Urban Fantasy Covers – Is There a Trend?

Doug over at SciFiGuy built this hilarious, but ironically accurate video about Urban Fantasy covers.

I'll let it speak for itself.

What do you think?  Have you been noticing a sameness about UF covers lately?

I know I can absolutely pick an UF novel from 100 paces these days.  Some of them are gorgeous, but they're branded, all the same.

How To Break Into The Erotic Romance Market In 8 Not-So-Easy Steps

scrolls 300x224 How To Break Into The Erotic Romance Market In 8 Not So Easy StepsA reader asked me in comments the other day how one went about breaking into the erotic romance market.  Well, actually, she was asking about the erotic market in general, but the question was a bit of a shocker anyway because:

a) she'd never read an erotic book in her life

b) she'd never completed a manuscript, of either erotic or non-erotic nature.  She had never picked up a pen or keyboard to tell at story at all.

Everyone must start from somewhere, and while I wish her the very best of luck ...

Trueblood Season 3 – The Official Trailer!

And I thought, just for fun, as it's Friday…

___________

Hands up, who recognises at least books three and four in the trailer there?

Which reminds me.  I must tell you about my Charlaine Harris moment at RT, sometime.

Have you voted in my poll yet?  (Look to the right and down a little.)

Have a great weekend!

Not Just Anyone Can Play A Vampire – But Why Can't Sam Worthington?

Sam Worthington 200x300 Not Just Anyone Can Play A Vampire But Why Cant Sam Worthington? For a few months now, there's been a growing fuss about the fact that Sam Worthington has been tapped by director Alex Proyas to play Dracula in Proyas's new movie, Dracula Year Zero, and the fuss hasn't been positive. First Showing.net is a milder and nicely generic example of the movie sites out there that think Worthington is the wrong choice for the role.

I think they're wrong, and not because Worthington is a fellow countryman, and way too sexy for his own good.  The second fact is...

I've Been Whipped…Er – Reviewed by Whipped Cream

evaslastdance msr 182x300 Ive Been Whipped...Er Reviewed by Whipped CreamI've been hearing a lot about reviews from Whipped Cream Erotic Romance Reviews, recently, and finally managed to score one for myself.  This one came in while I was in Ohio, for Teal Ceagh's Eva's Last Dance, which is nice, as I've only had two or three for Eva.

I've noticed, these days, that reviews are only trinkling in.  When I first started publishing with Ellora's Cave, every book I released with them would get six or seven reviews, easily.  Now, I'm lucky to get two or three.  Other...

Our Grand RT Tour – Part II

This is actually the second time I've written this.  The first time, my Internet connection died, and I lost the post.  So let's see if I don't have to re-write it a third or fourth time because I forget to save. :D

Unfortunately, because this log is so photo heavy, there's no way to write it in Word or a text file in advance.  I have to insert the photos as I go along, which means writing the post directly in Wordpress.  So…deep breath.  Let's try this again.  A least I don't have to think...

Our Grand RT Tour – Part I

I promised a post with lots of pictures from RT, but we ran into…technical difficulties.  The camera decided it didn't like being charged on the car charger and wouldn't hold a charge, so by the time we got to Columbus, we couldn't take pictures at the hotel.  It wasn't until we left that we had sorted out the problem (with a new battery), and so my pictorial odyssey didn't pan out at all.

I'm not too upset, as there have been RT pics all over the internet and I can give you links to an even d...

Release Date for Beauty's Beasts – Less Than A Month!

Hard on the heels of the book's cover, Beauty's Beasts got a release date:  Friday, June 11.  That's less than a month away!

As this is a book book – not a quickie, or a novella — I'll be trying to stir up a bit more than the usual amount of interest.

Also, this is the second book in the gargoyles series, and because it ended the way it did (I can't give spoilers here), I was immediately gripped by the scruff of the neck by my editor and told to hand over a synopsis for the third book in the...
