BBC Cuts Live Feed to Irish Trio Kneecap at Glastonbury After Chants of: ‘F— Keir Starmer’
The BBC cut Irish trio Kneecap from the broadcaster’s live coverage of the Glastonbury music festival Saturday after the group began chanting “F–k Keir Starmer,” a reference to the British Prime Minister, during their set.
The news was shared by Puck News reporter Julia Alexander, who noted on X, “Fascinating media story. BBC cuts live stream, says VOD will be available (which of course allows for edits). Comes just a couple of days after the UK’s current culture minister suggested she didn’t want to see it, while noting she couldn’t exert control one way or another.”
As Alexander also noted, “That move then leads people to stream on TikTok, picking up hundreds of thousands of views (likely even more).”

The broadcaster also came under fire after musical act Bob Vylan led the crowd, many of whom were waving Palestinian flags, in chants of “death to the IDF,” the Telegraph reported. Bob Vylan performed directly ahead of Kneecap.
“We strongly condemn the threatening comments made by Bob Vylan at Glastonbury,” a spokesperson for Lisa Nandy, the culture secretary for the U.K., said. “The Culture Secretary has spoken to the BBC director-general to seek an urgent explanation about what due diligence it carried out ahead of the Bob Vylan performance, and welcomes the decision not to re-broadcast it on BBC iPlayer.”

The Guardian reported Kneecap kicked off the group’s set by chanting, “F–k Keir Starmer!” after Starmer said June 21 that allowing the band to perform at the festival was “not appropriate.”
In November, the group’s Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, who is also known as Mo Chara, was charged with a terror-related offense after holding a Hezbollah flag at a London show.
“We understand colonialism and we understand how important it is to support each other internationally,” Ó hAnnaidh, who was clad in a Palestinian keffiyeh, said. Of the more than 200 Palestinian flags being waved in the crowd, he added, “The BBC editor is going to have some job.”

Jeff Bezos-Lauren Sánchez Wedding in Photos: Celebrity Arrivals and Venice Protests
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez descended on Venice, Italy, this week, alongside with approximately 200 guests, as the billionaire and former journalist got married. The pair were met with “No Space for Bezos” protests, which succeeded in forcing the couple to move part of their celebration ahead of the main event Friday, June 27.
The pair reportedly planned to get married in Cannaregio, in the center of the city. But mounting calls against their nuptials threatened to disrupt the wedding, which was moved elsewhere. The group said the wedding was moved to Arsenale, to the east of the original location.
The protests began weeks before Bezos and Sánchez arrived. Organizers were calling for the wedding to be moved completely as residents of Venice struggle to deal with rising housing costs, in part due to the city’s perpetual attraction to tourists.

The celebrity guest list included Kris Jenner and boyfriend Corey Gamble, her daughters Khloe and Kim Kardashian, and Usher.

The actor was joined by “Grease” cast mates Barry Pearl, Michael Tucci, Kelly Ward and Didi Conn, as well as by director Randal Kleiser.
Travolta entered the event to loud cheers from the audience. “L.A., I thought you were going back to Australia? That’s cool, that’s cool, baby. You know, riding and rollin’ and whatnot,” he said, channeling Zuko.
The actor starred opposite the late Olivia Newton-John in the 1978 film. The pair reunited in 2019 at at the Meet n’ Grease sing-along event in Florida — and also dressed as their characters, which was Travolta’s idea.
“For whatever reason, like the bald head suits me, so does that ’50s get-up better than any other hairdo, so either I’m gonna go bald or wear a Danny ’50s hairdo. It suits my appearance,” he told People at the time.
“That movie is still loved … the excitement from the people, it was amazing. I couldn’t believe it, people still love it!” Newton-John also said.

8 Best New Movies Streaming Free on Tubi Right Now
Tubi might be a smaller streamer but it’s packing a mighty library with some fun, cinematic bangers, some nostalgic throwbacks and a musical film you can’t help but sing along with.
Yeah, you might have to watch some ads, but you can’t beat a completely free library. And these aren’t just titles from the VHS days, some of these flicks were in theaters not too long ago, or have become ultimate American classics.
Here’s are our curated picks for some of the best new movies streaming free on Tubi right now.

