Ekeberg Stone Settings
That other Kenneth (Brophy) has just blogged about a visit here - more on our page. This site consists of a ship-shaped stone setting, a stone circle and around 10 round barrows and cairns dated to be from early to later iron age. It is close to the bronze age rock art site and both are located in a large public park area. Footpaths and signposts are built around the site.

Allard Pierson Museum
In the Amsterdam University Allard Pierson Museum was a special exhibition about the reconstruction of the lost colours used in antiquity to enhance sculptures. To see them as they were seen in their own time often completely changes the rather strict and stately impression we have of these sculptures and gives them a brighter, more lifelike, sometimes more folksy or even kitschy appearance. All in the eye of the beholder of course! This images shows the reconstructed and painted version of what is now a very grey and dull looking sculpture.

Kerzerho Alignements
You an still walk among the stones at Kerzerho, which are near the more famous Carnac alignments but not quite so busy. Head up the D781 to Erdeven. You can park nearby, and from there you can also take the path to the large stones of the Table du Sacrifice. (see nearby sites list on our page)

O2 Mander
Nowadays the barrow of this megalithic tomb is restored, but all the megaliths are lost. It is the southern-most known megalithic site in the Netherlands and has an interesting isolated position. The nearest other megalithic sites are 30km away in the East (Lingen-Rheine group) and 35km in the North (Drenthe South-group). (see our interactive map )
