Experiencing Life Through T-Mobile

Not long after I graduated high school my parents, who had been divorced for about five years, decided to remarry.  My father, born and raised in Florida, wanted to move back home and prepare for retirement.  When I followed my parents to Florida, it was probably the best decision I could have made.  I am so very grateful that my son was able to grow up with his grandparents.

When I moved to Florida I was about twenty years old.  Considered an adult by most standards, to my parents, I was still ...

My Life with Bats

Photo by Gotta Be Worth It on Pexels.com

Just last week, we celebrated three years in our home.  Achieving this accomplishment was something we’d dreamed about, talked about, prayed about and hoped for, for years.  It took us a year to find the perfect home.  From the first moment we walked in we just knew this was our dream home.  This is where we would live out the rest of our lives!

We’ve had some minor issues along the way.  We had a leak in the wall in our bathroom, a leak in the garage fro...

Looking Forward

The past couple of weeks have been really hard on me as I deal with some not so pleasant circumstances happening in my personal life.  As I struggle to come to terms with my new normal, I also try to find ways to understand myself better.  I want to grow from any situation or circumstance in an effort to make better decisions should I find myself in the same or similar situation again.  As I read and prayed about my situation, one word came to me; integrity.

…Love Always, Dad

Photo by Rakicevic Nenad on Pexels.com

As Father’s Day draws near, I am thinking about my father. There are not too many days that go by that I don’t think of him. There are so many days when I wish I could drive to my parents’ house to hang out, sit on my dad’s lap and eat until my little heart is content.  Unfortunately, for the past eleven years all I could do was wish for those days again.  Both of my parents have passed away and it really is a sadness that you just learn to live with becau...

Sticks and Stones

Photo by Isaque Pereira on Pexels.com

I am most certain we all remember the words to the sticks and stones idiom from our childhood. I have no idea exactly where it came from, however after some research I found that it was referenced in a writing piece as early as 1892.  Considered a Proverb now as people have been saying it in various forms throughout centuries.

It is a catchy little phrase that most of us learned to say during schoolyard bullying to imply to our bully that while sticks and ...

Inquiring Minds

So I am continuing to make my way through 1 Samuel during my daily quiet times.  I am now in Chapter 23.  Throughout the last week I have been reading about how Saul was chasing David down like a rabid dog.  Saul, uncontrollably furious, at the very existence of David.  Saul wanted David dead and that was all there was to it.  Saul also wanted to be the one to take David out.  By now, David is on the run.  His best friend, Jonathan, Sauls son, had told...

A Virtual Event

Picking up the very first copies of my book from my publisher.

I have always been an avid reader.  Growing up, reading was my escape.  When I didnt want to deal with all of the changes and craziness going on in my life, I would pour myself into a book.  No matter where I went, there was most likely a book in the backpack or bag I was carrying.  I absolutely love reading and at the same token, I feel the same about writing.  If I could find a way to spend my days reading and writing and get...

Why Me?

Not long after I graduated high school, many, many moons ago, I met this guy who turned out to be a real piece of work.  The first few months were great, of course.  We spent a lot of time together going to movies and on dates to nice restaurants.  Back then, Sizzler, was considered a nice restaurant and it was our favorite place to hang out.  The guy was real nice, said all of the right things, made my friends laugh and was the perfect gentleman.  He...

Changing Course

As an avid reader, I am always looking for new and excitng things to read especially if I can learn something from what Im reading.  A few months ago I discovered a company called Alabaster.  They make these really cool books of the bible with beautiful pictures to add vision to the books.  I purchased one, fell in love and purchased a few more.  Included in one of my purchases were a couple of books from the bible that the company refers to as manuscript bibles.  In these particular books of...