While “Blue Beetle” didn’t necessarily meet expectations at the box office, the film still remains a fun and exciting watch for the whole family, especially when you have acting and comedic legends like George Lopez and Susan Sarandon as part of the cast. In the film, Xolo Maridueña plays Jaime Reyes, a college student who finds an ancient relic of alien biotechnology called Scarab. What he doesn’t know is the tech has a mind of its own and chooses him to as its new host. A shock at first, Jaime is forced to take on his new identity and responsibility as superhero Blue Beetle.
“Phone Booth” (2003)
There was nothing more stressful than watching Colin Farrell’s character Stu Shepard figure out how he was going to escape a maniac sniper in “Phone Booth.” The thriller is centered on Stu, a snarky and not so trustworthy PR professional who finds himself locked and loaded into a anonymous and unseen gunman’s deadly game after he picks up a pay phone in the middle of New York City. He has only two options: convince the police to believe his story or be shot. It all comes down to how truthful he can be with his life literally on the line.
“Stomp the Yard” (2007)
This one is for all the folks who miss their college days and for the folks who joined sororities and fraternities, particularly historically Black organizations. The dance drama follows DJ Williams (Columbus Short) who enrolls into Truth University after enduring the death of his brother. When he arrives, he is welcomed by various social groups, including the campus frats. With two groups eyeing him for his dance moves, he’ll have to choose which of the two represent him the best, as they’ll have to face off in an upcoming dance competition.
“The NeverEnding Story” (1984)
All my ’80s babies and ’90s kids, this one’s for you. Truly, is there anything more fantastical and dreamy than “The NeverEnding Story”? Back in the day, when books weren’t replaced by tablets or social media, kids actually read. And that’s how Bastian (Barrett Oliver) found himself in the faraway, fantasy land of Fantasia, a world he reads about in a book after going to a library to escape a group of bullies. Fantasia’s only threat is a dark force called “The Nothing” that destroys everything it touches. When Bastian reads an excerpt from the book that describes him, he starts to wonder if he’s living in a real-life Fantasia.
“Moonlight” (2016)
The beloved and Oscar-winning film “Moonlight” from filmmaker from Barry Jenkins is a coming-of-age drama centered on a young Black man named Chiron. As his hometown of Miami and the adult figures in his life raise him, he goes on a journey of self-discovery.
“Taken (2008)”
“Taken” is one of those movies where when it’s on TV, you just have to watch it. Lucky for you, Tubi has the Liam Neeson action-thriller available with just one click. Neeson plays Bryan Mills in the film, a father and former spy who sets out on a mission to find and kill a gang of human traffickers that kidnapped his daughter while she was vacationing in Paris.
“Big Momma’s House” (2000)
There were a ton of hit films on Tubi’s list of June additions, and we had to take a moment to spotlight the hilarious, action-packed and always quotable “Big Momma’s House.” Truly one of Martin Lawrence’s most comedic performances, the actor-comedian plays an FBI agent named Malcolm Turner who is a master of disguise and goes undercover as a family’s southern grandmother to track down an escaped convict.
“Little Shop Of Horrors” (1986)
The cast, the music, the choreography and that hilarious talking plant is every bit of the reason why “Little Shop of Horrors” is on this list. It’s centered on a flower shop assistant named Seymore who’s set his eyes on his co-worker Audrey (Elle Greene). One day a total eclipse sends down a cute but dangerously carnivorous plant that only grows when it’s fed human flesh. While he’ll have to kill a few folks and keep the dark secrets of the plant — named Audrey II — hidden, the plant has boosted the shop’s traffic. But how many people will he murder before people become too suspicious?

