synth II” by Kevin Beasley (Source: Regen Projects)Regen Projects presents Kevin Beasley’s “What delineates the edge”

Artist Kevin Beasley returns to Regen Projects this summer with “What delineates the edge,” his second solo exhibition at the gallery. Known for his sculptural work that fuses found materials with experimental processes, Beasley continues his exploration of memory, materiality and spatial form through a new series of wall-mounted slabs and freestanding sculptures.

The exhibition centers on the idea of thresholds — both literal and metaphorical — bringing together personal and cultural references. Using his signature cast resin technique, Beasley incorporates objects such as bedsheets, military uniforms, hats, carbon fiber, denim and shoes into sculptural screens that function like movable partitions. These works act as armatures for meaning, creating porous, layered boundaries that invite viewers to navigate the space through improvisation.

Also on view are Beasley’s “Synths” — large resin panels embedded with items like raw cotton, chipped pool cues, PPE components and T-shirts. The compositions reference both Beasley’s personal history growing up in Virginia and broader cultural narratives, with the materials sometimes clearly visible and other times obscured. The title, drawn from musical synthesizers, reflects the work’s aim to translate memory and emotion into visual form.

The show follows Beasley’s recent large-scale installation at Storm King Art Center and recent exhibitions at the Walker Art Center and the 15th Gwangju Biennale. His work is held in major public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Tate Modern in London and the Art Institute of Chicago.

“What delineates the edge” is on view at Regen Projects, 6750 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, California 90038, from July 2 to Aug. 16.

Reformation x StyledSara debut the Sara Linen DressSource: Lindsey Molk (Soulclubb)Reformation x StyledSara debut the Sara Linen Dress

Reformation, the cult-favorite Los Angeles label known for its effortlessly feminine silhouettes and commitment to sustainability, has launched a new collaboration with stylist and fashion consultant Sara Walker

The Sara Linen Dress is a ladylike midi crafted from 100% linen, complete with scalloped trim and buckle details that channel Walker’s deep archive of fashion references. “I designed a piece that feels effortless and flattering, but still packed with personality,” she said. “The scalloped trim was inspired by a 1960s fashion magazine I’ve kept for years, and the buckle details are a subtle wink to a ‘90s runway moment I’ve never forgotten.”

The dress will be available in three distinct colorways: Stampede, a chocolate brown zebra print; Nectarine, a coral-and-orange colorblock; and Parmesan, a soft yellow with crisp white accents.

To celebrate the launch, Walker hosted an intimate lunch at the Chateau Marmont earlier this month. Guests including Tezza, Angela Fink, Gab Waller and Liv Perez all wore the new design, styled their own way — a fitting tribute to Reformation’s blend of timeless appeal and individual expression.

This collaboration follows a string of successful partnerships for the brand, which has previously teamed up with fashion and culture tastemakers like Kacey Musgraves, Devon Lee Carlson and Laura Harrier.

Priced at $278 USD, it’s available now online and in Reformation stores nationwide—each boutique carrying one exclusive colorway.

A$AP Rocky has teamed up with Ray-Ban to debut the Wayfarer Puffer, a bold new take on the brand’s most iconic silhouette. Designed under his new role as creative director, Puffer is the latest addition to the A$AP Rocky x Ray-Ban collection.

The frame is defined by its inflated, sculptural shape—pushing the boundaries of classic eyewear design, while the campaign, shot in Harlem, features local artists and friends from the neighborhood where he grew up.

The Wayfarer Puffer first appeared on the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala, where Rocky wore a one-of-a-kind version customized with 18K gold logos, natural diamonds and gemstone-set rivets. He later introduced additional colorways—including green, red, yellow, white and pink—at a private event in Cannes.

The Wayfarer Puffer is now available on Ray-Ban.com, in Ray-Ban stores, and at select EssilorLuxottica retailers including Sunglass Hut.

