Why You Need A Writing Notebook and What to Put Inside It

Hello everyone! Here’s a question for all you writers. Do you have a writing notebook? For those who don’t know what this is, it’s basically a writer’s diary. It’s a journal that holds just about whatever information a writer needs.
To get started, what do you put inside your writing notebook? First of all, here’s a tip. Use a separate notebook for each project. If you have multiple projects going on, it’s useful to use different notebooks for each project to help keep your things organized.
Here’s a list of the type of things I keep in my writing notebooks:

Story ideasCharacter names and their meaningsStory outlinesCharacter profilesBook cover ideasDrawings or layouts that pertain to your storyNotes from meetings (like with your editor)Any notes you want/need that go to your storyStory timelinesResearch

Having one place to keep all my ideas and notes helps me stay organized and know where everything is. This is why all writers should have a writing notebook, even if your notebook ends up being an online file or document. And for those of you who like to write by hand, a writing notebook is the perfect place to keep all your things. And having separate notebooks for each project is even better.

Having a specific place to keep all your writing information is important and extremely helpful

My Experience with ASL Since Entering the Interpreting Program.

Hey everyone! So, I have great news! I have been working very hard and have been accepted into the American Sign Language Interpretation Preparation Program! It has been my goal to enter this program since I started learning ASL.
So, today I’m going to share a little bit about my experience learning ASL.
I started teaching myself Sign Language when I was in eighth grade. But my interest in Sign Language began long before that. When I began high school, I started taking ASL classes at the local college and have continued that ever since.
I don’t remember what got me interested in ASL when I first started learning, but I know what kept me going. The language is beautiful, and I instantly fell in love with it, along with the culture and Deaf community.
Since I started learning ASL, I knew I wanted to be an interpreter. It’s a critical job in the Deaf community. It’s a job I feel honored to be learning about in the hopes of becoming an interpreter myself.
Sign Language is a beautiful language, and the Deaf community is wonderful! I’m thrilled to have been accepted into this program and wanted to share this with all of you! I highly encourage everyone to think about learning ASL. You won’t regret it.

Maximum Ride Series Book Review

“The funny thing about facing imminent death is that it snaps everything into perspective.”

-Maximum Ride The Angel Experiment, James Patterson

Hello my fellow humans! Hope you are all doing well! Today we will be talking about Maximum Ride and her family! Welcome to the Maximum Ride universe!

Maximum Ride is the name of a nine-book series that follows Maximum Ride (Max), and her winged family of orphans. Max and the flock are human-avian hybrids, kids with wings and other abilities. They are on the run from those who created them.

Maximum Ride was written by world’s bestselling author, James Patterson. (One of my favorite authors.)

Category: YA (Young Adult)

The Angel Experiment is the first in the series. Max must protect her gang and rescue one of her own, Angel, from the people who created them, all the while being hunted themselves. The adventure continues as they head out to find information about their parents. Oh, and don’t forget. Max has the fate of the world hanging on her shoulders.

The Maximum Ride series is one of my favorites. With short chapters, fast, quirky writing, you can’t put the books down. The story is fast passed and suspenseful. It’s easy to read, and has a very elaborate and extremely layered plot.

The characters are very interesting in this series. The characters have unique names such as Maximum, Iggy, and Fang, to name a few. It’s easy to relate to Max right in the beginning, even though her life is much harder than many of ours probably are. The relationships between the characters are very fun to get caught up in. The character development is amazing.

These books, although read by many younger readers, is definitely geared towards teenagers. There is some language in the books that I don’t suggest for younger kids. The plot isn’t necessarily for a younger audience, especially as the books progress. As much as I love this series, I recommend it only to an older audience.

So, if you’re looking for a story with awesome characters, danger lurking on every page, check out Maximum Ride.

Is Writer’s Block Real?

Hey everyone! So, lots have been happening during quarantine. I’ve got multiple writing projects going on, and some exciting school things coming up, but today we’re going to tackle writer’s block!

There is a lot of controversy in the writing community on whether or not writer’s block is real. Some say it is, others think it’s a bunch of bologna. First of all, what is writer’s block? Most people describe writer’s block as being stuck in the writing process, the inability to write or work on a writing project.

Now, call me crazy, but I don’t believe writer’s block exists. At least, not in the way people normally think it does.

There are plenty of times when I get stuck on a project. I can’t figure out how to fix my plot holes, or don’t feel motivated enough to write. I definitely get stuck. But I can always write!

Writer’s block is what people call it when they feel like they can’t write. You may feel like you can’t, but you always can. Your writing might suck, it might be awful, but it’s better to get out the bad writing than wait until you feel like you aren’t stuck. Plot holes don’t fix themselves. Ideas don’t come out of nowhere. You can’t get unstuck without writing.

If you think writer’s block is real and insist on that being so, I encourage you to at least try and change your view of it. Once you believe writer’s block is real, it’s will effect your way of thinking and your writing. Think of it more like this: “writer feels stuck”, not “writer can’t write.” You can always write. And it’s better to write something worth throwing away than not writing at all. That’s how you get better.

So no, I don’t believe writer’s block is real. A person can always write. Don’t let yourself get caught up in the “I have writer’s block, I can’t do anything” attitude. If you let yourself think like that, it will be harder to unthink it. And your writing can suffer more from it. Just keep writing. As Jessica Brody says, “Don’t be afraid to write crap because crap makes great fertilizer.”

Edenbrooke Book Review

“How could you not know that there is nothing in the world I want as much as I want you?”

Edenbrooke, Julianne Donaldson

Edenbrooke was written by Julianne Donaldson in 2012. Genre: romance. Proper romance.

This book was introduced to me by my best friend, and I’m so glad it was! This book has officially made it to my favorites list. Now, bare with me for this one. This book is a type of story you can’t exactly describe in a review. You have to read it to really understand how touching the story is.

The story takes place in 1816 Bath, England. The main character is Miss Marianne Daventry. In the beginning of the story, she is invited by her sister to stay at the Edenbrooke estate for the summer with her sister’s friends. And her grandmother is expecting to her learn to be a proper lady by the end of the summer. And Miss Marianne thinks she’s anything but! But her journey there goes off rails right at the beginning. And there’s more happening at Edenbrooke, and in her own heart, than she expected!

The characters are all so unique, each created with their own secrets! The creativity behind each person is magnificent!

This story is definitely for those who like a good laugh. The relationship between the two characters is crafted in such a way you can never stop laughing and smiling at what goes on between them! You can’t help but fall in love with them yourself.

The story is written in such a fashion that you see the attitude and writing style from the 1800s, yet it’s easy to read. It’s light and airy with a style that is still easy to understand and very easy to enjoy.

I can’t think of anything I don’t like about this book. It’s clean, easy to read, suspenseful, and funny.

Overall, I give this book a 5 star rating!

You can check it out on amazon here.
