Paramount Reaches $16 Million Settlement With Donald Trump in ‘60 Minutes’ Lawsuit
Paramount has reached an agreement in principle to settle Donald Trump’s lawsuit against “60 Minutes” for $16 million.
The settlement payment includes “plaintiffs’ fees and costs” as well as a donation that will be allocated to a “future presidential library.” Paramount also said that “in the future, 60 Minutes will release transcripts of interviews with eligible U.S. presidential candidates after such interviews have aired, subject to redactions as required for legal or national security concerns.”
Notably, the settlement does not include any statement of apology or regret from CBS or “60 Minutes”
According to Paramount, CBS’s parent company, the terms were proposed by the mediator in the litigation. Trump will not receive any money directly or indirectly and he will release all of his claims, including those of defamation.

Trump had sued CBS for $20 billion over an Oct. 7 “60 Minutes” interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris, which he claimed caused him “mental anguish” after being deceptively edited to make her look good.
He also alleged that its “false advertising and tampering” withheld viewers’ attention from him and his social media platform Truth Social, resulting in a decrease in value for Trump Media and Technology Group and his other media holdings, while also violating the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
The complaint specifically took aim at Harris’ response to a question on whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was listening to the Biden administration, which was different in the final cut that aired compared to an earlier promo on “Face the Nation.”
CBS News maintained that Trump’s accusations of deceitful editing were false, explaining that the promo shown on “Face the Nation” used a longer section of Harris’ answer. It also turned over the transcript and camera footage from the interview to the FCC as part of the agency’s investigation into allegations of “news distortion.”
In a recent court filing, CBS’ lawyers slammed the suit as “meritless” and said it was an attempt to “evade bedrock First Amendment principles.” They added that Trump had “not plausibly alleged that he personally suffered ‘an injury to a commercial interest in reputation or sales’” and that the Harris interview and promo were “fully protected editorial speech.”
The resolution of the high-stakes legal battle comes after the Wall Street Journal previously reported that Trump shot down Paramount’s offer to settle the lawsuit for $15 million. The president was initially aiming to get at least $25 million and an apology.
It also comes as Paramount is set to hold its annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday morning, where three new board members are set to stand election, among other proposals.
Additionally, the media giant is awaiting FCC approval of its pending $8 billion merger with David Ellison’s Skydance Media due to a required transfer of broadcast licenses, which executives have said would close in the first half of 2025.
Under the two-step deal, Skydance is set to acquire controlling shareholder Shari Redstone’s holding company National Amusements, which controls 77.4% of the Paramount Class A common stock outstanding and approximately 9.5% of the overall equity of the company, before merging with the Hollywood studio.
The deal’s first automatic 90-day extension, which was triggered in April, is set to expire next week. If the second extension is triggered, the closing deadline would be pushed to Oct. 6. Paramount and Skydance would then have the option of terminating the deal, which would not be subject to the agreement’s $400 million breakup fee.
Observers believe that the settlement was the final hurdle in order to get the merger across the finish line. Both Paramount and FCC chairman Brendan Carr have previously said that the lawsuit and settlement talks with Trump were unrelated to the agency’s review of the Skydance deal.
But Carr has also warned that “all options remain on the table” in the agency’s ongoing investigation into alleged “news distortion” related to the Harris interview, including potentially revoking CBS’ broadcast license if the network is found to have violated the agency’s public interest standard.
The FCC typically makes decisions within an informal 180-day timeframe, but there is nothing requiring them do so within that window.
As part of the review, the agency has received petitions from various parties who are asking for conditions to be placed on the merger’s closing, which Skydance and Paramount have asked the agency to reject. Some shareholders have also sued or threatened to sue Paramount and Skydance over the deal, alleging that it prioritizes Redstone over the rest of the company’s investors.
When asked by reporters last month whether he sees the agency’s review being resolved soon, Trump replied: “I hope so. Ellison’s great, he’ll do a great job with it.”
While Paramount and CBS no longer have to worry about Trump’s lawsuit, they’ve faced pressure from both insiders at the network and federal and California State Senate lawmakers not to settle. The group, along with legal experts, have all said that Trump’s lawsuit was frivolous and without merit.
Senators Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Ron Wyden and California Senate Democrats have all warned Redstone that a settlement in exchange for regulatory approval could constitute a violation of federal anti-bribery laws. While legal experts who previously spoke to TheWrap didn’t rule out legal action due to a settlement, they have dismissed the notion of bribery charges as a “non-case.”
The California lawmakers have already launched an investigation into the matter, inviting former “60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens and former CBS News president Wendy McMahon to testify. Owens and McMahon both resigned in part over their opposition to settling the lawsuit, as well as what Owens saw as corporate interference in the program’s editorial decision making.
In an interview with TheWrap at the premiere of the documentary “Children of October 7,” Redstone declined to publicly address the resignations or “60 Minutes” suit, but said there is “nothing controversial about telling the truth.”