Top ‘60 Minutes’ Correspondents Pleaded With Paramount to Fight Trump Lawsuit | Report

All seven correspondents from “60 Minutes” pleaded with CBS News parent company Paramount to “put up a fierce and unrelenting fight” against Donald Trump’s $20 billion lawsuit in a May letter to corporate brass, the newsletter Status reported Monday.

Signatories included Lesley Stahl, Scott Pelley, Bill Whitaker, Anderson Cooper, Sharyn Alfonsi, Jon Wertheim and Cecilia Vega, according to the report by former CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy. The plea was included with their collective request to elevate longtime staffer Tonya Simon to executive producer, Status reported.

The letter was sent to Paramount co-chief executives George Cheeks, Brian Robbins, and Chris McCarthy. Paramount did not immediately respond Monday to a reqest for comment.

The famed journalists “emphasized that the show has always corrected any errors transparently, in keeping with its determination to serve the public as an honest broker of news. But, they added, when they are factually correct, they must defend themselves from attack,” Darcy wrote.

They also “pointedly expressed concern that Paramount is failing to put up a fierce and unrelenting fight in the face of Trump’s lawsuit over the program’s Kamala Harris interview,” according to Status.

As many legal experts have done, the journalists ripped Trump’s allegations as baseless, and “warned in no uncertain terms that if Paramount were to settle with Trump, it will stain the reputation of the company and undermine the First Amendment,” Darcy wrote, citing people familiar with the matter.

The revelation came on Monday, the same day it was reported that Paramount Global, CBS and Donald Trump requested a stay on all proceedings in their $20 billion legal battle until Thursday, as they are “engaged in good faith, advanced, settlement negotiations,” lawyers wrote in a motion filed with the Texas court.

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that a mediator proposed a $20 million settlement, which would include a $17 million donation to Trump’s presidential foundation or museum, as well as millions in legal fees and public service announcements on Paramount-owned networks to fight antisemitism.

Trump complained that Harris’ response to a question on whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was listening to the Biden administration was different in the final cut.

The president is suing the network for $20 billion, alleging that the Harris interview caused him “mental anguish” after being deceptively edited to make her look good. He also claims that its “false advertising and tampering” withheld viewers’ attention from him and his social media platform Truth Social.

CBS News has maintained that Trump’s accusations of deceitful editing are false, explaining that the promo shown on “Face the Nation” used a longer section of Harris’ answer.

Bezos Wedding’s Hollywood Dust-Up: Rosie O’Donnell Dings Oprah, Charlize Theron Says Guests ‘Suck’ and More

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding sure brought out the celebrities, both in attendance – and those criticizing the event.

Celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Brady, Sydney Sweeney and more attended the Venice-based wedding this past weekend. Their choice to show up to the lavish affair was ridiculed by other A-listers online. Many of them did not hold back how they felt.

“I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding, but that’s okay because they suck and we’re cool,” Charlize Theron said at the fifth annual block party for her charity – Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project – in L.A.

She continued: “Here in Los Angeles, in the U.S. and across the globe, we’re moving backwards fast. Immigration policy has destroyed the lives of families, not criminals; women’s rights are becoming less and less every day; queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased; and gender-based violence is on the rise. This isn’t just policy, it’s personal.”

She ended her speech succinctly with a “yeah, f–k them.” Rosie O’Donnell also took to her Instagram to eviscerate not only the wedding but Oprah specifically for attending.

“The Bezos’ wedding. It turned my stomach seeing all these billionaires gathering in the gross excess of it all. The show of it,” O’Donnell wrote. “Is Oprah friends with Jeff Bezos? Really? How is that possible? He treats his employees with disdain. By any metric he is not a nice man. And his fake fem bot wife who looks like that. Why would he choose her after the salt of the earth Mackenzie [Scott]? Sold his soul is what it looks like from here. The devil is smiling at all his conquests.”

Katie Couric went after Sánchez’s dress. The former CBS Evening News anchor left a comment critiquing the gown on a now-deleted Jack Schlossberg post, according to TMZ.

