(1) Chaos Theory + Interconnectivity

(1) Chaos Theory + Interconnectivity

Every action that we take ripples through time. We all matter, very much more than we think we do.

Technology has amplified the effects of the Butterfly Effect, giving everyone the ability to change many lives more quickly than before.

(2) Personal Responsibility

At the same time technological interconnectivity has amplified the Butterfly Effect, people are more nihilistic than we were. We don't think we matter, and we don't recognize the effects we have on others.

We send messages off into the net and forget about them, while their effects are felt later. Many of these are negative or hurtful rather than kind.

It's easy to change.

(3) The Human Limbic System + Western Attitudes on Cognition/Contemplation

In the West, we like to think the cortex controls the limbic system (mind over matter). It's the other way around. By default the lizard brain controls the computer.

The East understands this, hence the ubiquity of meditative traditions in Asia.

Strategic meditation and contemplative practices allow the cortex to override dominant limbic patterns, break HPA Axis threat response feedback loops, and enhance cognition and long-term outcomes. This can also lead to more sleep & neurogenesis.

Clinton’s problem was not an enthusiasm gap. It was fear. People were scared of her.

Clinton’s problem was not an enthusiasm gap. It was fear. People were scared of her.

Clinton was being investigated for deleting classified documents tied to the killing of Americans in Libya. She appeared guilty, but the investigation fizzled for questionable reasons — then reopened at the last minute. Rumors spread freely on right-leaning circles online that her enemies tended to “disappear.” She had a reputation for being ruthless and efficient. Yet she neglected key battleground states — probably because she underestimated Trump, and his disturbing threats to prosecute her during the debates (again playing into this fear of someone being above the law).

Independents don’t fear Biden. They fear Trump, for good reason. Trump isn’t an unknown anymore — he’s a certifiable monster. He’s killed hundreds of thousands through deceit and incompetence. He refuses to wear a mask during the Coronavirus pandemic. He’s dismantled the CDC. He’s suggested disinfectant injections as medical treatment. And he’s now “pinned” a tweet about cancelling the American presidential election.

It’s really not much of a choice.

This is an excellent first step.

This is an excellent first step. To further this endeavor, Google should partner with an external platform, like Coursera or Khan.

This may drive down the price of Uni!

Imagine a future world where the opportunity costs of 4-year undergrad weigh on high schoolers—rather than forgoing the degree.

Per Chaos Theory, every choice matters — for good, or ill.

True. But he also started Facebook in a different era.

True. But he also started Facebook in a different era.

Exceptional people are exceptional. Maybe they always will be. IDK. But I’ve been told if you want to be a novelist, you have to write and query/KDP at least 3 books before making it big. I know from my experience it’s much, much more difficult to find the free time for that kind of endeavor now than it was a few years ago.

Rent is $3k/month where I live in So Cal. Starter homes are $800k. Then you add in the student loans, b/c you don’t want to forgo education. My last job was 60-80 hours/week. Then consider health insurance (hundreds per month), the deductible if something goes wrong with you, the cost of food, gas, car.

Chasing money for inflated non-optional expenses is a big part of our lives now.

Hence, Fight Club.

Hence, Fight Club. And the Matrix concept. And Wow, EvE, FFXIV, etc. They’ll probably build a matrix soon, if we don’t have cultural reform.

So binary and reductive!

So binary and reductive!

Left and right. Up and down. Good and bad.

What a wonderful, easy world you live in. I also think it’s wonderful that some bright young minds think “Medicare” is something to aspire to — or that cannabis is a dangerous drug.
