The Dumbing Down of Barnes & Nobles

For years, I've really enjoyed spending time in B&N. I used to go a couple of times a week. One reason was that they had an excellent kid's section. They had new books, but also shelved of older good books..nearly all my favorite kids books were there.

Not anymore!…

Now, in kids and YA, they have new books and popular series–face out, and that's it. There are no shelves of older staple books to go browse.

SF is still the way it was, but for how much longer?

How sad!

The Estemed Mr. Brannon is Right!

I have completely neglected to mention that I will be appearing and signing books at:

The Baltimore Book Festival — this Friday and Saturday, September 27th to 28th.

I will be there with Dark Quest Books and my new novel, The Unexpected Enlightenment of Rachel Griffin.

Capclave — October 12-13th (in Gaithersburg, Maryland.)

We will be launching The Unexpected Enlightenment of Rachel Griffin at 10pm, Saturday night at Capclave. I will not be there before this (I have to drive down from New York.) But I do plan to be there Sunday.

Brought to us by the Multi-Talented Ms. Gina Sharp!

Here, a special treat today, a fan-drawn picture of Miranda!!!

But Ms. Sharp does not merely draw! No! She also writes music. Here is a link to a song she wrote for Menelaus Montrose, the Future Texan hero of John's Count To A Trillion series.

And last week’s winner was:

Some really good ones this week! Hard to choose. In this particular case, the winner goes to the person who correctly identified who the baby was cosplaying.

Even Pai Mei was young once. Sort of.

Though we also loved:

Thou shalt not pass!
