God’s Grace

[image error]For years I searched my little brain for the one quick prayer I wanted to recite each morning when I awoke.  I knew I didnt want it to be long but something I could quickly say that would put my mind, right away, on the one who blessed me to live another day.  I tried more than a few but none seemed to fit well.  A few months ago my mind settled on, Gods grace is sufficient.  Simple, yet the perfect way to remind me immediately that no matter what I am faced with during the day, Gods blessing...

Be You…

[image error]A few days ago I was asked to speak at an awards event later this month. When I got the invitation I was super excited because I really want to get into public speaking more and this event is the perfect opportunity for me. When I shared this good news with a close friend of mine their response was, “you don’t know anything about speaking in front of people.” I have known this person for a long time and they always have the most negative things to say so I should have known better. I was...

Get It In

Death is permanent. A coworker said those words to me recently as we discussed life, goals and dreams. “Time waits for no one,” she said. No truer words have ever been spoken. As teenagers we often think we have all the time in the world to do the things we want, make mistakes, pursue our dreams or go back to our goals later. Unfortunately, time does not wait for us. We don’t know where we are in the line for our check out of this life so living everyday like it’s our last is a good decision....

Adding Value

My morning drive has changed a bit. Before the summer of 2019, the only person I had to worry about getting up in the morning was myself. The other folks in the house were old enough to see after themselves. I got myself ready, packed my lunch and was out the door most days by 6:20am. On my ride to work, I listened to one of the many motivational speakers or ministers I enjoy. The drive was usually smooth. I arrived at work with plenty of time to spare before I started my morning duty.

Since...

Drive Safe

Whenever I have to leave my grandson at daycare, home or with a sitter, he always walks me to the door, gives me several hugs and kisses then tells me to drive safe. At four years old, I am certain he doesn’t understand where I’m going or how long I will be gone. I’m not even sure he fully understands what ‘drive safe’ means but somewhere along the way he picked it up and without fail says it to me every time I have to go[image error] somewhere without him. Also, it’s not just me, he says it to others...

Note to Self

When I started this post, I didn’t have a title for it. Usually, titles help me to focus my writing and that helps me to give a great post. However, with this post, things are a bit different. Today, I just felt an urge to write and here I am, no title…just writing.

The year 2020 began a bit rough for me. It seems that I have many challenges all going on at once. I’m not sure which to tackle first but then I thought, why even worry about it? I heard that challenges are God’s way of turning...

Marriage…Maybe?

As we all know, the internet is full of interesting facts, fiction and opinions. There is an abundance of information to be found on the World Wide Web and a few days ago as I scrolled through the internet reading various news and entertainment articles, I came across an article titled, “Don’t Let Your Boyfriend Keep You From Your Husband.” Whoever titled this article was definitely a click bait expert. So many thoughts ran through my mind as I clicked and began reading the article.

The...

A Different Kind of Holiday

No matter the occasion, my mother loved to cook and feed people. That was her

thing. Our family was always getting together for some reason or another and during those times, food was the main staple. However, when the end of November neared, my mother would begin planning her meal. She’d begin cooking late Tuesday evening and wouldn’t stop until early Thanksgiving day. She was certain to cook all of my favorite foods as well as those of my siblings. On Thanksgiving Day, Mom would...

Just for Me…

Going through some old photos recently, I came across some pictures of me in high school. I remember the day one photo in particular was taken. I remembered wearing the white skirt and matching jacket with the pink mock turtleneck. I topped off the outfit with a low white heel shoe. My friends and I were standing next to an arched doorway decorated in black and burgundy for the upcoming school dance. In high school, I was 118 pounds and a size 6! I have loved that photo since the moment I had...

Women on the Rise

Growing up, most of the people I hung out with were guys.  It wasn’t that I was boy crazy.  I just felt that guys were easier to get along with.  I didn’t have to have conversations about who liked who, what I was going to wear to a party or what shade of lipstick I’d wear to the mall.  With the guys, life was simple.  When it was time to go, we went.  When we got hungry, we ate pizza and when one of us go it trouble, we could always on each other for an alibi.

I always felt comfortable and I alway...