“Welcome to the eighties — when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled,” she wrote. “Apparently, tacky is back.”

Mia Farrow indirectly shaded the whole affair by hyping up Bezos’ ex-wife Scott. It was a bit kinder way to go after the wedding than others took.

“How awesome is MacKenzie Scott! (Jeff Bezos’s first wife & mother of his 4 children). As of mid-December 2024, she had given a total of $19.3 billion to over 1600 charitable organizations.”

The celebrities weren’t the only people calling out the reportedly $50 million wedding. The pair reportedly planned to get married in Cannaregio, in the center of the city. But mounting calls against their nuptials threatened to disrupt the wedding, which was moved elsewhere. The group said the wedding was moved to Arsenale, to the east of the original location.

Musk Says He Plans to Form ‘Alternative’ Political Party if Trump’s ‘Insane’ Budget Bill Passes

Elon Musk again shared his displeasure with the Trump-backed “Big Beautiful Bill,” saying he will form an “alternative” to the Republican and Democratic parties if the budget bill is approved by the Senate.

“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day,” the Tesla and SpaceX boss posted on X, his social media platform.

He added: “Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.”

If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day.

Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE.

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) June 30, 2025

Musk’s post came a few hours after he said the bill was stuffed with “insane spending” and would add “FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS” to the national debt. He said the bill proves Democrats and Republicans are really part of one party, “the PORKY PIG PARTY!!”

His comments are not a total shock to anyone who has been paying attention lately. Musk has been quiet about politics over the past few weeks, but earlier this month he got into a heated back-and-forth with President Trump over the bill, saying it was a “disgusting abomination.” Musk then posted in support of impeaching the president and claimed Trump did not release the Epstein Files because he was named in them — a claim Musk later deleted from X.

Musk’s criticism has stood out, considering he led the new Department of Government Efficiency for Trump from January through May; the president even gave Musk a gold key to the White House as a token of his appreciation for spearheading DOGE. Musk’s criticism also stands out because he was Trump’s most prominent backer during the 2024 election, spending $275 million to help him and other Republicans win their races.

Trump, rather than going full scorched earth in response to Musk lately, has taken a more placid approach.

“I think he’s a wonderful guy. I haven’t spoken to him much, but I think Elon is a wonderful guy, and I know he’s going to do well always,” Trump told Fox News on Sunday. “He’s a smart guy. And he actually went and campaigned with me and this and that. But he got a little bit upset, and that wasn’t appropriate.”

“Project Hail Mary” stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace. He’s joined by Sandra Hüller, Ken Leung, James Ortiz, Liz Kingsman, and “The Bear” breakout Lionel Boyce.

The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Why does the author sound familiar?

“Project Hail Mary” is based on the best-selling novel by Andy Weir. If that name sounds familiar it’s because he also wrote “The Martian.” That film was also adapted into an Oscar-nominated film starring Matt Damon and directed by Ridley Scott. And the filmmaker who wrote the screenplay for “The Martian,” Drew Goddard, also adapted “Project Hail Mary”

What’s up with the visuals?

Many have praised the cinematography of “Project Hail Mary,” which shouldn’t be a surprise given that Lord and Miller enlisted Oscar-winning “Dune,” “Dune: Part Two” and “The Batman” cinematographer Greig Fraser to shoot the movie.

That would be “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles off of his Grammy-winning album “Harry’s House.”

‘The Gilded Age’ Stars Tease Trouble Ahead for Bertha and George After Episode 2 Ambush

Note: This story contains spoilers from “The Gilded Age” Season 3, Episode 5.

“The Gilded Age” is putting its most beloved couple through the ringer in Season 3, as the ambitious spirits that drove them to one another start to test them when their priorities seem to no longer align as perfectly.