Marjorie Taylor Greene, Tucker Carlson Praise Zohran Mamdani’s ‘Right Answer’ in NYC Mayor Debate | Video
Democratic nominee and frontrunner for New York City’s mayor Zohran Mamdani had two unlikely supporters – albeit fleetingly — in Tucker Carlson and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. The pair discussed the recently nominated leader on “The Tucker Carlson Show,” and each noted that one of Mamdani’s comments was “the right answer” to give.
While participating in a debate, Mamdani and other mayoral candidates were asked what foreign country they would visit as mayor. As Carlson pointed out, while his counterparts mostly answered Israel, a nod to New York’s largest Jewish population, Mamdani insisted he would remain in the city to take care of business.
“Well, he gave the right answer,” Greene said. Carlson agreed.
The duo were also quick to underscore that they do not personally align with Mamdani’s political views, but are impressed by his ability to connect with voters.
His top primary opponent, former mayor Andrew Cuomo, was “seen as the dirty establishment Democrat,” Greene said, which “really never solved anyone’s problems.”
Mamdani offered something new, she continued. “They’re still poor. They can’t afford life. They can afford to move up in the world. And so they looked at Andrew Cuomo and like, why am I going to vote for him? He’s not going to make my life better.”
“And so they look at this man who’s been in our country for what? Six years? Six years. So he’s foreign-born. He’s a socialist and he’s promising to empty the prisons and do all kinds of crazy things … he’s talking to them on their level and talking about the problems they are facing relating to them with the problems you’re facing. So these young people have no choice, but to turn to this,” Greene also said.
Mamdani was born in Uganda and lived in South Africa before immigrating to the United States with his family when he was seven years old.
If there is one conservative who has taken issue with Mamdani’s election, it’s Donald Trump.
“It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line,” he wrote on Truth Social Wednesday. “Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor. We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous.”

‘Squid Game’ Star Lee Byung-hun Says the End of Season 3 Feels Like ‘It’s Also a Beginning’
Note: This story contains spoilers from “Squid Game” Season 3, Episode 5.
From the first episode of “Squid Game,” series star Lee Byung-hun has been impressed by the originality of director Hwang Dong-hyuk’s thriller. But even though he’s knows to expect the unexpected, Lee was still shocked by the Netflix drama’s series finale.
“Usually when you read through a script, by the time you get to the last episode, you kind of know how it’s going to end. But when I read it in ‘Squid Game,’ I was shocked. I was surprised to read an ending that I think no one out there probably could expect or predict,” Lee told TheWrap. “I am personally happy with how it ended. On the other hand, I feel like it’s so nuanced that it almost feels like it’s also a beginning.”
What that potential beginning may be remains to be seen. Season 3 is officially the final season of Hwang’s globally beloved thriller. Lee admitted he’s joked with Hwang about making a Season 4. While that’s unlikely, the pair have more seriously talked about telling other stories in the “Squid Game” universe.
“In interviews, and also when it’s just us, he would talk about possibly telling these stories. He is quite open to stories about the Front Man, the recruiter and then the masked guards and how he thinks that those are stories are worth telling,” Lee said. “So like I said at [‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’], nothing is decided or concrete. But I think director Hwang is leaning more towards positive.”

When it comes to “Squid Game,” nearly every part of this Netflix original is tense and upsetting. But one of the most charged scenes in the entire series happens in Season 3 between Lee’s Front Man and Lee Jung-jae’s Gi-hun.
After Gi-hun reentered the Squid Game in Season 2, he quickly befriended Hwang In-ho, a man who was allegedly competing to win money to pay off his wife’s medical debt. The two became very close, with In-ho being accepted into Gi-hun’s inner circle. Gi-hun even trusts In-ho enough to tell him about his plan to overthrow the guards. When In-ho disappears in the midst of the fighting, Gi-hun assumes that he was just another player who was killed in the crossfire. But in Episode 5, In-ho reveals that he was the Front Man all along, the man leading the entire Squid Game who murdered Gi-hun’s best friend to teach him a lesson.
After brushing off Gi-hun’s rage, In-ho offers his former ally a new game when they reunite in Season, Episode 5. He gives Gi-hun a knife and tells him that if he murders all of the remaining players in their sleep, he and the baby can escape with their lives. Unbeknownst to Gi-hun, it’s the same challenge that was presented to In-ho when he competed in the Squid Game years ago.

