Flat Deception was nominated for a Whitney Award

I woke up this morning to find a congratulatory note in my inbox from the Whitney Awards Committee. Flat Deception received enough nominations to enter the judging round. That readers enjoyed Flat Deception enough to take time from their busy lives to fill out that form touched me deeply. Thank you!!!

I have a Book signing HAT!

My upcoming release, Flat Deception, has the most gorgeous hat on the cover. A friend of mine converted my gardening hat into a thing of beauty to match the cover for my book signings in a few weeks.

If you’re n the area, stop on by South Jordan’s Seagull Book Store on May 6th from 6-8 pm with Traci Hunter Abramson, Sian Ann Bessey, and A. L. Sowards (my Heirs of Falcon Point co-authors) and on Wednesday, May 8th from 5-7pm at the Taylorsville, UT Seagull Book with several other Covenant authors. Swing by and check out this fancy hat of mine and say hi.

The Countdown Begins

23 Days until Flat Deception's release. I'm so excited to share this story with you. Lady Sophie, the overshadowed daughter of the Marquess and Marchioness of Roxbury, has only one aspiration, which is to become a thoroughbred horse breeder. But everything goes wrong when she is accused of equine doping, and she must prove her innocence if she ever hopes to achieve her dreams. And Zander Matthews, the man who counseled her father to cut his financial support, the fellow she'd like to hate, is taking up too much of her thoughts. What's a girl to do?

Flat Deception Endorsements

"The high-stakes intrigue of thoroughbred horse racing set against Edwards' deft rendering of the scenic Scottish landscape kept me hooked from start to finish in this twisty tale." Melanie Jacobson, USA Today Best-Selling Author

"A gorgeous, heart-thumping read." Amy Martinsen

"In Paige Edwards' Flat Deception, romantic suspense sizzles as readers are dropped into Scotland and the UK aristocracy, where the people's bloodlines matter as much as those of their horses. A winning racehorse anchors old wealth and lifts others into the circle of power, and some will stoop to anything, even murder, to cross the finish line first." Laurie (L.C.) Lewis
Award-winning author of inspirational fiction, including the
2023 Whitney Award Winning
Novel of the Year--"The Letter Carrier."

Big Surprise - Whitney Awards Finalist

Last week, I received an email from the Whitney Awards informing me that my inspirational romantic suspense, Skye Fall, Book #4 in the Pressley-Coombes series, is a Whitney Awards Finalist. Not gonna lie; that totally blew me away. When mega authors like Brandon Sanderson, Jennifer A. Nielsen, Charlie Holmberg, Dan Wells, Amy Harmon, Julie Berry, Shannon Hale, Brandon Mull, and the list goes on... are peeps who have won Whitney's in the past, you'll understand how blown away I am to have Skye Fall reach finalist status. Excuse me while I go somewhere and pinch myself.

AI Graded my Writing Level

As an author, I am constantly seeking ways to improve my standard of writing. Recently, I purchased a program recommended to me by another suspense author.
Don't worry. It doesn't create stories for me but simply grades my writing abilities on multiple levels, such as description, pacing, characterization, sentence structure, overuse, passive tense, repeat words, etc.
I'm happy to report that I received a 93% overall, which made me quite happy. Since,
80% falls into the acceptable range. That was really nice to hear.
Will the program stop me from striving to improve my skills? No. I write to entertain and inspire my readers. But I also like to challenge myself. Producing good material really matters to me.
How do I feel about AI? It's making inroads in every avenue of our lives. Elon Musk recently said he saw it taking over our world, for good or ill. I find that worrisome, as AI doesn't have a conscience to monitor its decisions. But it was fun having an unbiased opinion grade my writing.

Edits. Edits. Edits.

My edits arrived for Flat Deception, my May 2024 release. I keep smiling as I read my editor's comments. She caught several things that my beta readers didn't. She's brilliant, and I consider myself so fortunate that I was assigned to her by my publishing house. Flat Deception is part of my Roxbury Heirs series (but each novel is a standalone). The novel is set largely in Scotland and is kind of a contemporary My Fair Lady with horses and bad guys--lots of fun.

The Swoony Awards

Skye Fall was nominated for the Swoony Awards. What are the Swoony Awards? They are a readers' choice award recognizing clean and secular fiction. If you enjoyed Skye Fall and/or other clean and wholesome fiction, could you do me a favor and follow the link to nominate it? Thanks so much!

Are You A Mood Reader?

Over the last six months, I've tracked my reading, coming to a surprising (for me) conclusion. When I'm stressed, I read RomCom. It's always good for a few chuckles and doesn't require anything of me emotionally. If I want something with substance, I generally reach for mystery or suspense, though I do enjoy memoir and historicals, too. Do you read only one genre, or are you a mood reader too?