“I think companies have not only an opportunity, but a tremendous responsibility, to use the resources that they have to tell these stories and to get them to as many audiences, let people decide how they feel about something and how they react to something, but give them the facts,” she added.
Asked how she balanced press freedom with the financial demands of media companies, Redstone said, “I don’t think there’s ever a time you have to compromise what it is that you say and do, but freedom of the press involves telling both sides of the story, giving the facts, not giving opinions. And I think that’s our responsibility as a media company.”
Paramount’s settlement comes after Disney previously paid $15 million to settle a defamation lawsuit Trump brought against ABC News and star anchor George Stephanopoulos. Meta also paid $25 million to settle Trump’s lawsuit about being kicked off Facebook and Instagram after the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Dwayne Johnson Gives Jelly Roll a ‘Hug 10 Years in the Making’ and a Special Gift: ‘I Feel Bad Even Taking This!’ | Video
Dwayne Johnson have been buddies – “texting, showing love, support, always there for each other” for nearly a decade – but they also just met.
The Rock on Tuesday posted a lengthy account on X about how he and the country singer struck up a friendship when the “Fast & Furious” actor, in a bad place mentally, heard one of Jellyroll’s songs that “rocked” him.
On Monday, Johnson dropped by Jelly Roll’s trailer at the “American Idol” set to meet in person for the first time. They shared “a brotherly hug almost 10 years in the making,” and the Rock brought along a gift that made the singer say: “I feel bad even taking this!”

“Several years ago (roughly 2017) I was going through a very hard thing at the time, I was struggling,” Johnson wrote. “Then a song came on through my headphones one morning on a random shuffle playlist. ‘Only’ from Jelly Roll. The lyrics rocked me. Hard core. The words moved me so much that I reached out to Jelly. I said you don’t know me and I don’t know you, but this song of yours is helping me through some stuff I’m dealing with. I just called to say thank you brother. Our bond was born.”
Johnson said the gift – which we won’t spoil for you here – “is insignificant to the world, but something I just knew would mean a lot to him and he’d appreciate.”
You can read all about it and watch their first meeting, including the gift exchange, in the X post with video below:

“Love you brother and cheers to all our plaques coming down,” Johnson concluded.

