STORYTIME MONTHLY UPDATE: November 2018

Well a lot happened this month, the biggest thing ever basically being that I got to hold an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of my actual book, Making Friends with Alice Dyson.
It is heavier than I expected, and just freaking beautiful, very bright and sweet and lovely.
So yeah, I’m pretty over the moon about that!
And realistically it has overshadowed all the other things I was doing this month. To be honest I can’t even remember them.
Did I even do anything else?
Nah.
I just stared at m...

COVER REVEAL: Making Friends with Alice Dyson by Poppy Nwosu

Well this is a moment I’ve been waiting for since forever.
Well six years maybe. Which included five years of trying to get published and the past almost year of getting this book ready to go with my publishers, Wakefield Press.
Which means obviously I’ve spent a lot of time imagining what kind of cover I would like for my book.
And you know what?
I really couldn’t have ever imagined anything as beautiful as this one!
I mean, check out my name on the cover!
It’s my name! On a book! T...

JOURNAL OF A DEBUT AUTHOR - CHAPTER FOUR: Does receiving a book contract change how you write new manuscripts?

Yes.
The short answer I have discovered is definitely yes.
I have touched on this topic previously in this post called: LEARNING TO LET AN AWFUL STORY GO: How do you know when to kill a work in progress?
But I thought I would include it into my Debut Author series, as I think it is probably a fairly universal feeling for newly published or about to be published authors, and I guess I wanted to explore it a little further.
So here we go...
Of course everyone writes differentl...

STORYTIME MONTHLY UPDATE: October 2018

Welcome to my monthly update!
Here I will waffle on for a short time about what I’ve been up to over the past month in terms of my writing progress, reading and a bit of general life stuff too.
So here we go :)
WRITING LIFE:
Oooh, let me break this down into sub sections!
Recently Finished Manuscript:
Well last month I completed a new YA manuscript, which is in the same vein as my soon to be published debut novel (so basically a cute and romantic contemporary) and had just sen...

JOURNAL OF A DEBUT AUTHOR - CHAPTER THREE: How I got a Literary Agent!

I am lucky enough now to not only have a YA debut novel coming out soon with Wakefield Press, but to have also secured a lovely literary agent, who is representing my other work.
This is a dream come true for me, and, if you have read my very first post in this series (which can be found HERE), you will also know it has been a long loooooong time coming.
In this post, I talk a bit about how I started working with an agent.
Choosing to have an agent is such a personal decisio...
