The book is made up of his experiences reporting the cocaine wars in Colombia, where he lived for 15 years. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The Guardian, the BBC, CNN, Vice and others. Toby Muse is starting Nightfall: Not top notch Goodis. It feels like an early entry, a regular crime pulp, there is a sense of doom, but it’s forced rather than lived in like the later novels. He escapes and gets the girl! That is not a Goodis book. His best work is with the born losers, the bums, the drunks who for a moment forget they’re damned before the world reminds them.