Bill O’Reilly Says if the ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Doesn’t Pass, It Will ‘Doom President Trump’: ‘Pressure Is Enormous’ | Video
Bill O’Reilly agrees that the “Big, Beautiful Bill” that passed the Senate on Tuesday isn’t perfect – but says if it doesn’t make it to the president’s desk, it will spark a deep recession and economic pullback that will doom the Trump administration and throw the midterms to Democrats.
Despite the dire prediction, “I do expect that the House will pass this,” the “No Spin News” host and former Fox News anchor said Monday. “Any Congress person who wants to run again on the GOP ticket — voting against the bill is done. … the pressure is enormous.”
The House of Representatives previously passed a version of the bill, but needs to vote again on the Senate’s amended version. Its fate is still somewhat uncertain, mostly due to ongoing opposition – not a single Democrat voted for it in either chamber – and need for unanimous Republican support.
“This is President Trump’s D-Day,” O’Reilly said. “As I’ve explained a number of times, and I’m sorry to be repetitive, but this is very, very important. It’s really not about the bill per se, because the bill is loaded with federal spending. That’s nonvital. It’s called pork and it’s there. And that’s why Elon Musk doesn’t like it. That’s why Ran Paul doesn’t like it. That’s been the case since World War II.”
O’Reilly called some of the bill’s provisions “ridiculous,” but added that its failure would mean a major tax increase for most Americans.
“If that happens, there will be a recession because consumers are strapped now,” O’Reilly said. “They can’t afford to pay any more taxes to the government — state, local, whatever it may be. Can’t. So there’ll be a severe pullback in our economy, which will doom President Trump.”
O’Reilly said Trump is “done” if that happens.

“He’ll lose the midterms — both houses,” O’Reilly said. “So now we’re — it’s not just a vote about pork and overloaded federal spending. It’s a vote about — you want to keep this president or not. Okay? In power.”
O’Reilly also scorched the mainstream media’s characterizations of the bill – calling them a “scandal” – in particular, reports that it would cut Medicaid payments, and includes tax cuts for the rich.
“It does not cut Medicaid payments,” O’Reilly said. “Doesn’t. But the media lies about it over and over and over so that not-smart people … think that Medicaid’s going to get cut and all these people are going to be thrown into the streets with no medical care. What the bill does … is it tightens up people’s eligibility. All you have to do to be eligible to get Medicaid is to search for a job or volunteer for a job for 20 hours a week.”
As for the tax cuts, O’Reilly said it merely carries on cuts that were passed in 2017, during the first Trump administration. The only new tax cut, he noted, is on tips – which Trump promised during the election.
“So, my son is a waiter this summer,” O’Reilly said. “He gets tips. On his income tax, he’ll be able to deduct, okay, a lot of that, and so he’ll keep the tips. Also, for senior citizens paying tax on Social Security — you’ll get a bigger deduction. Anything wrong with those two things?”

Keith Urban Abruptly Cuts Interview When Asked About Nicole Kidman Sex Scenes With Zac Efron
Keith Urban abruptly ended a radio interview when asked about wife Nicole Kidman shooting sex scenes with Zac Efron.
While being interviewed on Australian radio show “Hayley & Max in the Morning,” Urban participated in a segment called Wall of Truth and seemed game until host Max Burford asked about Kidman and Efron shooting a sex scene together in “A Family Affair.”
“The first thing I thought of with your beautiful wife, Nicole Kidman, being on so many great movies, TV shows all the time,” Burford said. “What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?”
The singer gave no response to the question, just abruptly ended the Zoom call with the radio hosts. The immediacy of it all took Burford and his co-host Hayley Peterson by surprise.
“He’s disconnected from Zoom,” someone on staff responds. “I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question.”

Burford assured the audience and Peterson that he had not been notified by Urban’s team that any questions or topics were off limits and adds that the guest had been smiling moments before the call dropped. Peterson admitted to being worried about this outcome.
“I know, but he doesn’t like the personal stuff,” she said. “Oh, I knew that would happen. We’ve upset him.”
Burford asked his co-host why she did not stop him from asking the question and Peterson said she didn’t “want to have a part of this because I don’t want to ask these questions.” She was worried that they were too personal and that Urban would leave the interview hating them.
That seemed to be the case as the two tried to get Urban’s publicist on the phone after the disconnect, but after failed attempts Peterson admitted the show was likely being “ghosted” by the singer.

