My first post on my new blog.
I have a lot going on in my life at the moment. A journey to Scotland to give a talk at a book festival. This is the first time I’ve given a talk at a book festival, but I don’t expect it to be any different from giving a talk to a local writing group.
When I gave a talk at Brentwood Writing Group I’m busy working on a painting of Sir Ted a well loved member of the Green family. Sir Ted isn’t finished yet, but I’m very pleased with him so far.

I started drawing as a child in my junior school. I loved the fact you could take a flat surface and make it three dimensional. I enjoy learning about artists’ lives and the stories behind their works. At sixteen I failed to get into the local art college because I was unable to past the entrance exam. Gutted, I worked in low paying jobs. Soon life got in the way. Married, divorced and then raising a young son I put my art on hold. Mortgage, loans and household bills meant I had to focus on living instead of dreaming.
Now here I am sitting in my art studio writing this post and working on my tenth painting with six books published and over hundred short stories in print. It has been a long journey but I’m hoping you will join me for next part of it.
Welcome to my world.

Amazing!
Isn’t it funny how people want to subscribe to a blog which will by the end of the week will disappear into the void. This shows they haven’t read yesterday’s post
I’m still puzzled by why a dog breeder wants to follow this blog
No matter how many times I delete him he comes back calling himself something else. Odd that.
Funny if he read the blog he would know how pointless it would be to join especially now

It’s time to say goodbye.
Due to a lack of time, I have come to the decision to bring this blog to an end. As I’m not regularly updating this blog I feel it is better to finish on a high. Thank you so much for following me on my journey to becoming a published author. I have enjoyed your company.
You will still be able to find me on the net, on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram also on the new Threads. Of course, you can find my books on Amazon and Goodreads.
In the future I might find the time to start a new blog, but at the moment I’m closing this one down.
Thank you, Much Peace and happiness to you.

My Blog: Authors & Readers only.
Okay, this might seem like an odd post. Maybe it’s me, but could the two dog breeders explain why they need to follow my blog.
When I set up this blog it was to share my journey to become a published author. I expected I might be lucky to have a few newbie writers to follow my blog, be interested in my journey. After having my books published I hoped some of my readers might started following as well.
The blogs I follow and comment on are ones I’m interested in, and take the time to read whenever time allows me. The key here is I’m interested in because they are readers or writing blogs or blogs linked to my other interests.
These days it seems your blogs are followed by most people offering you digital information or services linked to the internet, marketing or promoting, if you are an author.
But dog breeders are a new thing. To start with what is it about my blog that makes a breeder of bulldogs want to be a follow it?
Is there something I’m missing?
And then there’s another dog breeders who seems to have a wide series of names, and he is desperate to follow this blog, too. Has he read all my books and can’t wait for the next Granny Wenlock novel to arrive hot off the press?
Dream on Paula, you know that’s not the reason. These followers aren’t interested in reading your posts. There are some other forces at work here. Maybe they can explain and enlighten me.

So Pleased
What a wonderful surprise this morning to find Never Reaching the End has leapt up the Amazon Chart. Okay, so by the end of the day it might have tumbled back down again but I shall enjoy to moment knowing some lovely reader has bought my novella.
Short reads are finding a place in people’s hearts, which as a writer is a wonderful thing for two reasons. Writing a full-length novel is a time consuming process. Once it is written, then the rounds of editing start. It can become disheartening at times, to the point where you can doubt your ability to write and whether the story is worth all your blood, sweat and tears.
Novella can be just as time consuming as you still have as many stages in its creation, but the writing stage isn’t as long. I enjoy the process of creating Never Reading the End, and always hoped I could rewrite the tale of a haunted house.
Now I need to come up with a new dark tale for my next novella. Better get my thinking cap on
