Achnancarranan
There are lots of other sites to explore on Islay, see our nearby sites list. A single stone row on the Isle of Islay. It measures 7.5m long, including three large orthostats situated on a south facing terrace with restricted views of the nearby sea. The northern stone measures up to 2.6m high, whilst the southern one is 2.87m tall. The central stone is now recumbent and probably fell eastward. The row is orientated north to south and stands in an area with broadly contemporary standing stones and a chambered tomb.

Possibly one of the best preserved crosses in Cornwall, this wheel head wayside cross stands outside the porch of St Feock's Church at Feock, near the city of Truro in Cornwall. The cross depicts a figure of Christ which can be very clearly seen. The cross is granite and stands at approximately 4 feet high.

Dinas Dinlle
Photos of the current excavation at Dinas Dinlle showing opposing massive walls of the huge roundhouse there. This fort next to the sea was originally defended by a double bank with an entrance to the south-east. There are a number of depressions in the interior where huts once stood as well as a badly damaged mound which could be the remains of a round barrow.

St Cuthbert's Well (Clifton)
This spring and well, now covered in a metal grille and built into an enclosure commemorating a battle, can be found on the western side of the A6 towards the southern end of Clifton Village, Cumbria.
Through the grille it is just about possibly to make out stone steps leading down to an opening under which flows a rapid, and plentiful, stream of water. Presumably this used to the water supply for the village, and villagers would walk down the steps to draw water. There was no obvious sign in the fields around of where the spring rose from.

Miamisburg Mound
The Miamisburg Mound is the largest conical burial mound in Ohio. At 68 feet high and 877 feet in circumference, it is possibly the largest conical mound in the United States. It is identified as having been built by the Adena culture (roughly 800BC - 100AD) based on evidence of archeology in the area. It was definitely a burial mound but documentation of the type and number of burials seems limited.

Butte de Goassec'h
Archeologist in charge of excavations Florian Cousseau says "The results are beyond what we could expect, can't wait for the next few years!" . The Butte de Goassec'h is a newly discovered large chambered cairn to the south of Carhaix-Plouguer. Currently (2019) being excavated, it has been rich in discoveries with large megalithic architecture containing 3 Dolmens that have not been open for 4000 years, and is being compared to Barnenez!

Lough Inn Circle
Has anyone else seen this stone circle? Do you have any information you can add? Thank you!. (Presumably Modern?) Stone Circle in County Donegal, Ireland. Simon writes: I was home in Ireland last week and my dad showed me a stone circle that's not on the map, in County Donegal, near Redcastle by Lough Inn. It's kind of bleak but stunning but we could see it from the road. There are at least eight stones in the circle with one lying down. It was very boggy and overgrown and we didn't really have the clothes or footwear to do more than a quick recce.

Veyre-Monton buried standing stones
Thirty megaliths in an alignment at least 150 metres long have been unearthed in Veyre-Mouton, Auvergne, as well as a statue-menhir, a stone circle and a megalithic horseshoe. This exceptional discovery is a first for the centre of France and was announced on Monday by Inrap. Lots more photos and an estimate of the location, on our pages