Rob Mac Explains Name-Change From Rob McElhenney in Lighthearted X Post: ‘Is It Kinda Douchey? Sure’ | Video
Call him an actor, writer, producer, director, Welsh soccer-team owner and creator of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” – just don’t call him Rob McElhenney. It’s Rob Mac now.
Legally – and for good reason, Mac said Tuesday.
The artist formerly known as McElhenney posted on his X account (still labeled Rob McElhenney) a rapid-fire, one-minute explanation for the change of his surname, which he says was given to an ancestor by a government official, anyway.
“Hi. OK, I’m gonna dedicate exactly one minute to this. Start the clock,” Mac said to kick off the rapid-fire explainer. first reported the name changed this week based on legal documents filed in Los Angeles.
“Yes, I’m shortening my name to Rob Mac,” he continued. “Mostly a stage name, but I digress. Is it kinda douchey? Sure. But the amount of time that I have wasted trying to get people to either spell or say my name correctly [cut to lots of people getting it wrong], is literally days of my life. Trust me, I added it up.”
I said what I said. pic.twitter.com/lvwKgTBBrx
— Rob McElhenney (@RMcElhenney) July 1, 2025
“Still, it’s a family name, my grandparents, parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and I all share it, and I love them and I want to stay connected,” he added. “There’s heritage. Except, it’s not even really or f–king name. Not only have many generations changed its spelling, the current one was just given to my ancestor by a government official who decided that this was now the spelling.”
Mac was also the name of his “Sunny” character, so to be fair, there is heritage there, too. When he was still going by McElhenney, Mac also gained attention as a co-owner of Wrexham A.F.C., a Welsh football club, alongside Ryan Reynolds.
“But times have changed and most people already call me Rob Mac anyway,” he concluded. “My family knows me and loves me regardless of how many syllables I have, and that’s the only thing that I really care about … Honestly, call me whatever you want. Marion, Jerome, Archibald, Eric, Maurice, Stephanie, Frances, Marvin, Gordon or Sam. But maybe we just keep it simple and try Rob Mac. Let’s see how it goes.”

ESPN Promotes Andy Green to Vice President of Nontraditional Productions
ESPN has promoted Andy Green to the newly created role of vice president of non-traditional productions (NTP).
In his new role, Green will oversee the full scope of tens of thousands of live events on the sports network’s linear and digital platforms, as well as packager services and ESPN’s comprehensive school control room project.
He will continue to serve as the key liaison between the college sports production team and ESPN’s 26 conference partners, driving content execution strategy across more than 29,000 live events and nearly 300 school control rooms annually. His responsibilities will include operational planning, staff management, and strategic collaboration with stakeholders to enhance audience reach and create new revenue opportunities.
“Andy’s promotion is a recognition of his long-standing leadership in school and digital productions and his instrumental role in developing ESPN’s non-traditional production ecosystem,” production senior vice president Meg Aronowitz said in a statement. “Throughout Andy’s tenure at ESPN, he has always been someone who looks to innovate and enhance, and that will serve him and his team well as we continue to grow our NTP business.”