“That action has a lot of different meanings. Firstly, because he sees himself reflected in Gi-hun, he has a certain attachment or affection for Gi-hun, and, in that sense, he wanted to give Gi-hun a chance. But even more importantly than that, he, as the Front Man, saw Gi-hun struggle to continue to hold onto his hope and his noble beliefs. I think there was this part of him that felt envy toward Gi-hun because he wasn’t able to do that, even though they went through the similar circumstances,” Lee explained. “I think a part of him wanted Gi-hun to continue to hold onto his beliefs so that [In-ho] might start to believe that there may be hope in the world again.
“It’s very layered. There are a lot of complex emotions in that scene, which is why, as an actor, I was really looking forward to shooting that scene. I had a lot of fun with it,” Lee added.
By competing in the games together and facing the same challenge, Lee sees the relationship between these two men as more intertwined and complicated than ever before. “I believe that Gi-hun influenced the Front Man, and the Front Man influenced Gi-hun too. What I wanted to portray through his character development was that I wanted Front Man to almost seem like something inside him sparked, maybe the last sliver of humanity that was somehow hidden deep inside him. Something about [Gi-hun’s refusal to kill] shook him up,” Lee said. “After the series is over, I wanted the audience to think maybe the Front Man will now live on with a new or different set of values.”
“Squid Game” is now streaming on Netflix.

‘F1’ Laps ‘M3GAN 2.0’ at Box Office With $58 Million Opening
Warner Bros./Apple’s “F1” is picking up speed with strong word-of-mouth this weekend, heading for a $58 million opening weekend from 3,661 theaters while Universal/Blumhouse’s “M3GAN 2.0” is earning less than half of its 2023 predecessor with an estimated opening of just $10 million.
“F1” was projected before the weekend for a domestic opening of around $50 million, though some exhibitors told TheWrap they were optimistic for a start closer to $60 million. Produced by Apple Original Films with Warner handling distribution and the two studios jointly marketing the film, “F1” carries a net budget of at least $200 million, but will be enjoying very strong overseas numbers thanks to the global appeal of Formula One, earning $39.5 million and counting through Friday.
“F1” is also enjoying very strong audience reception with Rotten Tomatoes scores of 83% critics and 97% audience along with an A on CinemaScore from opening night moviegoers thrilled by the film’s exciting race scenes shot during actual Formula One race weekends. That word-of-mouth should help “F1” hold strong against “Jurassic World: Rebirth” during Fourth of July weekend along with continued Imax support.
The outlook is far less rosy for “M3GAN 2.0,” which is currently at risk of opening fourth this weekend behind the third weekend of fellow Universal release “How to Train Your Dragon” and the second weekend of Disney/Pixar’s “Elio.” Its estimated $10 million start is just a third of the $30.4 million domestic opening of the first “M3GAN” in January 2023 and marks the eighth straight Blumhouse release to open to less than $12 million.
With a $25 million budget, “M3GAN 2.0” can still get out of the red, but it won’t be the big hit sequel Universal and Blumhouse were hoping for when it brought back what now stands as the latter’s last big original horror hit in theaters.
With a big pivot from horror to action comedy, many moviegoers aren’t coming back for more of the sassy killer doll, though the one positive spot is that audience reception is rather positive with a B+ on CinemaScore and an 84% RT audience score.

Gavin Newsom Shrugs Off Fox News Claim He’s Suing to ‘Chill Free Speech,’ Says On-Air Lies Are ‘Smoking Gun’ | Video
Gavin Newsom shrugged off Fox News calling his new lawsuit against them an effort to “chill free speech.”
While talking with podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen on Friday, Newsom was read Fox News’ response to his defamation lawsuit that called for $787 million in damages, a retraction and formal apology from Jesse Watters after saying the governor lied about a recent phone call with President Trump.
“Governor Newsom’s transparent publicity stunt is frivolous and designed to chill free speech critical of him,” Fox News’ statement read. “We will defend this case vigorously and look forward to it being dismissed.”

