Today, Dead Again Is Out

Today, my romantic suspense, Dead Again, is released on the unsuspecting public.  That's you. ;)  Like Diana by the Moon, I've been waiting a long time for this release date, and of course, just like Diana, it happened to have hit right smack in the middle of one of the most frenetically busy periods of my life.

I'm writing this post ahead of time, because when it goes to press, I'm actually going to be in Columbus Ohio for the first "unofficial" day of the Romantic Times convention.  The...

I'm at The Geeky Bookworm Today, Chatting about Diana By The Moon

I'm guesting at The Geeky Bookworm today, on the last stop of my book tour for Diana by the Moon, just to add challenge to my already complicated life.

If you've been following along lately, you're probably aware that I'm (theoretically) just rolling into Columbus, Ohio for the Romantic Times Convention.  If all has gone according to schedule, that is.  If not, I'm still on the road, and I'll be handling comments on The Geeky Bookworm via a jury-rigged combination of my Blackberry + netbook...

On The Road to the Romantic Times Convention: Day 3

Day 3: Chicago to Columbus - Click to see the full sized image (Hit your "Back" button to return)

Day Three of our road trip to the Romantic Times Convention, and if everything goes according to plan, we should have spent the night near or somewhere northwest of Chicago, and today we'll hit Columbus.  Google Maps says it's only 5 hours and 56 minutes driving from Chicago, so depending on how far short of Chicago we stopped, we don't have all that far to go today.

Because I'm writing this post a...

My Romantic Times 2010 Road Tour Day 2 – Summary

Well, we made it to Madison!  But 13 hours + is a helluva marathon, so we're thinking that next time we do this, we won't schedule any day of driving that long.  But Wisconsin is just beautiful even without all the trees in full growth.  It's going to be stunning in October when we come through for RomantiCon, so Mark is going to have to drive for this part of the route so I can take pictures.

We made really good time even with lots of road work and a few stops for Starbucks on the way, and...

There's Still Reason To Be Optimistic About Books and Publishing

Tom Colvin over at Becoming A Writer Seriously recently published a post that directed attention to two different, but joined-at-the-hip articles about the publishing industry.  Writers and most publishing professionals these days have a few (if not a lot) sleepless nights wondering if that is a big black hole the industry is heading toward, because unlike the music industry, there are no live performances and merchandising that authors can provide to offset piracy, and the fisti-cuffs over e...

On The Road to the Romantic Times Convention: Day 2

Day 2: Winnipeg to Chicago: Click to see the full sized image (Hit your "Back" button to return)

So, if everything went according to plan yesterday, today we'll be driving from Winnipeg to Chicago. I'm actually writing this post sometime in the past, and anticipating that everything went well, because I have no idea what sort of Internet access I'll have on the 25th.  So when you're actually reading this on the 25th, we may or may not be south of Winnipeg, but I'll do my best to amend t...

My Romantic Times 2010 Road Tour Day 1 – Summary

We got a late start this morning, mostly because I was up until 2 am sewing the last details of mine and Mark's outfits for Ellora's Cave's EC Party on Wednesday night before falling into bed, then getting up again a bare four hours later.

I'm typing this as we're barreling along somewhere between North Battleford and Saskatoon. I just missed the damned three-bridges valley again – I so wanted to get a photo of that. There's the two modern bridges that cross the North Saskatchewan, then a...

Ereader Primer 2010: Part 3 – Types of Ereaders To Pick From: Cellphones/Smartphones

[ P1: 10 Damn Good Reasons Why You Should Have One ]

[ P2: eBook Formats; Less Critical Than They Used To Be, But Still Important! ]

____________

There's huge advantages to using a cellphone for your ereading, and not too many disadvantages.  The Japanese have been using their cellphones for years, and up until Christmas 2009, I used either my Palm Pilot or my cellphone, too, for nearly eight years.

But most westerners go "ugh!" at the thought.  "I couldn't read a whole book on that...

On The Road to the Romantic Times Convention: Day 1

Day 1: Edmonton to Winnipeg. Click to see the full sized image (Hit your "Back" button to return)

Today is Day 1 of our three day drive to Columbus, Ohio, for the Romantic Times Convention.  I have my Blackberry and netbook computer with me, and will be posting as I go, and I'll be taking photos along the way.  Worst case scenario:  If I can't get the Blackberry to act as an Internet modem for the netbook, then the next time I get on-line to chat here and check comments, etc, will be...

Tomorrow, We Hit The Road.

There are two constants about writing full time:

1) Your time is your own

2) Money is non-existent.

Most people see the first as a positive and disbelieve the second.  I've given up trying to argue either point, and with strangers, I just smile politely.  With closer friends and colleagues I'll maybe murmur "try walking a mile in my shoes and you'll understand."

However, these two points combined mean Mark and I can't fly to Columbus for the Romantic Times Convention.  That's out of the...