In his more than two decade tenure with ESPN, Green has held a variety of roles, including associate producer, graphics manager and producer for high-profile properties such as MLB, NBA Draft and college basketball. After briefly leaving the company to serve as a producer at WWE from 2012 to 2013, he returned to ESPN in 2014, where he’s been based in the Charlotte office.
Following his return, Green played a central role in the early years of SEC Network. He was named senior managing producer in 2017 and led the SEC school control room project, later adding oversight of the ACC school control room project in 2019. He was subsequently promoted to coordinating producer in 2022.
“Stepping into this role is an honor that resonates deeply,” Green said. “Having been part of this journey from the very beginning, I’m proud to now lead the mission that first inspired us. I’m committed to pushing boundaries, strengthening conference relationships, and guiding a team that carries forward the vision and purpose at the core of Non-Traditional Productions.”
Green’s promotion comes as ESPN is preparing to launch its direct-to-consumer streaming service this fall, which will package the sports network’s programming with fantasy sports integrations, enhanced statistics, betting features and e-commerce.
ESPN’s Unlimited plan will provide access to 47,000 live events, studio shows and more. It will be available for $29.99 per month/$299.99 per year standalone, $35.99 in a bundle with ads on Disney+ and Hulu and $44.99 per month with no ads on Disney+ and Hulu. At launch, the bundle will cost $29.99 for the first 12 months.
Meanwhile, ESPN’s Select plan, which includes all the content currently available on ESPN+, will be $11.99 per month/$119.99 per year. It will cost $16.99 per month with ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu and $26.99 per month with ad-free Disney+ and Hulu.
Existing ESPN+ subscribers will automatically become subscribers to ESPN’s new service, based on their current subscription level. Standalone ESPN+ subscribers get the ESPN select plan, and Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle subscribers get the ESPN select bundle. The offering will will also be available to ESPN linear’s existing pay TV subscribers.
In addition to the ESPN streaming service, the sports network’s content is also available on streaming via the cheaper, standalone ESPN+ service for $11.99 per month, which the company will continue to market and sell in part due to contractual rights commitments with several leagues, both domestically and internationally. ESPN is also available as a tile in Disney+ for bundle subscribers.

Seth Meyers Reveals the Interview Tactic He Picked Up From Howard Stern: ‘He Does This Fake-Out’ | Video
Seth Meyers revealed a key trick Howard Stern uses to get his guests to open up following a recent appearance on the radio hosts “The Howard Stern Show.”
Seth spoke about his interview experience with his brother Josh Meyers on their podcast, “Family Trips With the Meyers Brothers.” At the top of the episode, Seth noted that Stern started “wrapping up” their interview before carrying on with more questions.

“You go, ‘Oh, it’s over, I feel like that went really well,'” Seth said. “Then he asks you like a half an hour more questions.”
“Do you think they’re recording those?” Josh laughed.
“No, they are!” Seth exclaimed. “He does this fake-out.”
You can listen to the conversation — and Seth’s self-described “terrible” Stern impression — in the video below.
Seth and Josh started their comedy podcast in 2023, with the brothers interviewing a new celebrity every week. In this episode, they talk to Alexander Skarsgård — another famous show biz brother currently starring in the Apple TV+ comedy “Murderbot.”
Before bringing Skarsgård on, the brothers reminisced over their father’s love for Stern. With this in mind, Seth appreciated having been on with Stern more than once.
“It’s very fun because dad, more than us because he was a commuter, dad used to listen to Howard Stern all the time, and I feel like he would come home and he would tell us how funny Howard Stern was,” Seth said. “It’s a very nice circle of life thing to be doing ‘The Howard Stern Show.'”
The brothers praised Stern’s wily interview tactic, effectively catching guests off guard and opening them up to a renewed line of questions with more candor.
It’s a trick Seth told his own future guests to watch out for.
“If any of our future guests are listening, we’re going to start using this lull move,” Seth joked.

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Taps 2 ‘Mormon Wives’ Stars for Season 34
From MomTok to the ballroom, not one but two “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” cast members will join the ranks of “Dancing With the Stars” Season 34.
Nick Viall revealed the news in the Hulu series’ first reunion special, which aired Monday night on Hulu, announcing which cast members would have the chance to shine on their own in sparkly costumes and heels.
“So I heard most of you auditioned recently while filming Season 3,” the former reality star turned podcaster said to the cast at the reunion. “I gotta know who wants it the most.”
Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt quickly raised their hands. Before officially revealing who made it on the established competition show, he asked the cast who they thought deserved it the most. Affleck raised her hand, and Taylor Frankie Paul agreed.
“I think Jen just because it’s been her life dream since she was little,” the reality star said of the soon-to-be the mom of three, who was in her third trimester while shooting the reunion special.
Viall had a surprise up his sleeve because both Affleck and Leavitt were asked to join the upcoming ballroom dancing series. The two women exclaimed and hugged each other and their spouses.
Affleck and Leavitt will join previously announced contestants Australian conservationist and TV personality Robert Irwin and influencer Alix Earle for Season 34. The four early cast announcements all have a presence online, indicating a new trend for the series. “Dancing With the Stars” has seen increasing interest in the show on social media and ranked No. 1 this past fall among young Adults 18-49 in live and same day viewing.
So far no professional dancers partners have been confirmed for the series. Additionally, a premiere date for Season 34 has yet to be revealed, but traditionally new seasons debut in September.
“Dancing With the Stars” is produced in front of a live audience by BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions. The series will air on ABC and Disney+ and stream next day on Hulu.