Cohen asked for Newsom’s response and the governor pointed out that “it’s almost verbatim what they said in the Dominion case.” He is suing for the same amount Dominion Voting Systems did in their lawsuit against the network.
“They knew they had lied in that original statement against Dominion,” he said. “They’re lying in this case. I mean, look at the chyron you just put up says, ‘Gavin Lied About Call [With] Trump.’ Period. Full Stop. I mean, I don’t know what more smoking gun you need.”
Newsom continued: “And so look, this organization, it needs to be held to account. I think what’s so frustrating, I think for all of us is they learned no lessons from that defamation case as it relates to Dominion. Nothing, they continue the practices that led to that record-breaking settlement.”
“That’s why this needed to be filed and that’s why we felt compelled to make this case and to assert ourselves. Look, if they want to apologize, they can apologize, and if they want to hide behind these lies, they’ll pay a price.”
According to the governor’s lawsuit obtained by TheWrap, he last spoke to the president on June 7 for about 16 minutes; the call came a day after President Trump sent 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles to counter protesters amid the anti-ICE demonstrations that happened in the city.
Later, on June 10, Trump said he spoke to Newsom “a day ago,” which Newsom pushed back against. Watters then asked on air, “Why would Newsom lie and claim Trump never called him?” while flashing a screenshot of Trump’s June 7 call with Newsom on the screen, which had been obtained by Fox News reporter John Roberts. That move, according to Newsom’s attorneys, fits the legal standard for defamation.
“If Fox News wants to lie to the American people on Donald Trump’s behalf, it should face consequences — just like it did in the Dominion case,” Newsom said in a statement to TheWrap when the lawsuit was filed. “I believe the American people should be able to trust the information they receive from a major news outlet. Until Fox is willing to be truthful, I will keep fighting against their propaganda machine.”
You can watch Newsom’s interview in the video above.

‘Squid Game’ Star Jo Yu-ri Unpacks Jun-hee’s Impossible Decision in Episode 4
Note: This story contains spoilers from “Squid Game” Season 3, Episode 4.
Once Jo Yu-ri learned what was going to happen in Season 3 of “Squid Game,” she felt that Jun-hee’s fate was “inevitable.” After giving birth in the middle of the hide-and-seek game, she knew that Jun-hee wouldn’t last long in the games. But that didn’t make her death any less emotional.
“Reading about her death was definitely shocking. I feel like it was an inevitable choice that came from her being backed into a corner,” Jo told TheWrap. “It was heartbreaking. That really motivated me to portray her as truthfully as possible.”
That dedication comes through in Jo’s portrayal of Jun-hee’s labor scene. The actor and former member of Iz*One noted that the birthing scene was “actually harder than I thought” and that she had doubts prior to filming it. To prepare for the scene, she asked several people for advice, including her co-star Kang Ae-sim, who plays Geum-ja.

“In the beginning, I was thinking what movements would portray the pain of childbirth. There was someone around me who had recently given birth, and she gave me really useful advice. She said when you’re actually in the thick of it, you’re almost in a trance. The only thing that you actually hear are the nurses yelling at you to push,” Jo said. “Ae-sim was the one who really helped me and supported me, and so thanks to her, I was really able to do a good job.”
Jo was also told that the pain of childbirth becomes so intense that some mothers actually want to rip something apart. “Imagining that I was clawing the walls, the stone walls, that was also a helpful physical sensation to hold onto,” Jo said.
Going into the jump rope game in Episode 4, Jun-hee is at a severe disadvantage. Not only is she still exhausted from having recently given birth, she has to hold onto her child while balancing on her one good leg. Even with Gi-hun’s (Lee Jung-jae) help, Jun-hee accepts she’s not going to make it past this game.
Her decision to give Gi-hun her baby isn’t a surprising one. After all, he’s one of the very few trustworthy players left in the game as well as a previous winner. It makes since she would leave her child with the man who represents his best chance at survival. What is surprising is that Jun-hee rejects arguably her only chance at surviving. As the timer ticks down, the father of her child, Myung-gi (Im Si-wan) approaches her and offers his help. Instead of attempting the deadly jump rope game with him, she pushes Myung-gi away, choosing instead to jump to her death.
Myung-gi’s murder of Jun-hee’s friend Hyun-ju (Park Sung-hoon) is a major reason why she no longer trusts him. But Jo thinks that Jun-hee’s distrust goes deeper than these last few episodes.
“He also partners with Nam-gyu [Roh Jae-won] to kill others, and that also comes across as very shocking for Jun-hee. That’s the point where she starts to see him as inhumane and not as a human being. That was one of the points where she decides she can’t fully rely on Myung-gi to take care of her child,” Jo explained.
“Squid Game” is now streaming on Netflix.