Of course we’re talking about power couple Bertha (Carrie Coon) and George Russell (Morgan Spector), who fans have fallen in love with across two seasons of watching them work together to climb through the ranks of New York society. In Season 3 their bond is tested, when Bertha’s plan to secure a marriage between their daughter Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) and Hector, the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb), conflicts with George’s prior promise that she’d get to choose her own love connection to marry.

Cracks begin to appear on the Russells’ united front in Episode 2, titled “What the Papers Say,” when George returns from the West to find his wife and kids at odds over Bertha’s moves — leaking information about Gladys’ potential engagement with the Duke to hinder her growing love for Billy Carlton (Matt Walker). Bertha and George have an initial argument, but Bertha manages to appease his fears. That goes out the door by the episode’s final moments when Hector arrives to the Russell home with a lawyer, ready to negotiate terms for the marriage, a surprise for George that felt like an ambush.

“The rift that develops between [Bertha and George] is not a minor one,” Spector said during a press conference for Season 3 ahead of the show’s release. “They see the situation of Gladys’ marriage in a very different way, so they’re pulling with all of their might in opposite directions. It’s hard.”

For Coon, the disconnect comes from George failing to understand the stakes for women to maintain their standing in that era. As Bertha and other characters have noted, Gladys’ marriage to Hector would solidify her as one of the most influential women in the world — “she wants her daughter to be safe,” she told The Wrap.

On the other hand, Spector explained part of George’s resistance comes from feeling like Bertha’s insistence on the union means Gladys won’t survive simply on his accomplishments and how far he’s elevated the family himself.

“In Bertha’s mind, everything she’s doing is for the love of her family, the ends justify the means,” Coon added. Her decisions nevertheless lead to some distance between Bertha and George as Season 3 unfolds. But fans will notice the actors’ chemistry remains intact.

“We were always striving to connect, even though the language was telling us otherwise, because we miss it too. It’s fun to play those scenes where they’re working things out or really into each other, so it was hard to play disconnection,” she added.

“The Gilded Age” airs Sundays on HBO and Max.

DOJ Task Force Seeks to Prevent ‘Violent Antisemitic Rhetoric’ at Bob Vylan U.S. Tour, Leo Terrell Says

The DOJ Task Force to Combat Antisemitism aims to determine what measures are available to “prevent the promotion of violent antisemitic rhetoric in the United States” after violent chants by punk duo Bob Vylan this weekend at the Glastonbury Festival, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Leo Terrell posted Sunday on X.

Bob Vylan singer Pascal Robinson-Foster on Saturday led the Glastonbury crowd in chants of “Death to the IDF,” “Free Palestine” and “From the river to the sea,” statements that were strongly condemned by festival organizers and Jewish advocacy groups Sunday.

Bob Vylan plans to visit the United States in the fall as part of the 24-city Inertia Tour, including stops in New York and Washington, D.C. Department of Justice Task Force to Combat Antisemitism chair Leo Terrell, a Trump appointee and former Fox News contributor, posted on Sunday that his department would contact the State Department on Monday to sort out what can be done to stop Robinson-Foster from spreading his message further.

“These abhorrent chants, which included calls for the death of members of the Israeli Defense Forces … have no place in any civil society,” Terrell wrote, tagging President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. “We understand that Mr. Vylan is planning to travel to the United States as part of the Inertia Tour. In response, Mr. Terrell’s Task Force will be reaching out to the U.S. Department of State on Monday to determine what measures are available to address the situation and to prevent the promotion of violent antisemitic rhetoric in the United States.”

The Daily Wire reported Sunday that the State Department is already looking to revoke Robinson-Foster’s visa, citing an anonymous senior State Department official. Messages sent to the Department of Justice and State Department were not immediately returned Sunday.

Robinson-Foster responded to the controversy Sunday on Instagram, saying it’s important to “encourage and inspire future generations to pick up the torch that was passed to us.”

“Let us display to them loudly and visibly the right thing to do when we want and need change,” he wrote. “Let them see us marching on the streets, campaigning on the ground level, organising online and shouting about it on any and every stage that we are offered.”