Greg Gutfeld Needs 13 Rapid-Fire Jokes to Recap Trump’s Very Busy Week: ‘Have to Take a Deep Breath’ | Video
Looks like Greg Gutfeld picked the wrong week to take a vacation from his late-night show on Fox News: Returning from a week off with a plausible tan, the “Gutfeld” host racked up no less than 13 rapid-fire jokes just to recap President Trump’s very busy final week of June 2025.
“Well what a great week I had, gotta tell ya – I had some sun, exercise, relaxation. And I even did some whale watching,” he said, eliciting groans with a quick-cut to a picture of “The View.” “They had a TV in the room!”
But whatever rest Gutfeld got during the break was canceled out by the breathless Trump news cycle he had missed: “My past seven days is nothing compared to the week that Trump had. I have to take a deep breath just to go through it – so here it goes.”

Watch the bonanza of Gutfeld’s trademark tasteless wisecracks in the video above – or read them for yourself below:
First, he had the Iran strike, where Iran just had their nuclear prospects sent back to the Stone Age — or, in their case, blasted forward into the Stone Age.And while the mullahs claimed it was no big deal, dry cleaners in Tehran reported receiving truckloads of soiled robes. Then, there’s the cease-fire, where Trump acted as a coach separating two players still fighting after the whistle blew. Then, they got NATO to promise 5% of GDP on defense. No one’s done that before. Maybe we can get him to bring up Jesse [Watters’] behavior when the check comes after dinner. Cheap bastard.Of course, there’s the vanishing border crossings and gotaways. While Trump’s approval among Hispanics explodes — now as popular among Latinos as family, religion, and the weather girl on Telemundo. But I guess the Democrats calling him “Taco Trump” kind of backfired. The stock market roared back, despite idiots like Jim Cramer, claiming tariffs would usher in the apocalypse. The only thing ushering in the apocalypse is Jim Cramer.Meanwhile, new data suggests Kamala Harris’ trouncing in 2024 could have been worse if more people had voted. If the Democrats worked harder to get out the vote, they would have gotten fewer votes. Turns out their biggest enemies are their own policies, candidates, and the party. They are like a cat who is allergic to cats!On top of that, the Supreme Court got rid of the nationwide injunctions, the legal system’s version of cockblocking used to stymie Trump’s agenda. They ruled the libs are less effective than Lionel Hutz [the incompetent and unethical attorney from “The Simpsons,” voiced by Phil Hartman].Critics claim the economy would have been fine without this trade war, but that’s like saying Dolly Parton would have been just as famous without the huge cans.Without the tariffs, we wouldn’t have the extra billions coming in, which the critics leave out of their arguments. It’s half an opinion — like celebrating your weight loss but failing to mention the tapeworm. When you praise Trump for being this good, they’ll accuse you of idol worship, as if they didn’t act like Barack Obama [bleep] orange sherbet. To them, it doesn’t matter they are losing; what matters is you back the guy who has won over and over. It is beyond predictable. It’s like a birthday party magic show — you see the tricks coming. How many magic acts have you seen in your life? Not counting Jesse [Watters] being handed his own show. The post Greg Gutfeld Needs 13 Rapid-Fire Jokes to Recap Trump’s Very Busy Week: ‘Have to Take a Deep Breath’ | Video appeared first on TheWrap.
